Just now getting to this podcast and I was actually in the stream when he was talking about his symptoms. I knew he had shingles. His stress on top of being immunocompromised it was a perfect recipe! His daughter, the zoo, leaving his job for a decent time, starting hermit craft and just trying to be present for everyone! Hopefully he now realizes and can reassess what he actually wants and needs. If he doesn't address this it can easily come back

Docm77 had some very nice words about the hermitcraft server last season. He pointed out how being a group enables the individuals to take breaks when they need it, without killing their channel in the process. Case in point, we were flooded with content when the new season started, and while it would have been fun to get more skizz videos, as a group the hermits still produced more than enough to keep the hype for the new season going!

The start of season 10 is the most HC content I've watched since season 6. I got into HC because of Grian and now I'm finding myself watching Skizz, Impulse, Tango, Stress, Pearl, Wels, Ren, Keralis, and tons of others.
@ziggybadans
@ziggybadans 3 месяца назад
@@nevets1726 Same for me. I got into HC cause of Etho and S7 was the most I'd ever watched, in S8 and 9 when Etho took a break I started watching other hermits, and now this season I've never watched so much content so quickly! Plus, it works out that the free time I have in the week is when a lot of hermits stream or upload, so definitely will have more than enough content if Skizz or anyone else takes breaks.

If the Hermits had been the type of people that Skizz described in the opening, they wouldn't be as popular as they are. One of the best things about the Hermits is that you can tell they are all friends.

I'm sure Scar can be of great advice for you Skizz. Patience is a skill and can be developped like any skill. Having a disability, I had no choice to develop it, waiting for other people help, for paperwork, for decisions, for money, etc. I also have higher fatigability and have had to learn to respect that.

@tomgidden

Totally. As I slowly became disabled -- chronic pain leading to fatigue -- mid-life, it's _incredibly_ frustrating to cope with not being able to do as much as I used to. Going from working miracles on all-nighters to only being able to sit up to work for an hour or so at a time. Learning to cope with that and not being able to do what I feel I _should_ be able to do is incredibly annoying. Dealing with having others expect of me what I used to be capable of delivering is equally tiring.

As a former grocery retail worker, if a worker is being treated badly, it's best to not confront the rude person. Escalating the situation helps no one. However, making sure the worker knows that they're not alone does wonders for morale. A kind comment (or a lighthearted joke as Skizz did) can lessen the emotional impact of being treated badly. Kindness, no matter how small, does make a difference. Wonderful podcast. 💜

Wholeheartedly agree! (Another former grocery person here). Mean people are thankfully few and far between, and I had a mantra that I'd say silently... or as a reply to someone later in line who kindly apologized for the mean person's behavior: "The bad people only make me appreciate the good ones more." That got me through many years as a cashier and at the Customer Service Desk. I hope someone reading this will adopt that mantra and use it to make their days better.

If anyone gives you grief about having to take time to deal with your MS and Shingles, then we don't want them in in the community. Scar's community is supportive of his medical mishaps. He's been told time again that we want a healthy scar and we're willing to wait. In the meantime, he gets to grow his collection of community pet pics to cheer him up while he's recovering. Your community has always been supportive of your MS. While you generally don't let it slow you down, listen to your body and get the rest it requires and don't overdo it. We'll be here when you're feeling back to normal and engaging in the craziness we expect with Impulse and Tango and you.

I really dont care when HC episodes air, I could watch one a month and be grateful. I also didnt mind the break, it just made me more excited for when the season returned. I love all the (unedited) behind the scenes stuff this season, which I hope is a bit easier on the creators to do. I really want happy content creators - who play with friends and take us along. Everyone on HC is incredibly kind, funny, talented and professional. And I hope that while creating content for us, they also create a relaxed environment for themselves to work in, especially putting health and family/friends first. I hate for one of the Hermits to look back and regret their time on HC, because they treated themselves too hard and feel like they missed out on life. Happy Hermits, happy viewers

Honestly I've found that I'm watching more hermits when the episodes are spaced- I don't feel like I need to rush and only binge one hermit because I don't want to miss anything. In other seasons I only watched 1-3 hermits because it felt like the episode flow was heavy enough (and because less interaction with other hermits), but it seems like more people are pacing themselves. This season? All the Magic mountain hermits and a couple others, and I've been loving it
@justicefool3942
@justicefool3942 3 месяца назад
@@Kehy_ThisNameWasAlreadyTaken I've been watching Hermitcraft since Season 5, with a little of Season 4 sprinkled in there. Impulse said it best when he said this Season feels different from all the past Seasons. There is a different kind of magic to this Season that I haven't seen before. One of community that isn't focused on making more episodes, or planning for mega builds or anything like that. The best way I can describe it is this Season feels less like content creators making content and more like close friends reconnecting after being apart for so long. That's not to say that there aren't aspects of creating content either, but it's not being done for the sake of making it, but because it's something they genuinely want to do. So far, this has been my favorite Season opening ever because of the greater sense of community.

My grandmother had shingles twice and the 2nd time it was on her face above her eye. The doctor said if she waited any longer to be seen, she could have lost her vision. At the time, she was 95 and stubborn. She never complained or said anything to us. As soon as you told us it's a painful rash, I knew it had to be shingles. BTW I love how you changed your horses name to shingles! That was great and so funny😂! My depression has returned with vengeance and getting through it by watching you. Skizz, you always put a smile on my face and you are helping me get through these dark days. With my graduation for my Accociates degree coming up on 5/10, so much pressure to do well is extremely high. It's making things overwhelming some days. Thanks for making me smile and helping me get through this! Hugs!

about skizz talking about the cashier stuff, i am so thankful for his patience. i got my first job a month ago as a cashier in a small retail store so i'm typically the only cashier. when i'm scanning people, i don't notice how long the line gets until my manager tells the next person in line to go to their line. once i see how long the line is, when i get to the next few people, i never apologize for the inconvenience. i thank them for their patience. every single time, they say that they understand and say it's no problem to wait a minute or two. i've only had two people treat me poorly and both times a manager glared at them the entire time and set them straight. to everyone who is patient and understanding with cashiers, i thank you as a young cashier

Skizz, I made a comment about you not wanting to go back to work when you said you were taking time off. When you got shingles, I'm not gonna lie, I giggled a little. You had PLANS, you had BIG things you wanted to do right out the gate and your body flat out told you NO. By the way, look at Tango. He's only on his 4th video because he had some ideas that didn't turn out. I also think Decked out last season really wore him out and he's struggling with knowing exactly what to do last season and wanting to slow down this season. You guys have the same number of videos out. With Scar, look at the short season, the MOON BIG season. Scar was absent due to his body wigging out and insurance and all that mess and while we were all asking about him every hermit I saw...EVERY HERMIT....was giving us as unobtrusive updates as best they could. They're doing the same with you. Granted we know who to ask specifically, we ask Tango and Impulse. Just because you have a plan in your brain doesn't mean your body isn't going to laugh so hard you can't breathe. Make sure your plan A also has a Plan B and C. Look at how much you're channel has grown.... We will be here for you and wait for you and ask the guys if you're ok when The Trio isn't online and together. I hope you get over this soon, my mom had it and I know it's a whole lot of no fun.

In Jewish/Hebraic culture, there is a saying: “everyone is worth half a shekel,” which came about from the half-shekel tithe ordained in Exodus that everyone over the age of 20 must tithe one half-shekel. What this meant/the meaning behind this is to teach everyone one of us that we are no more and no less important that your fellow man; we are all worth the same in God’s eyes. AKA: another way to reiterate the golden rule; treat others the way you want to be treated, with respect and dignity. Absolutely loved this episode! You guys are quickly becoming my favorite podcast to watch at home, or listen to on the road. Keep it up!

skizz this is for you. How you feel about being among "giants" on hc can naturally translate to some very unique journeys. you are in a spot where you don't have "your thing" yet, like some have building, some are more technical, some are more storytellers, some gimmic testers ecc... "your thing" rn is that you are a clean slate and seeing people develop is nice, (that and your personality helps a ton, but its usually good to add stuff to that). even just the journey of understanding WHAT you wanna specialize in is interesting so dont rush it, but probably don't try to match every kind of skill in the game at the same time. its subjective... but most times picking one thing to imlrove on at a time works best

Sometimes that makes me feel pretty guilty because I perform great at exams but cannot help my friends at all when they have questions, I get worried it looks like I don't want to help. But specifically because I know that I lack patience with people trying to understand concepts that I already do (think like I forget what it was like not knowing, so I struggle to understand their situation) I know how to handle it. This reminds me of something my professor told us in design school. He said you’re going to get frustrated along this learning process and feel like you’re not good enough. But that’s because your design eye is improving enough that you can now tell what good design is and that you’re not there yet. So see that frustration as an indicator that you’re actually on the way to improving that skill. Such valuable advice I hope I never forget.

Skizz, I love your videos, not just cause you're in them, but because you have honestly some of the best editing skills on the server. I watched your episode 1 last of all the magic mountain hermits, and you were the only one who did a wide sweeping shot around the mountain when everyone walked around it to find you a spot. That was exactly what I was looking for and really allowed me to understand the layout of where everyone was. Is incredible how life works. I've been going through a lot of bad stuff in the last years, and more than once i felt like i was been left behind by my friends and family. While beating myself up because i couldn't get into college when all the others entered, or i couldn't get a job where everyone else could go out every week without thinking about how they would pay the bills without the money they spent that day, i was happy when i could get out of bed and do simple stuff like eat properly or have the strength to talk at all. I learned how to be patient with myself, and be patient with my problems, time will eventually help things get fixed, but we have to keep it up and not stress to much about stuff that is not under our control. And then the week i finally get a job (not great, but is something, and I'm greatfull for it) and i got into the college i wanted, you guys did a podcast about being patient. Is like the universe is reassuring me saying that me letting life do it's own thing, it will be worth!! I just watched the part about the grocery store. I cannot tell you how much i relate. I always try to make the server/cashier/customer service rep's day better by not being "that customer". Before the pandemic I'd frequent a few stores that had built in cafe's for lunch. I would build a rapport with several of the employees over the years. When they had a grumpy customer and i was next, i would do what I could to make them laugh or smile. They're just trying to do a job, and we are just trying to get food or groceries or some return processed or something. We're just people. So happy that i am not alone in this "mission". Love it. Also Skizz, as someone with chronic illness, i can totally relate to that pressure you feel to "show up". Just rest up and heal up and you'll be back to 100% before you know it. We'll all be here for ya!

Wow its Twists perspective of the week: I can really not learn something without understanding it, Im a Skizz in this one heh, its like everything is one big mechanical system, if I wanna add to it, I need to fit in all the gears, if anything is missing or that I cant understand, my brain won't be able to work with the information. Meaning I question people with apparent authority to say whatever they want me to learn and appear rude... Similar thing goes with synthesizing, I realized recently people will cut out elements that appear less important, but I do it by densifying it down to the basic model Im pretty good at accepting things out someones control, I remain patient, unless it doesnt make sense to me, if someone is doing something just that brings noticeably more harm than good, it completely breaks my brain. When they say autistic people are cold calculating machines, kinda because im extremely rational, but my emotions are also extremely strong, and it brings me so much pain when things or people dont make sense... As for patience when I have to wait something, ive always been praised, despite the ADHD making me need stimulation a lot, my imagination starts to fill out boring things with action scene choreography and music, meaning I can wait in line a hecking while, but also makes it sometimes hard to focus when something is not that interesting, it really hurts. Good thing for me is that I am also very curious so a lot of things are very interesting I dont really lose my temper because its hard for me to actually communicate with my instinct, like my subconscious is almost cut off, and whenever I do start to boil it all turns inwards and sinks in, I start being exhausted and in pain. Theres autistic meltdowns and shutdowns that happen when someones overwhelmed, and I have the shutdown mechanism activated a lot And im also really good at hurting myself, if I think I should be patient, I will, even if the wait hurts, even if the person in front of me is saying horrible things, because I care so much that I will push myself, well less so recently cause of the effects of burnout but you get the point maybe lol I will try to reason with some people being unkind and illogical, and it actually does sometimes work and we find an agreement, my exit strategy is blocking them cause most my time is online heh But ive learned/been learning to be as kind with myself as I am too others, ps: stress has left me sick a lot, and currently disabled because my brain broke after burning out so many times, if you can avoid useless stress, do it

As a fellow autistic, I commend your patience in typing all this. It can be frustrating to slow one’s thoughts enough to stay at a typing pace. I recommend slow-reading what you type to make sure you don’t accidentally skip words. It’s natural to speed-read, for us, but is actually inefficient to check what we type. And, yes, I corrected this comment four times. 😉😆

Its funny cause when I did an ortho-whatever reading test they didnt know what to do when I skipped a whole sentence lol. But yeah despite being a quite big autistic communities I haven't found many other people that struggle quite the same way with words as I do, so thats nice. I remember school made me rush writing to the point the multiple variations of the same sentence that appeared in my head at the same time would merge when I typed heh. The testers said it was maybe some weird mix of dyslexia and adhd I think but eeeh its all funky brain stuff heh@@StarNanny

Well, not the situation, but definitely my day. 💕

I honestly do not think that there's any way I can thank you enough 😮 for allowing this in life because you were right no matter what industry, no matter what service, you do all you have. When you think about the fact that there are other people in this world, who are existing in their own lives... and have things, just going on. There are so many expectations in this world with so many things destroying themselves in creating new and you expect everyone to be 100% perfect 100% of the time is truly just ridiculous. I love you for saying everything you said and how it resonatesbwith the people who truly are going through some of this whether it be from the front point of trying to run a business or be on the receiving end of being an awesome person who just helps people carry their bags. I just want to say everyone has a pivotal role in life and the amazing point is you can choose where you want to be in that...whatever makes you happy.

Get well soon Skiz! 🙌 The cashier stories make me wonder if there's ever a good time to resort to violence? I'm similar to Impulse when it comes to the abundance of patience for others, but it also shames me that I would probably not jump in to defend others if things got physical. That could be an interesting future topic. Love you guys, stay safe and healthy!

It really hurts me to see the stress and unneeded obligation content creators put on themselves. It's touching and beautiful that they don't want to let their communities down, but seriously, you guys need to stop and take care of yourselves. Last season 2 seasons of Hermitcraft were the burnout seasons for sure. I felt so sad as I watched my favourite Hermits, time and time again, burn out, fall sick and feel terrible for it. You have to all understand that, yes we all love to see your content, that's why we are here, but we are all also invested, and after watching you guys play and laugh and share over the many years, we care more about your guys than your content. I really think that is what has made season 10 so addictive and amazing so far, everyone seems to be taking far better care of themselves and there's a more relaxed, more free-flowing fun vibe that's honestly heart-warming and addictive. I may not speak for everyone, but I am never upset or disappointed when one of the Hermits says they need some time off or they are changing the format to better suit their lifestyle. In fact hearing that makes me incredibly happy, knowing that you're taking care of yourself (which in return gives us much better content). Skizz, you are doing amazingly well, just continue being you, play for fun and share those good times. Welcome to Hermitcraft! I'm loving your content and your journey

First, I want to take the chance to let Skizz know that we are all here for him and to take ALL the time he needs to heal. Love his energy on the server and will be looking forward to what he will bring to the table when it comes to server shenanigans! Take the time Brother! ALL of the Hermits needed to learn the lesson of Patience. The Greater community does not care at all whether a Mega base gets finished/progress done to it every week. We want to see a group of great friends having a great time! And I am LOVING that all the hermits have taken season 10 to just relax a bit. Have fun. not going to lie, Mega builds are boring. When it's the only thing going on! Watching a build slowly get completed over the season is fine but not the reason people click on videos. Otherwise, the YT Statistics would show people clicking on your Base tour videos and skipping straight to the "good stuff", but they don't, the community is here for server interactions, Pranks, Hijinx and Shenanigans. And the odd 1.5hour DocM Insane mechanic breaking videos. I do like listening to those while I'm at work.... Take care the both of you!

Been listening for a long time over on Spotify, but wanted to be able to make a comment today. I think I really needed to hear the talk on patience, and not getting put off by not seeing progress on a day to day thing. This podcast inspired me to start uploading again, and I dont see too much growth in between videos. It, as of a few days ago, started getting to me. This could not have been a better time for this. On a non-youtube side of things, figured I would say that this podcast has been the main reason for me going on walks every day, and being healthier physically and mentally. I feel a deeper connection to what you guys say not only because you’re two creators I enjoy, but also because you guys are literally in my city. Hearing stuff thats local to me, like how Tango plays ice hockey at ASU, or talking about Barro’s and how you had to think what if we went there instead of to the college tour, makes me feel like these are two people who are speaking with me rather than at me. This is the first podcast I’ve listened too that feels this way. Anyway, thanks for the countless hours or entertainment, back to being a spotify listener!

I have a really good friend who I used to get into fake fights with all the time, some of the most frustrating conversations we ever had as we fought different sides of a stupid issue. It taught me a lot about diplomacy and not escalating fights. Still thankful to this day for that learning at a young age. It’s helped me so much (especially since I now work with a lot of spicy older people).

I had shingles at 28 years old. It started at the top of my head and worked towards my right eye. Had to go to a specialist and have it monitored to make sure it didn't get into my eye. Nothing screams don't stress like "you can lose your eyesight". Hopeful for you and a fast recovery. Took about 2 weeks to have manageable pain and 7 weeks for the nerve pain to go down to a less noticeable level. Here a few weeks later, I will sometimes feel the nerve tingles.
