@@TheEllieBree They're definitely declining in population. At least in Florida, it's common practice for vans to go through neighborhoods spraying insecticides to keep the mosquito population down... Which has obvious unintended consequences :( I would assume it's a combination of higher residential pesticide/insecticide use plus habitat loss. All the swampy places and riverfront properties are being turned into concrete jungles, so where are they supposed to eat / reproduce / live?
I adore everything you designed, but the air left my lungs when you said fern harness. DYING. Someone needs to make this. Also, I have always wanted to make a Luna moth gown, and your designs are gorgeous. I can’t wait to see what you do with them.
the fern harness would be so cute in leather. Milled leather (3-4oz) acts similar to really thick fabric and it'd be pretty structured like traditional harnesses are :0
If you keep gravitating towards acrylic paint, get some fabric paint medium to mix in to make it more wearable! Obviously it doesn't help with gradations that dye would probably work better for, but it lets the paint actually cooperate with being on clothes 😂
I was going to say this as well. Fabric medium also makes the fabric (and therefore the garment) washable and not as stiff once the paint is applied. It's a perfectly valid way to create designs on artistic garments. Designs can also be 'painted' on using certain kinds of dye, though it doesn't come out as crisp as actual paint. Also, dye won't 'take' on every kind of fabric--petroleum-based fabrics (polyester, acrylic, etc) don't really dye.

Hello. I hope you know that this is fudgin’ incredible. As a future biology major who loves plants and insects, I am in love. I definitely like subtler things, but this is so inspiring and the aesthetic is everything I love. And the firefly top? Love it. I love fireflies and was planning to study them at one point. You are a genius. I’m definitely going to get back into embroidery now. I am sending all the kudos your way.
With the wisteria coat/dress you could make a ton of ruffle-like pieces out of sheer fabric and for the gradient multiple fabrics in slightly different colours or maybe you could dye the pieces.
I've seen soft mesh housecoats/robes that end in "vegan boas" that I think utilize this technique. I really think it could work with a super soft mesh or tulle!
I keep trying to narrow it down to which designs I like most, but I love them all! You definitely need to make the vampire-inspired porcelain corset though. Also, I don't care if it goes out of fashion in a couple of years, I LOVE that mushroom lamp and cannot wait to see the video when it's finished! 😍

The spencer jacket throws me back to the 00"s with our cropped cardigans and jackets, which i fully agree, never ruined an outfit - outfits were more important than feeling the cold back then for sure 😅
@PricklyAlpaca A tip for dying fabric, it’s best to start with a fabric that’s the lightest color of the gradient you want to make, and use a darker fabric dye. To create the fade first have the fabric be wet and dip the wet fabric in the dye pot gradually while the dye is warm but not too hot (depending on the fabric it could mess up if it’s too hot) leaving the fabric in the dye at the ends longer to make it the darkest to your desired shade.. 😎 Also It might help to dye the cut pattern pieces to better control the gradients.. Anyway, I absolutely LOVE all your videos! ♥️ And looking forward to seeing more of your amazingly beautiful, inspiring fantasy nonsense~ 🥰
The moth tie-dye idea seems like it would work really well with that ice tie-dye technique that people usually use to get a geode themed look, and then the eyes could be added with embroidery
Oh my moth. there are so many lovely designs!!! 😭This is also dangerous bc i feel enabled to also draft fantasy nonsense clothes but once you start i'm afraid it takes over your brain completely like a parasite until you have a full wardrobe of iconic fits that the general public would be amazed yet concerned by. Also i can't remember if you've done this before, but i feel like if you ever did any clothing item that's sea-inspired you'd probably eat it up like a stack of donuts in an office break room

Calling it, the wisteria gown is inspired by Somnia Romantica! This artist has a chokehold on me too I can't wait to see if she finally goes through with her pattern kickstarter! I love every single one of those and it inspires me too GAH!!! I just can't choose! Oh and one last thing, you can totally paint with acrylics your garment if you use fabric medium mixed in, and use it in thin layers. Sorry if you already know, but yeah, I do paint on my garments sometimes and the fabric medium never failed me!

Designs that speak to me: Sakura blouse, mushroom top (those sleeves are ingenious and perfect!), the Lightning Bug top (crying from the west coast, 'cause ours don't have glowy butts), the Spanish Moon Moth dress, the WISTERIA COAT (and actually, everything in that batch), and the red and gold long waistcoat.
I've always thought that the petals on the shoulders of that spencer pattern look like peach pits or almonds, so that DELIGHTS ME. The mushroom ones are also so beautiful!

I wanted to make a little list of all my favorites from each batch and why: Batch 1: The lighting bug, i think this has some decent wearability and looks super whimsical and edgy Batch 2: This was very difficult, but i think the dragon fly vest takes the cake for me. I love the idea of the shiny fabric. Batch 3: the middle design, the vibe is just so nice Batch 4: i would honestly die for a dragonfly swimsuit Batch 5: :o fancy housecoat?!?!?! >>> Batch 6: obviously the spencer jacket
the rushed mushroom skirt is everythung, i would wear that and i hate skirts, im much mor of a shorts person. the lightning bug is so freaking dood! its cute and edgy and ugh dreams!!!! and aLAST OF US FERN HARNESS?!?!?!?!?!? Here's a random story that your thing about noodles reminded me of (hey comments help the algorithm right). One of my mom's old roomates used to throw noodles at a wall to see if they were done. And just left them there. Once the noodles dried, the girls living together would peel them off the wal and sword fight with them. One of them got poked in the ear once, like badly. I don't remember much but there you go. Noodle swords. And omg the lightning bug bodice. I would love to see you make that!!!
