I don’t know why some people want to criticise people like yourself, I mean at the end of the day you are in a business that is tough and you are honest, you tell us warts and all as it is. You tell us the costs and show us the faults and how you rectify them and take us on that journey with you, what’s not to like? Keep going I like the honesty.👍
We'll go for a drive, pull over and I'll go through the costs - What am I watching, High Peak Autos ??? If so, you need a haircut, Tommy Hilfigers and a Rolex Explorer II
🤢 HPA is someone I'd never buy a car from, seen how he bodges the cars he gives peanuts for. HPA and Joe are massively not comparable, HPA is repetitive, has a boring script as Joe sells quality used cars, has spent a lot of effort in making the videos, has a on site mechanic and actually is a pleasant trader.
I am South African, 78, and was in the luggage manufacturing business. To remove stubborn stains without removing the colour from the seats, leather, vinyl and plastic, we used a highly flammable Shell product called MEK. Methyl Ethyl Ketone. Bloody miraculous stuff. I also used MEK to keep the interior of my many Alfas spotless without fear of removing colour from the upholstery. Remember MEK.
Do not use MEK on interiors! I use it every day at work, it’s fine on PP or PE plastics but it melts PVC, ABS, vinyl. If you want a safe solvent for all materials use Isopropyl alcohol.
@@bmostert I am a motor car enthusiast and have owned many Alfas. Whenever I had a stubborn stain on the upholstery, I used MEK. And no colour was removed. Same in my luggage business, if there was glue on the leather or vinyl or nylon or polyester, I used MEK. For about 40 years without any problem.
Joe another top tip for the sticky interior buttons on the sports & l405 vogues if you have any more in the further, Neutrogena makeup wipes. Everyone recommends it on the Range Rover forums. Cheap as chips on Amazon and leaves the buttons perfect! Some tar and goo removers will strip the buttons of the labels. Used it for Vogues/Disco 4’s etc.
Keep yor posting going Joe if doughnuts think you are high peak autos , just ignore them as your channel is more honest and natural, showing us all the pit falls of being a car trader , ps my dad was a car dealer ,trader he had a break down because of the idiots that want to pay beer money and yet expect champaigne, hence I became a plumber ,eh yet another mistake ,when is the water going on or how much .keep this honest channel going Joe, you problems don't like donoughts anyway 😅
Joe,we keep same stock levels as you have,we are based in N.Ireland.I am counting the days until all the Landrovers we have sold are out of our warranty. No more, never again. The profit margins dont justify the stress levels!!
You should do a video of you and Dave Gott comparing your experiences of buying and selling Range Rover products. Dave did a video recently showing all the losses he has had with RR’s.
Dave would sell his granny’s zimmer to fund a few more cars but he doesn’t have Joes big boy balls you need to buy Jag landrovers. Rolling the dice is working out good for Joe
i always think if someone can't be arsed looking after the interior then they won't mantain the vehicle either,so worth checking out the interior before buying.
Please do an update video in 6 months time with any warranty claims? Be interested to see if you still come out ahead after CRA obligations have expired.
You need your new videographer, Seeker wildtrack, motor trade mentors, dealer chat & now this tonight not to mention the regular BM weekly. #smashingit
I have an old Defender. I would NEVER buy a modern Land Rover. Unless you can fix them yourself, they are disposable items - so complex and time consuming to repair, you have to get involved with a multitude of equipment and have the knowledge. That is why they are cheap, a fact that as time goes on, there will be a market flood of these vehicles in the future.
I agree, have my 300 TDI and a 1974 S3, but these vehicles require a passion and enthusiasm with a bucket of mechanical and welding ability, competent DIY/Farmer Style. But that's not what most folk want from a Range these days. It's all the bells and whistles to pamper and a motor that requires a satanic quantity of oil that the owner must never touch for fear of being consumed in the fires if consumer hell lol. 6.66 Litres, you just can't make that up!
I stopped by earlier this week and looked over the RRS - really loved the colour combination and seems to represent good value for money - another good video.😊
This is still the knock on from the Covid period. Prior to that an 11 year old car was low in value, but now the same cars are double what they were age for age. The faults are all still there though. I wonder when the lower end of the market will drop? The near new and year old end has dropped back noticeably.
For that sticky soft-touch material, the cheapest and easiest stuff to remove it is methylated spirit (£3 a bottle), a rag and some elbow grease. It will usually leave the plastic underneath glossy but not sticky any more. We see it a lot with electronics from that era, that otherwise work fine if not for that. It’s so annoying they continue to do this…
Nice one Joe - I ❤ my 2014 L494 autobiography in Indus Silver and 79k on the clock. FMDSH. 22inch rims and mine’s got Parking Assist as well as all the rest of it. I had Urban at Milton Keynes fit their side steps to prevent door dints. Think that cost me a tad over £500 but so worth it! Therefore I obviously appreciate it when you do RR content 👍 Oh yeah, thanks for the tip on how to clean 🧽 off those weird sticky buttons!
@@SamGittings Yes don’t be fooled with leather. Most interiors are faux leather. Man made. A steam machine loosens up the grime ready for brushing and hot water with something like brisk. Magic sponges providing you use your common sense to stop when you have lifted the grime. You don’t want to remove the colour from the faux leather.
All new Land Rovers built from 1st July 2013 have their full-service history available to access online. All scheduled services, related service items, and body inspections are accessible. The vehicle history is updated each time the car goes to an Approved Service Centre. All you need is the VIN.
Just a little bit of inf re the Topdon Topscan. It will work fully for the 1st year and then after that its something like £49 a year to keep it fully functional. If you dont pay up it loses a lot of the functions like the EPB reset, oil reset etc.
@@OH2023-cj9if me neither. I looked at it and thought it looked really good. It would do all the basic things I want...epb reset, service reset, abs bleeding etc... but I'm only going to be doing these things now and again, so by the time I get round to using some of thes eit will probably have run out of time. Might actually be a better bet just to buy a new one if there is a discount available.
@CookieMonsterawr you want to spell it Weston, you spell it that way. Well spell it how we want two thanks. In fact. I'll even go the hole hog and spell it western. (And yes. All these tipos are just to pi$$ you of.
Not surprised RE the Evoques… when I was working at an independent prestige dealer in 2018/19 we had loads of issues with them with the diffs exploding…
I'm in the car business and won't touch any Land Rover product. They have all sorts of known problems and often bite you on warranty after a sale. Easier ways to make a profit.
You are doing great work. Thank you. Very honest. You give people an orientation of how the RR are sold on auctions and what the retail are. Commendable
Auctions can bite you badly ! And if a car is over 4 years old there is a good chance it holds a dark and expensive secret ! Years ago I bought a Maestro at BCA Blackbushe -- on closer inspection everything on the car was worn out past sell by date - managed to offload it at a small loss...
That grease on the buttons and surfaces apparently comes from products people use for cleaning cars. If you use the wrong products they build up to leave a sticky residue.
This Range Rover now looks like a different vehicle, both mechanically and cosmetically. Well done Joe, I hope you get the profit you deserve when you sell it❤.
Had a 3 year old 49k miles red rr purchased from a car supermarket. Second week it would not start, Car supermarket asked for it back to investigate. AA returned it. Two days later car supermarket phones me, service boss says he has just sent me an email but they would like to buy back the car and offer a 'gesture of goodwill' Email was terms & conditions of the buy back agreement. Agreed to the buy back and a significant discount off any vehicle in their 3000 on site stock. Purchased a toyota landcruiser from them, its been faultless and not red ❗ Red cars 🚫
Walsall is to Birmingham as Weston is to Burham 🤬 chalk and cheese, both comparisons. My parents were from Brum and moved to Burham on retirement (not far from the Rosewood) so I have spent a fair amount of time in all 4 areas and Walsall has nearly as many inbreeds as Burham😉
These cars have had problems with spontaneously catching fire. Has it had the recall? Also the crankshafts split in half and the oil pump tends to fail. On a cold start the oil pressure should go to max in around 2 seconds. Any longer and any clattering you have the faulty oil pump design. The first 40K Km you should be ok. After that toss a coin.
Clearly you're not feeling any of the issues I've heard about with insurance companies raising peoples LR or RR insurance through the roof. A mate of mine had to sell his recently as he's moved to London and was being quoted something like £500/month to insure it. Apparently they're the most desired cars to steal. I can see why as that red one looks amazing.
Interesting that Land Rover has to use a complex and unreliable stability system to make the cars handle reasonably while the X3 and X5 handle great just due to good suspension geometry !
Thank you Sir, that was an entertaining watch, and list of components, all of which are completely useless to a Classic Defender owner, driver and fixer lol. But I wouldn't want to throw 1/2 a ton of dirty deer fencing equipment, or logs in the back of such a pristine palace. These are luxury motors with more fail points than Liz Truss, so the seat module didn't shut down properly says it all !! The new Defender is a very capable vehicle with it's stylistic nod to the past, but like a new John Deer tractor, you are disallowed to repair them yourselves. Which for a Farmer is very bad news, and for an adventurer in the wilderness or remote location a total disaster,; because you just can not fix a new Defender anywhere in the world. But you can fix or get fixed the far more rugged classic Defender, anywhere and by almost anyone! That's the real difference. Self reliance is a part of our British identity, and good on you Joe for rising to the challenge and keeping some of the more fragile Ranges going and harking a living at the same time. Your a true Brit 👍 Classic ruggedness is not what most folk want from a Rangie these days. It's a luxury cruzer and all the bells and whistles to pamper ones self esteem; and a motor that requires a satanic quantity of oil that the owner must never touch, for fear of being burned, in the fires if consumer hell lol. 6.66 Litres, you just can't make that up lol Thanks Joe 😂
Why you buying monster motors ?? When everyone wants cheap motoring !! Toyota aygo !! And the like !!! Great insight on your business!!! Genuine bloke !!! Fair play 🎉
My mate looked at a Ford Ranger in Bordesley, Birmingham. Sh*t hole car dealership. Someone had emptied a bucket of dirty oil on the engine and they tried to tell him it had been serviced and cleaned. lying through their back teeth. We walked away
When I was a kid growing up in rural west country I thought wow when I would see a range rover on a country lane. Now when I see one I truly pity the owner and I worry about his family, can they still afford food, will it cause a marriage break up?
been around used car dealers all my life and Joe is a super lad really honest guy and would love a job at his car dealers I sold 38 cars month before last for the car drome in Essex got nearly 3k in commission would work very well with Joe keep up the good work mate would like to pop in a see you some time so if u get a chance to read this drop me a message
My mate has just got his car from Walsall. By his car I mean the tracker took it to the driveway of someone who robbed it from his house and thought just changing the plates would do 😂
Great video , Great profit margin (if all stays well ?)Great car dealer, Great time watching the channel, Everything is just GREAT with shifting motors . Keep up the great work Joe and the team ..
What a great video, interesting cut in’s drone shots good graphics a well thought out video, and you managed to make money from British car auctions, not an easy task to do 👍
mate with this vid it will sell as you have gotten all the problems done ... with proof ... it also shows that you do give a shit about what you sell and thats a good thing
Maybe more than one lower arm like the S-line Audi suspensions - Main dealers can price suspension arms at probably 3 times the cost you can get the same arm with the original Manufacturer from a motor factors like GSF, ECP etc. If each arm say (4 in total) is £120 each at the motor factors - Land Rover charge for example £300 each. Prob £200 per hour labour at main stealer for 4 hours labour and that can make up the cost. This is all just an example. Ask for more detailed breakdown on the costs. If they don't want to do this take your custom elsewhere.
I had a supercharged 5 ltr V8 sport what a bag of sh$t when i worked was so fast but spent more time in the work shop than on the road was so happy when I sold it bought a new ford ranger had it for 3 years now and not had any problems with it at all
Hey Joe, thank you for the Top Don promo code, I’ve invested in one and used it this week, fab bit of kit 👌 love your channel btw, keep up the good work 😃
Can the TopDon interrogate the LED headlight computers? I have a few code readers and they will not go this far in to the computers in the car, not even to get proper fault codes. The main dealership can, but they want £3800 to throw parts at it, not diagnose.
Looks you done good with a Luxury car mate with me i don't take risks like that but looks like it paid of for you and only 80,000 miles 2013 nice looking as well
