Just how common can you make the Rod of Discord? 

What are your thoughts on this? Does it make it a little tooooo ez to obtain or is it totally valid lol?

I’ve been playing terraria for a majority of my life, but I’ve never found the rod is discord on my own, the only way I ever got to use it is through multiplayer servers

just as a note: lantern nights are not finite! after defeating moon lord, they can happen randomly, with a 1/14 chance every 5-10 nights. so, if you're farming the rod for post-game completion or shenanigans, keep an eye on the skies!

*Advice for the Lucky Coin:* If you get the Discount Card or the Gold Ring you can throw then in shimmer to swap the items and get the Lucky Coin (and yes, you can throw it back into the shimmer to get the original item back).

Right before I was gonna give up getting the rod I just happened to get it on the last guy I killed, 99% of gamblers really do quit before they win!

Something to note about throwing coins i the shimmer: The max coin you can have is 0.2 from 1 platinum, which will last for 3 minutes and 51 seconds. Throwing more coins won't increase the timer, but just restart it just like potion buffs So instead of waiting for a lantern night you can throw a platinum coin for almost 4 minutes of max luck, kinda expensive but consistent and repeteable

When the most busted item is actually more obtainable than any of the Zenith mats

My first rod of discord was obtained on 1.2 mobile. The old mobile version had a bug where chaos elementals would not spawn in an underground hallowed biome because the hallowed bats/slimes would always spawn and prevent chaos elementals from spawning. You had to place pearlstone in rows and place ebonstone/crimstone under the pearlstone to cancel out the hallowed biome but still allow for chaos elementals to spawn.

In my second playthrough I got TWO in an hour and never got it again and now I am in my tenth playthrough this tutorial will be very helpful thank you sock

I built a hallow farm that utilized many thing that helped with farming Chaos Elementals. It used conveyer belts to move the loot down to the player, one way platform hoiks to get the chaos elementals stuck in one place so they can’t run away from the farm, and dart traps to kill them while they’re stuck on the hoik. I got around three rods.

I got the rod of discord today in not even an hour, just after my farm was finished and the quick stack system was set up. And I only used a hallowed torch, a garden gnome and greater luck potion. Edit: I just noticed the Garden Gnome didn´t affect me.

Tip: don't fish for luck potions. get the galaxy pearl if you want but your time is better spent actually farming for the item instead of luck potions

3:10 actually I think after you beat Moonlord the NPC’s will regularly do lantern nights in honor of you freeing the world from evil

I managed to get the rod of discord pretty easily without knowing how rare it was, I was gonna sell it because I thought it was useless, but I realized teleporting was a pretty good thing to have, especially when exploring caves.

My first playthrough I didn't even notice I picked the RoD up until I was sorting my items (and then every one after was in Calamity where you can just buy it)

Funny story, i made the Rod of Discord farm, runned it for like 2 hours, then gave up. 2 months later or so, my friend (new into terraria) accidentaly got it. Not only that, but he got 4 OF THEM. Idk what's bro's chances.

i still love the fact that when i joined terraria i didnt know what rod of discord was so i accidently got it on my 6TH CHAOS ELEMENTAL IN THE ENTIRE GAME and was like "oh what is dis thingy" *spams it and proceeds to die*

Keep in mind: With a Garden Gnome, the right torch , the galaxy pearl and the accessories, you can boost your luck to 0.53 just about anywhere, which is extremely good for any mob farm you make and any fishing spot you use.... although you really aren't going to get much use out of the accessories for fishing in classic mode, since 5 slots can be used up for fishing accessories alone. A simple and efficient farming setup is invaluable as well, though.

i played 1.2.4 for countless hours on my old xbox 360. occasionally i still boot it up to look at my old characters and none of them have the rod of discord. its a thing of legend. have never got it

I actually got the Rod of Discord my first time going into the Hallow after it was added. Didn't know what it dropped from, and I didn't know what it did yet, but I figured it must've been a common item because of that.

In my master mode world, I somehow managed to get my hands on TWO Rods of Discord from a small underground hallow farm. I’ve never got it before, and I was surprised to even get one.

Both the times i got the RoD it was by complete accident when i was making a queen slime arena in the dont dig up and getfixedboi seeds.

on my most recent playthrough, I got it on my first chaos elemental kill in that world along with bessed apple and one more item like that. It was my second time getting it too.

I get spoonfed the staff, only started playing again recently but as soon as I entered hardmode and went into the pearlstone areas I found 1 on my 3rd kill after hearing how it's so good and very rare haha needless to say I was pretty stoked to see a drop like that so early in my playthrough.

i remember getting it for the first time on the xbox 360 randomly and thought to myself "wow this thing is incredible" had no idea how i got it. played terraria again a few years later and realized how low the drop was and how lucky i was. i go for it every time of course

One time in my terraria world I was minding my business in the underground hallow and got the rod of discord on accident while not even farming for it. After a few months I somehow totally lost it and have never found it since.

i knew about the luck stat in the game but i never really got into it cuz people kept telling me its a very complicated thing and after 2000 hours i finnaly understand how op this is omg

YES YOU Finally found a Way to make farming the Rod of Discord possible with out having to grind hrs of life to get it

i had a miracle happen recently on a master zenith seed playthrough, i was out of money (goblin tinkerer my be-hated) so i had to shimmer reforge. the hallow showed up in the shimmer, the VERY FIRST chaos elemental i saw and killed dropped the rod. I was absolutely flabbergasted.

I've just started playing master mode recently and I was super lucky when I first entered hard mode and got the rod of discord and Medusa's head in only a few kills.

Theoretically you could make a more efficient farm to kill enemies quicker through the use of hoiks and teleporters etc

i love that the acronym for Rod of Discord is RoD

I was in journey mode collecting crystal shards and souls of light for duping when I got the rod before my 50th Elemental. Then later on I got a second one before my 150th Elemental.

During my first time playing through master mode, I went into the underground hallow and the second or third elemental I killed dropped a rod of discord.

I randomly got a rod of discord and then about an hour later a crimson key

I got the rod by random on my first playthrough, determined that it was useless, and never used it lol. Ive never found another one since. My computer even ate that save so i cant go back and use it lol.

I will forever remember my 1st playthrough, I was trying to find a hive in hardmode, when this funny lil' goober showed up and dropped a rod. My 1st ever chaos elemental dropped the R.O.D.. I then promptly died by using it too much in a row

Didn't know about lucky horseshoe and coin boosting luck. You would think it's kinda obvious given the theme, but game never mentions it either lol Just checked out, it's 1.4.4 feature so I feel less stupid about not knowing it

I played terraria with a friend for the first time a few days ago (on expert mode ofc). I proceeded to get rod of discord on the first drop. It took him like over an hour lol

rod of harmony really changed the entire world by not inflicting chaos debuffff

I got the rod once on a random play through while just exploring the underground hollow. I got it on my seventh kill of those guys. I’m not joking. I paused and contemplated the screen for a good 5 minutes thinking what the actual fuck just happened

idea, get the potion crafting station from the dungeon, craft the pink luck potion, throw it into the shimmer, make it again, throw it into the shimmer, make it again then repeat. Might duplicate pink pearls?

Lantern night, garden gnome, and torch luck are the easiest and fastest ways to increase luck.

Did the grind on my normal world, took me 4 days straight to get only one drop, and then i got 3 drops on the span of 1h that 0.2% drop rate can be fun somethimes (i didn't used the celebration seed, but i wish i did lol)

Once I got RoD before the first Chaos Elemental banner... It was the 34th CE who dropped it.

Don't even know if I ever got one in vanilla without reduced grind mod

The other day I actually got 2 rods of discord in under one minute. Me and my friend were amazed that our ring was that good!

You can have a 100% drop rate for the rod of discord, it still will be a 10 hour grid

was playing with my friend yesterday, just got into hard mode and we killed 3 chaos elementals 2 dropped rods

The first time I got to hardmode I found The geode and really liked it so I farmed for it in a granite hallow and i got 5 rods of discards in 30 minutes The craziest part was that I just killed enemies and then put their loot in a chest this was without beating any mech Bosses

One quick tip for getting loads of pink pearls is to use a luck potion and Stand by a garden gnome and have the biome torch luck to maximize your chances of getting them this can get you loads of pink pearls on a matter of minuts

I usually don't farm for RoD but I just got it randomly on my last playthru while trying to get the angler quest. Guess the angler isn't that bad huh

pretty sure...you can't be afk at least not without a flying mount or some sort of belt mechanism to keep you moving since player needs to have moved at least some distance within a couple seconds

Ive been plating terreria since furnaces looked like semicircles and still yet i have never gotten a rod of discord, im playing terreria calamity mod with master mode and death mode so this might be usefull. Edit: you could also try battle potions water candles and turtle shell armour to increase spawn rates for more elementals.

Also use master mode as it gives rare drops a boost in drop rate

terraria still manages to introduce little things that i didn't know about i have over 900 hours on vanilla and 200 on tmod and i did not know that the lucky horseshoe increased your luck

So basically get luck to 1 and you cut down the grind by 1/3, pretty good

I've been playing terraria since 1.0 and have never gotten the rod until late this year

I got to hardmode recently and i just finished getting admantite pickaxe and full orichalcum armor while i was farming ores and gelatin crystals and a chaos elemental died from a summon i had and it dropped the rod of discord ...i immediately pucked it up and took it home and out it away in my piggy bank...in my entire time of playing i have never gotten or seen 1 in my playthroughs after getting that and more loot I killed queen slime, destoyer, and twins.....idk why but this game feels easier and more slow paced at the same time i feel like they increased the drop rates of things and even spawn rates of things because pre 1.4 things felt harder and also felt like certain things or items had less chance of dropping or summoning but maybe its my rng and playthrough...just like a DS game any and every playthrough can go different

I remember my friend was camping for like 1+ hour in his afk for a discord, while I got it under 2 minutes and he was salty xd

That pink pearl, thow. I can only stomach farming for one, to get the permanent buff. Last time I tryed, I needed 2 to 3 full game days of fishing to get one. No thanks. About the underground hallow, some things I got to learn, sometimes the hard way. Before 1.4.5, you could afk farm for those, but you needed to to be away from any player placed wall and hooked to something, that would count as you moving, so the chaos elemental could spawn. After 1.4.5, the hook doesn't seam to work, so you need to move around still (idk if minecarts could work). If you are planing to build a farm, a simple layered farm isn't as effective for hallow as it is for the corrupt counterparts. In the wiki you will see that the mob cap on corrupt caverns are way higher than in hallow. That's why clever builders make a smal artificial jungle biome, as that biome is higher and will in fact increase the hallow mob cap. It might be tempting to be lazyer and not caring to making a mini jungle in your farm, but trust me, it will take even forever to get those chaos elementals, even with battle potions and water candles.

Question for torch luck: If I'm in a biome like a hallowed ice biome, which torch should I use, ice torch? hallow torch? Or both?

touching ladybugs and golden ladybugs will also increase your luck as long as you don't kill them

What about the Butcher's Chainsaw? It may not be very good as a weapon, but it is the only tool that can truly be called a weapon. That's what makes it unique.

I've killed almost 400 chaos elementals and no rod yet...it's my first farm and I'm not very happy LOL

I think dropping a coin that's platinum in shimmer gives luck and maybe biome torches after the torch god

Got it twice in a single world while making a farm to farm souls of light, when i finished the farm i had 258 souls of lights...

Me playing calamity mod so can simply buy it from the wizard: No but seriously, before I got terraria on steam i had it on console. Me and my friend played it together a lot, and eventually we found a rod of discord before fighting golem i believe. We did a swap where he got drill containment unit and i got RoD. Eventually i got my own DCU and later a rod of discord playing solo. I think i built a farm for the 2nd one. It was a tough grind though

Rod of Grinding, Im ded. Never rly shared these vibes for grinding one, always used to get one while randomly passing by hallowed caverns.

My first world, first time visiting underground hallow (where crystals are), and ACCIDENTALLY finding a Rod of Discord hanging on an edge near a lava pool. That chaos elemental unalived itself in lava, and gave me the rod😂 Then I got another Rod of Discord almost immediately. Guess I am just lucky.

I recently found an another rod lf discord in my new character unintentionally, i was making a Crimson farm and some Chaos Elementals were annoying me and i killed one of the many and somehow one dropped

I just sat down and farmed for like 20 mins and got it today, only took like 70 of them

Would've loved to watch this a week ago when I was farming for it for hours😅😅

I've only played 2 playthroughs, and both times I got the ROD, while making a farm to grind for the ROD. *...yeah, I don't know why ethier.*
