His high IQ could lead to good defense in the future. If he truly does have a great IQ then he could manipulate the other teams offense in his favor on defense and read plays. Larry Bird did the same thing. An old great player (I think Scottie Pippen) said Larry Bird was able to manipulate players and make them move just two inches away from where they needed to be on rebounding which would help him get the rebound a lot, due to him being pretty unathletic.

I see where you are coming from with this, but I don't know about your take. Ayton is a freak athlete who may not have the basketball IQ of Doncic, but he's pretty damn good in his own right. Also, it's not like anyone over here was sleeping on him, his entire previous year was covered by major sports news sources and we all knew he was damn good. Ayton and Bagley are just freak athletes, something Doncic isn't.

Dreadus81 I know we are talking about basketball, but was Tom Brady considered a “freak athlete” for his position? A goat can come in many shapes and sizes my friend. Sure being genetically gifted is an advantage, but that’s only 5% of what really matters if you ask me.

The same Trae Young that shoots better from the free throw line and also has a significantly better assist to turnover ratio than Luka... is that the Trae Young you're referring to?
