In this day and age of "mid arm" and affordable quilting machines... your encouragement is just what we all need! Especially the "close enough is good enough"... put it all together and it's wonderful.... GB
I just watched it twice. For me, you’re like watching a prayer. I study what you do and tell myself I will be able to keep my lines this even if I keep practicing. I will be able to think fast enough to keep from swirling myself into a corner, and I will be my best self. You are a real inspiration.
Loved watching the quilting. I am never able to quilt that long without stopping because I am using my sewing machine and not a long arm. It was amazing to see how you transitioned from one shape to another.
Angela,, You are fun to watch and full of spunk and personality. I left my long arm at home and am just doing quilt tops for my trip. I did finish 9 so will get busy again when I get home....So this was great therapy to see you in action. Quite relaxing. I keep track of miles of thread used up. I did 6 miles in a month. Does anybody else look at this way. I was amazed how quickly I improved. Time on task matters. Relaxing matters and just having fun. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm and talents.
It’s mesmerizing to be truthful. I think some episodes of just Quilting is wonderful when accompanied by ur instructional tutorials. Watching the long-arm Quilting is akin to meditating for me! U r totally awesome Angela !!!!
To be honest, Angela, I enjoy the Midnight Quilt Shows more, because your delightful personality shines through and through them. Many individuals could handle the quilting portion, but adding your personality to the mix makes them truly your own and unique just as you are.
I love how you just go with the flow and don't ever tense up. Yes, it does help to watch you do the quilting and I just love it! I dread the practicing I'll have to do in order even approach how good you are at it!
I like both! Every once in a while to just see a continuous fluid quilt video, where you apply all the techniques you've taught in detail in past videos is super cool! It makes for a complete learning experience! Keep bringing it Angela, you're an awesome teacher!
That was AMAZING!!!! I love how we got to see how you would sit down and just quilt whatever you feel like as opposed to teaching how to do only one design at a time.
I loved watching this video. I'm most impressed by your quick mind, eye hand coordination, and your ability to just flow into another design without stopping to think "oh, what should I do here?" The "oh, what should I do here" is me!
Wow that's wonderful. I've begun to experiment with some of these methods in my quilting also and getting much more fluid with it. People are beginning to notice it also, commenting on how much better my quilting is getting. No more plain old "stitch in the ditch" for me, hiding my quilting in the seams. Now I feel more confident and am showing my quilting off in the blocks, enhancing the blocks themselves with free-flowing, and often random, quilting.
it sure is. I recently had 8 strips to quilt that bordered a central hockey logo - these were accents featuring the colours of the logo itself. As this as a quilt for a man and the applique logo was meant to be the feature I needed to quilt these 4" strips in a functional but not distracting or flowery way. I opted to go straight down the centre of each ( this would finish as lengthwise across the quilt ) in a "heartbeat" design. Kinda like that beep-beep line / spike /line you see on a heart monitor machine at the hospital. Weird I know but as the logo was native indian it really seemed to work. In two of the strips I quilted a slightly different version with a straight line for about and inch then a small, wider triangle point up, another 1 inch line then a triangle down. The over all effect of the alternating lines was really effective . I'd love to send you a picture
Yes, I love to watch you quilt the entire quilt. I find that I can quilt myself easier after watching you a few times. My brain just needs the practice watching as well as actually quilting. Thanks.
The hum of the machine and the flow of the stitching is mesmerizing! Watching the video without all the stops and comments was a great learning experience for me. Thank you!
Thank you very much. You are my QUEEN of free motion quilting. Other people only show on single design on a small square area of the quilt that can't help at all when I hit the end, I don't know where to turn. Here, you show how and where to turn into another motif. Free motion, remember? And I won't be bored or turn into a machine. I love it. Please, do more clips like this. I would like to know how to add another motif into a same quilt. Thanks my QUEEN.
I really love watching this. It was helpful to see how the different motifs work together and to see how flow and echoing really make a huge impact on the overall results.
I love watching you quilt. What I can’t get over is how quickly you change! I would have to pause and think about it for a while. I’m sure that comes with practice and experience. It’s fascinating to watch. I love the hum of the machine.
GREAT!! Love watching how you go from one design to another, how you get yourself out of a tight spot. Would love to see more. All feathers, with rulers, etc...
Yes I like to watch, and like to listen on how to do certain techniques. I love watching your tutorials. I am a new quilter and I am learning so much from you thank you.
Thank you for this video, it's been really helpful to watch how you move from one pattern to the next, fill in space, to see the overall effect of running one pattern into another and to see movements that I might see as mistakes just 'fall' into the design and become unnoticeable. You have made me realise I can give this FMQ thing a go! Thank you for your generosity in taking the time to make these videos, I really appreciate them and would love to see more xx
Angela, it just amazes me how you can free form your quilting and it comes out looking beautiful !! Ahhh Someday maybe I can do this !! It's like watching a ballet !! Thanks for inspiring all of us !!
Love just watching you quilt. You make it look so smooth and easy. It takes me time to think through it when going from one design to the next. I hope one day to be able to do that. Thanks for all you do for all of us. I could just watch you for hours!!
I loved seeing nothing but quilting, especially since you incorporated so many different designs. The length was terrific, sometimes just 2-4 mins is not enough to see the rhythm. Thank you for doing this kind of video. Keep them coming please!
WOW!!! I enjoy watching you quilt! For practice, I pretended I was on a long arm and tried to follow along as you quilted. You are a little fast for me, but I think the opportunity to practice like this eliminated my anxiety. It gave me the belief that I can learn to do this. Thank you Angela for being my teacher.
I enjoyed this so much, I was disappointed when it ended. I love to quilt like this and it is hard to explain to friends. I'm going to recommend they watch this! Thanks!
I could watch you quilt for hours. I want so badly to be able to move from design to design fluidly like you do. You seem to be having so much fun. No stress. Maybe if I watch long enough I can do it too. Thank you for all you have taught me with your tutorials.
I do like this because it helps visually see how to you can switch from design to design and how you can get yourself out of a tight spot but changing the design or switching to a different design.
I LOVE the way you go from one design to the next.....I know some day I'll be able to do it too.....Practice, practice......and close enough is good.....thank you.
I like just quilting sometimes. But I also like your other tutorials too. Mixing it up is good. Just like you books I bought. We learn many different ways. Keep teaching!!
I loved watching your quilting. It’s like a master class watching your transitions and how you fill various areas. I didn’t need to hear a narration, the shapes spoke for themselves. It didn’t bother me to watch you on your long arm either, even though I am a small machine quilter. The shapes and the free motion part are the same no matter which type of machine you use. I love your teaching classes, but this was great to hang over your shoulder watching exactly what you were doing.(which would probably drive you batty in real life). Thanks for sharing this!
This was mesmerizing. What I would love to see is a wider camera shot of you actually handling a full quilt on your domestic sewing machine. A bit about your set up, the ergonomics of table height versus chair height. Thanks for being awesome!
Thank you! So awesome to just watch the quilting come to life! I would greatly appreciate some more of this type of video, to see and ‘feel’ the rhythm of the movement. Tho I still love all your regular tutorials, too! Can’t get enough of those either!
I absolutely love watching you quilt away on your longarm. I've had my Simply Sixteen for a year and videos like this inspire me. I hope someday to think on my feet as fast as you do going from one design to the next. Thanks!
I see many comments about doing quilting on a domestic machine but, for me, this one is right on time since I just got a longarm (about 4 months ago) and loved seeing the fluidity of just doing it! Thanks!! So far I'm not really doing much all-over quilting. I'm trying to work out ruler work (REALLY looking forward to videos with your new rulers!!) and more precise quilting designs. Keep bringing it!!
I'm so glad to see a video where your quilting on the long arm! I love the midnight quilt shows but often wish you could sometimes quilt what you make on the long arm. So thank you, you are very talented I know it comes from practice and years of doing it.
This was a great idea for adding variety into Angela’s collection of videos...P.S...For those quilters looking for a tutorial on free-motion quilting with sit-down home sewing machines, Angela’s “Paisley Feather” video is fantastic!
This is my all time favorite video so far! I'm trying to learn to FMQ and have been learning to doodle as well. This really helps to see how to transition from one shape to another and that one shape doesn't have to be "finished" before moving to another. Thanks so much!
Watched this just before bed. I’ll be quilting in my dreams, better than counting sheep. More please. I like the transitions between designs and the variety.
I really love this video. I've watched it several times. I get wonderful ideas watching you quilt. You make it look so easy and fun. Please keep them coming.
I would love for my brain to switch from one design to another design so fluidly. I could watch you quilt all day. I feel I am half decent on a domestic machine but it is hard to move so quickly when you are moving the whole quilt. Thanks for all you videos!
Your tutorials are sooo inspiring!!! I do like the ones where you do the quilting. I also like to hear your tips while you are doing the quilting. Thanks so much.
Amazing! You are so talented! Your expertise comes from practice, patience and your love of quilting shows - you are an excellent teacher. I do not have a longarm, but would love to see more using a home machine.
I have always loved to watch you quilt. You were the first free motion quilter I watched. You have such a smooth quilting habit, and quickly move from one design to another. The result is absolutely beautiful. Also, I like your emphasis on getting it done instead of trying to be perfect. I am too old to expect to be as near perfection as you, but you inspire me to be better.
Whew, I am out of breath just watching you zip right along. I do enjoy your commentary though on the videos. You really have a great sense of humor and crack me up quite often.
I can't believe how quickly you covered such a large area. I was mesmerizing to watch and inspiring...now I want to go work on my long arm even more just to play with all over designs! Thank you!!!
YES!!!!Loved it. Your therapy was my therapy for the day. I'm just amazed how you can go from one design to something different. My brain was scrambling to keep up, but it was kinda like a roller coaster. A twist this direction, a swirl that direction and off we go loop d loop up over and around. Wow. Yes, you could do more videos like this. I see how to interact those random lines into a happy cohesion. A few lines I haven't seen in your past videos as well. So yes, until our next therapy session, I will be happily quilting. Thank You.
