Join me for an interactive live chat and demo! I'll demonstrate how easy it is to combine machine quilting designs on a home sewing machine, plus I'll answer your questions live!
Hi Angela, I am in the Netherlands and cannot follow the live chats in real time due to the time difference. So the first thing I do the next day is look at your tutorial/webinar. I love this format, this in reaction to your question. Could you please clone yourself and create a Dutch version :-). Hope you will keep on sharing your knowledge for years to come. Warm regards from a rainy Netherlands.
Hahaha, A cone of thread under my bobbin. That would be awesome. For me, just having a machine that would let me know I ran out of bobbin thread. And the meandering line, I pretend I'm a drunk ant walking on the back roads of Kentucky. That works well too. I'm getting ready to quilt a baby quilt for a little girl and need to get ideas and get psyched up again. Nothing better to help me get there than watching you. As always, it doesn't matter how old your videos are, the content is great. Thanks.
I missed the live, but I really enjoyed the replay. Please keep doing these lives where you demonstrate “how to.” It’s very helpful! 🌷 For all the ones wondering which color Glide threads are in “Angela’s Favorites” bundle, here they are: WARM GREY (tan) CORK (golden brownish tan) (Wd sub nicely for a golden thread.) GERMAN GRANT (dark mushroom) SHADOW (dark grey w/a slightly brownish tint) YELLOW WHISPER ( lt. yellow w/slightly golden tint) (versus CHIFFON (which is a pale icy lemon) ) PALE MIST (lt. mint green) COTTON CANDY (very pretty lt. Pink) (Thread colors look a little different in person than on the screen.) 🌷
Angela, you are a treasure. Thank you so much for sharing these videos with us. You are an excellent teacher and an inspiration. This is exactly the video I needed at this moment as I try to quilt all-over random designs on a curvy log cabin quilt...including my first swirl chains!! Much love and gratitude 💕
Just love these live demos - they make the books all come alive ! I have almost all of your fmq books and the Craftsy classes, and these demos are the icing on the cake. Thank you so much - long may they continue. Sheila. UK.
I LOVE to watch you demonstrate while you instruct! It helps me understand the process and the flow of the design. Thank you for teaching us! I have learned lots!
Thank you Angela I have really enjoyed your chats and you have taught me so much I'm a long arm quilter self taught and you have really inspired me thanks
Love this all I have to do is get what is in your brain in my brain. All kidding aside this is very helpful for me! I need someone to help me think!! I’m still in the stage of even stitches with my hand movements. Thank you for your help!!
Great teaching, as always! I found the meander harder than other designs to begin with because there is no good place to stop and regroup/plan where to go next. Paisleys can be tricky to get the tear shape but at least you have places to stop and breathe. Just making loops or hearts with meander between is way easier than a plain meander for the same reason.
I love the live demo w/ chat. What is best about your teaching is you teach and then you teach how to be forgiving of mistakes. I’m not sure that I’m saying that in a way to make others understand. I use to get my seam ripper and rip out “my mistakes” I use a practice piece of fabric and no matter what i put on it I leave and the end result looks good with and without my mistakes. They are not as noticeable as I use to think they were... My biggest takeaway from your lessons are to not pick out.... leave it all no matter what and the end result does not look like a bunch of mistakes...Thank You
Love your chats and teaching. Thank you. I could listen to you over and over again, because I am reminded of things I needed to hear again or I pick up something new. I was one of the ones who said I didn’t believe you on the doodling, but it helps so much.
First time on live from Billings MT. I visited your shop in May. I was soooooo happy! I bought the kit for the quilt on your wall with all the wonderful sewing words. A group of us are making it for our favorite shop owner’s shop.
Hi from Riverside CA. It’s my first time live. Angela I have learned so much from you. I love ruler quilting and free motion, thanks to your videos and kits! Thank you so much!
I also love the live demo! I would like to see you go at it for a while to see how/when you are moving your hands on the fabric. There are a lot of things people don't say but you can pick up on just watching from start to finish!
Keep on with the live demos. All good. Thanks you’ve taught me so much in my FMQ journey on my HQ Sweet Sixteen. I agree with you, quilting is the best part 👏👏
I really enjoy your videos. You make things look so easy. Do you have a book of stitching designs you’ve done on some of your easier quilts. I would like to see if I could follow your designs on a quilt of my own. I also wonder if you could some of earlier videos for beginners. Thanks for being so motivational and positive.
Love the demo and your commentary. Would be more helpful if the actual stitching is more close-up BB or magnified somehow. Thanks for sharing your talent.
I'm so glad I found your tutorials. I have a few small quilt tops that I have hibernating because I'm scared to quilt them. I am now excited to try one with your examples. Thank you!!! You make it look so easy (which I'm sure it is not) and fun!!
Great job on the live demo...I loved it! Amazing how you can multi task thinking, talking and quilting at the same time. Something I can shoot for. I liked how you describe how you think and change designs. I found this video very helpful and inspirational...I can do this. Thank you!
Love the live demo just wish I had time to watch it all at once damn husband and life gets in the way. Love your work Angela just finally bound the last fmq challenge yeah what’s next can’t wait 😜
Love the live demos. I was impressed at how quiet your machine was though. My Bernina Q20 is LOUD and is the common complaint of that machine. I just put on music. I enjoy the live demos and like the format of how you answer questions. It doesn’t seem like it interrupts the flow of the videos.
Hi Angela- thanks for doing the live demo during the chat. Nice to get some real life tips and witness we are not the only ones with shredded thread! Do have a follow up question: how to keep stitch length even when starting and stopping to reposition hands? Thanks Sandra
I have a small dry-erase whiteboard (about 40cm square) that I use to practice sketching designs. Easy practise in front of the tv and to clean repeatedly.
Regarding the question which design to begin with: funny, I've already mastered feathers and swirls, but I am still struggling with the meander... Maybe my brain is too structured for that design. I'll try your tip about flowing river. Hopefully it will help!
