I bought my T/A 392 6 speed manual because it was in my price range. It’s paid off, and I don’t want anything else.

Here’s the bottom line. Neither route is wrong. To each his/her own. But the issue with the 6.4, if you want to get to Hellcat/Redeye power, you have to upgrade the pistons. With a 5.7 you don’t have to. Living proof right here. There are more modded 5.7s than people realize and people continue to mod them to compete with the big boys for less money in the end. Love the 5.7!

I use to trade up but scat pack is special to me. When I was buying my first challenger there was no hellcat the big dawg was the 392. I’m dropping mine off at MMX extreme next month for cam and longtube headers next will be a stroker I don’t plan on ever getting rid of this car.

The insurance was almost double for me between the R/T and the Scat. So if I can mod my R/T to be as fast or even faster than a Scat while keeping my insurance low...........Why the Fark not?!?!

I think it’s everyone’s own decision sometimes you mod and have fun in the process. Some may just want to start off with the highest trim. But then again there will always be that guy that’s says you shoulda done this got that etc.

I paid $5k to build my 5.7 Challenger. Texas Speed Stage 3 cam JBA Long tube headers “Hellcat” lifters racing springs custom tune. She came alive and scat packs 5.0 slostangs and cameros can’t hang

I would love a Hellcat but I was only able to afford my ScatPack Challenger.

I think you better stand on a couple phone books the next time you interview this guy. 5.7 is definitely the best platform for modding. So much room for improvement.

I got a 2015 charger AWD with the 5.7 It's an ex police car. I rebuilt the engine with good rods and pistons just incase in the future I want to add boost. I have a 6.4 intake, JLT CIA, 87mm throttle body, 1 colder plugs, custom flex fuel tune, 3.09 gears. From a dig on street tires scats and hellcats aren't going to catch me in the 1/4. From a 40 roll I can beat scats no problem, hellcats only run a little with them but they struggle to get away from me🤣Maybe a 150 shot of NOS🤔 Would put some cats in my rear view mirror, hurt some feelings. Tons of fun on the street and I can drive it anywhere with decent fuel mileage.

The problem with hellcats builds, Yes there fast n much cheaper to modify cuz there already supercharged obviously, but EVERYONE builds them! There no uniqueness to them it's just a copy and paste recipe that works.

Back in the day not everyone had the top dog factory muscle car, they bought what was affordable & modded as $ allowed. The difference today is all the toxic people on social media crapping on everybody for not getting the meanest top dog factory car when most of them have to ask to borrow their moms Kia Soul to go out.

As a former Ford guy I must say that the mopar community is a bit disappointing personally. I see ford/chevy guys buying the ss/gt and modding the heck out of them at the track and they rarely have the mindset of 'just buy a zl1/gt500' but the mopar community has a 'buy a hellcat' mentality bad. It's as if the mopar family has less gear-heads who want to turn a wrench. I expected a little more actually 😑

Much like your car when you build something yourself and you don't buy it a little more special and it gets a lot more attention Everybody knows how fast the h*** cat is You put some slicks on it or drag radios it's a different animal totally And us as Mopar owners are kind of numb to it but when you see a belt scap pack a built RT running good numbers and sounding amazing you take notice you're interested you wanna know what they did you asked them questions What are you gonna ask a hellcat owner how much are you monthly payments Because you just can't relate to what they're doing But if you're naturally aspirate you need to see a twin Turbo on Earth or a torque storm supercharger vortex etc You're interested how they did what they did in the process so people are more engaging to those owners than a h*** cat owner

Did he really not have a cam? Confused how he got everything at such a good price yet is still at $6k in mods without a cam lol. But shit, if he DON'T have a cam, he held with that scat pretty good, and I think he could take a scat with a cam.

I just bought myself a 2016 challenger rt+ 5.7l 6 speed 3.90 lsd with 9945 original miles and im super happy with the power especially since I went from a 2002 honda civic 1.7l with 100hp to a challenger rt and is plenty of power as of right now and I picked the 5.7l over the 392 for mods anyway the 5.7s with boost and the right mods can beat demons (modern red hemi) so why pay crazy insurance and payment when I can have a sneaky rt that beats the crap out of 90%+ of the cars you actually come across on the street and besides I was once that ricer and now it's just fun as hell even with a bone stock rt to beat up on little civics or rice rockets but (rt life) every one's been asking me the same why I didn't get a 392 and I simply reply because your not paying for it and that ends that conversation right there and because most people who are talking crap about the rts are people who don't even own even a sxt smh

If you have deep enough pockets and don't already own a 5.7/6.1/6.4l, then sure, get yourself a hellcat. That said, enjoy your hemi, whatever displacement it is, work with what you have and build it up. It's more personal and rewarding. :)

I am sick of the Hellcat comment. As someone who is building a Scat I can give a great breakdown. I looked at trading up. To get a Hellcat with all the options I have now I’m looking at 79k per the dodge website. That is almost $25k to the penny more than my Scat. On top of that my Scat was 0% for 72mo. It is currently at 2.9% through Chrysler for 72 on the cat. I’d have to eat the interest on the car. I would be at $1100 a month with 10% down. I already have it priced for my build and dates booked. I’m still less than a Hellcat. Now prior to this stupid inflation the pricing was closer. The Hellcat does offer a better platform if your looking to be at 1000hp that can’t be argued really. Most of the go with a Hellcat arguments I hear also don’t come from true enthusiasts who just celebrate cars for what they are and the art behind modding. In my experience it’s from the young and entitled, financially gifted (wealthy financial backers aka parents), internet tough guys, and the people who give the car community a bad name. I enjoy your channel specifically because you celebrate cars and never bash someone’s ride no matter the specs. Keep up the great content.

Its the best if u can no doubt. But money can become an izzue at times so me n many others have to take time. I will never sell or trade i looked into it a few time n it sou ds better n cheaper but i cant afford it.

Personally I love the look of my Octane Red 2017 Daytona 392 and the combo isn't even available in a hellcat... so I'm good. A bunch of good bolt-ons can make any 5.7 or 6.4 a great street fighter.

It is a lot of fun modifying the underdog. It's the difference between the guy who wants to play gear head and the guy who wants to buy it and drive it...

Not everyone wants what everyone else can get. The process (modding) makes the car YOURS! I perfer modding a underdog myself. You see 392's especially stock ALL DAY LONG! It's to the point I don't even look twice at them anymore.

Building up your car makes it special and 1 of a kind, all builds are different and reflects the personality of the owner, when my warranty runs out on my 392 I’m thinking of stroking it out to a 426 n/a because that’s my dream build!!

I could easily get a Hellcat or a Redeye… or a Super Stock would stretch me a little bit but it’s attainable. The reason I don’t trade up is because I enjoy being the underdog. 😁 I have a Wide Body Scat Pack that I plan on building to run with the top dogs. It’s gonna be a fun experience building her.

R/T engine is effective got 2011 ram 1500 5.7 Laramie.

I traded my 18 challenger ta 392 for a 19 challenger hellcat redeye narrow body and the only reason was the extreme deal I got...otherwise I would never tell anyone to trade up...if your happy with your vehicle than do what ever you want....it's everyone's choice...I hear alot of cocky hellcat owners talking down to scat pack owners....those are the people I don't associate with...any mopar is your choice and budget....great video.

Big ups to both of you, coming from an Era where most car were sub 150hp Honda and stuff ,you had to actually mod your car to make power to make good times at the track, where you had to learn to turn a wrench . Now the average Mopar owner does a wrap, stickers, window tint , leds , splitter, louvers , muffler deleats tire letters ect. Then pat them selves on the back. The chanel his Hella refreshing.

I enjoy the process of building my 06 Top Banana, I spent 10 years in a dealership so I do my own work, anybody can do it just a lot of homework finding parts that work together and don't be a tight ass on parts, modding an engine is somewhat expensive but at the end of the day when you've finished building and you start it up that's the 2nd most beautiful sound after hearing your children being born!!!

I have a 392 running a procharger , I like doing a build . It’s very satisfying. I think the process is part of the fun. And I’m running stock pistons , which is possible. I installed the supercharger kit myself and it works for me . Im satisfied with how it runs . I think that’s part of it too, being content with your build.

Don't buy it. Build it. It's a way of life. If you beat someone with a pre built car the company beat them not the owner. If you built it you beat them yourself.

Some guys/ gals are comfortable modding, some are not; I come from the generation of modifying cars-from the 90’s. I justify modding by the fact that my brand new SP/ WB cost me $44k and a WB hellcat is $84k+, which is $40k in modifying 💰 to me; for $40K I can make a Nice forged 426 stroker w/ a blower and upgraded drive axles. Just saying; and yes I wanted a Hellcat WB, but dodge stopped making manuals and I don’t really have a lot of faith in the used market for these cars. Watching this channel, Mod2Fame, and others has given me the confidence to see the build to the end-I’m just looking for someone who can build me a custom motor so I can drop it in 😁

Because the Charger RT was the only vehicle approved for police work. The Charger/300 was the only vehicle with a V8, available for us. Now that I am retired, I plan on modding my RT since it's paid off. Being a car guy, I've always built whatever car I had, to my liking. Just having the satisfaction of building something is valuable in my eyes. I still plan on buying a Hellcat Redeyes and modifying it more. Why? Because I can and I love it. 😎😎😎

I have seen 5.7L outrun 392 and Hellcat. It is like that RU-vid vid of little shitty looking VW outrunning both the Lamborghini and Nissan GTR, that was racing each other. When you have underdog car like that, it makes sleeper cars so much more fun to drive and race.

my RT vin is cheap on the car insurance, you can upgrade it and still be with cheap insurance.. thats my only justification for not trading up lol

As I have said before. It's a shame that the Eagle hemi (5.7) has made the same amount of power in the chargers and challengers since 2009. Ma Mopar gave the Apache (6.4) a 10 horse bump 4 year afterit was introduced. Pre 2009 hemi engines maintained a gap of 80 horsepower between the smaller engine and the bigger engine. Why can't we have that same gap now? I gotta check out tallguyinahemi. Looks like he might be close to my height. 🤣

That's what made me get out of the car scene for a little while. No matter what I did or didn't do to my car, I rarely heard anything positive. It's always, "why didn't you do this mod" , "why didn't you just get this", "oh that's slower than this guy's car". Just killed the fun for me.

Just buy what makes you happy. But keep in budget. Insurance is a huge cost factor. Modding is still an option. Not every day is a race. But when it is, I always root for the underdog. If we had the money for a Demon, we all would have bought one. It's yours, love it or leave it. I have no regrets with mine. But why does everyone else regret my decision? I love the... How about this... You have a Hemi that's paid off... Then...the dreaded lifter Cam issue. You can't sell it at this point... You can rebuild it to stock specs or put 15k to build what you want

I just say learn to work on it yourself and spend 1/3. Junkyards are king and people dont understand it isnt hard to find parts if you have patience. Car modding is not an over night thing. A lot of people just get caught up in the clout and dont understand it is only about yourself and enjoying the process yourself. It takes time.

I say who has the right to tell someone what to do or not to do, with his or her car? It’s called life. You have people who buy hellcats and mod them to higher HP, no one says why you mod your hellcat? Enjoy what you want to do. That’s the art of modding your own car.

I my 2019 challenger rt is my first new car. Its mine. It still looks pretty basic, but i prefer simplier is better. Its still n/a but sounds like how a muscle car should, and it can still compete with scats
