So Melty Blood Type Lumina, the latest entry in the melty franchise comes out later this month so I figured why not start learning about it! Melty has always been a blind spot for me so its time to rectify that and learn about the game and all its background. In turn naturally, lemme tell you what I learned! I am always excited for new fighting games and a new Melty finally gives me the excuse to finally dive in to this franchise. If you are up for the journey I will be learning along with you!
Hey, Rooflemonger, do you think you would make a video on or perhaps play Granblue Fantasy Versus again? I know it's been a year since release, but I recently got into it and I wanted to know if you still play it, since it's sadly not a lot popular since Melty Blood and Strive kinda stole the players away a little bit.
@@pikachuattack542 At this point I don't think so I am sorry to say. To be frank the netcode at launch was the deal breaker. I just can't do anymore games that don't have rollback netcode. DBFZ is grandfathered in I guess but other than that I need to be able to actually play the games online. I live in the middle of nowhere so online play is my only option.
The remake is the best project TM has done to date hands down. It's super good. Also, it's mystic eyes of direct death/death perception not fate. And she's not actually from the moon. It's complicated but she's more like a big bloodsucking nature fairy whose race was based in part off of a moon vampire.
kinda jumped to cats right away lol, but yeah plenty of styles. Just the cats, they are weird and honestly some of the stuff im most fascinated with even if they are apparently low tier trash
the cats are so small they can run under c. roa orbs and completely ruin his gameplan in fact they ruin most of the cast's gameplan, the point of them isn't to win. it's to meme on the person you're playing against
I played Melty Blood for about an hour or so with some friends once. I remember picking a goofy maid character with broom mixups and plant oki and I have no idea what her name even is and she's one of my favorite fighting game characters ever. All I remember is getting hella drunk and laughing at everything in this franchise. It's all so over the top I love it
Watch OtakuDaikun channel, he explained this series in a very concise, easy to understand and funny way. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gqKCmIn9hSI.html
We've had Guilty Gear for the over the top oddjobs, now Melty Blood brings the students/maids along, the duality of anime is about to be restored in the fighting game genre.
2:51 Adult is definitely a better term than eroge visual novel, since the sex scenes are a very small part of the story. For anyone who wants to get in the story of Tsukihime without having to read the whole VN, just read the manga. It covers only half of the old VN story, but it's very good.
there is a manga adaptation that you can read of tsukihime its worth checking out to get the gist of the story and there is also a melty blood manga adaptation its a sequel that takes place one year after the events of tsukihime
Just be aware melty takes place in different timeline entirely and the manga is done by different author than tsukihime manga so it's not intended as a sequel to tsukihime manga
Since we have time to talk about Tsukihime, why we don't have some time to talk about Kagetsu Tohya since several of the character in Melty blood actually come from that one. If i am not remembering it wrong, Kouma, Miyako, Kohaku's Mr. Chin and Magical Amber, Hisui Brain washing Detective, Nanaya Shiki, and especially Len is debut on that one. Also if I remembering correctly, Kagetsu Tohya is joined project between TM and French Bread. There are reasons why the heorine is named LEN.
I must be one of the ten people on the planet that heard and read the Tsukihime visual novel YEARS and YEARS ago, far before it even became niche with Carnival Phantasm
The original Tsukihime visual novel was wild, and saying it's and adult game is definitely accurate, since in the original game the player had the option to pick between five routes with each girl being the focus of the route, and where those routes go is pretty dark. For instance, I'll never forget the scene where Shiki rapes Arcueid in her route, and it's shown in great detail, this was done by showing Shiki pinning her down and forcefully removing her clothes as he does the deed. Another example, is in a separate route with the player witnessing a similar scenario with Shiki's violent sexual encounter with Kohaku, which resulted in leaving the poor girl in tears. That being said, there is indeed story justification on why our protagonist does what he does, and I'll leave that for people interested in what I just presented to read the VN themselves to see what that justification is, but yeah, definitely not for the faint of heart. Still a very good read IMO, and I can see why so many people call this game a cult classic.
Already pre-ordered this game on Xbox, hoping to keep people playing that version, we've been starved from anime games for so long I can't let this one go unnoticed
The game looks great, but it looks very daunting to get in. It feels like if you don't do a 10+ hit combo you don't do damage since individual hits are so puny
Naturally im a lore fiend so I had to learn everything about the Tsukihime lore, as that is what Melty blood is based off of. This is also why I will now NEVER play Shiki Tohno. I don't know how the remake treats it, but as it stands no way im touching that guy with a 10 foot pole.
Glad you've taken the plunge. It's a deep trench if you really want to get to the bottom, but hey, just have fun melting some blood dipped with bread that's french. Also since MB doesn't really have grapplers like in other games, I'd recommend giving Kouma a try with Superarmor and Dunkin'. That way you can also cut off some Tohno heads and stay in lore.
MBAC was the first fighting game where I had to learn how to play semi-properly so I wouldn't embarrass myself against internet strangers, thanks to its fanmade netcode. Also DBFZ was so comfortable to me because, team battles aside, the gameplay felt very familiar. I expect anyone coming to Type Lumina from FighterZ should have a similar experience I'm so happy to be home again
It's always cool to see more Melty Blood content on youtube. Hopefully the smaller size of the player pool for this game compared to other fighting games doesn't stop people from playing it in the long run. Comparing it to my current favorite fighting game "BlazBlue Central Fiction", Personally, I'd be totally fine if Arc System Works just added rollback to BBCF, instead of making a brand new game, since I already love the mechanics in this current installment, and don't know how drastically they'll change the system mechanics in the new game, which could potentially result in a change I might hate, or feel like it doesn't fit in BlazBlue. I say all this because this feeling ALREADY happened to me before with BOTH Guilty Gear Strive, and BBTAG . Yes, I'm aware that both of the games I just mentioned have depth in some shape or form, but it's also undeniable that currently both of those games are also so DRASTICALLY different from their previous installments that I wouldn't blame MANY fans of either series for not sticking with them, since I know I didn't. Some may argue that if they put rollback in BBCF, it will attract less people compared to a brand new game because it's old, BUT SO WHAT? Why should a game being old have to do with your love of it. Personally, if you needed the game to have updates, or needed hundreds of people to continue playing the game and stay engage, then to me you WEREN'T really willing to rock with the game in the first place. Heck, I'd rather play the same five people in BBCF, than play a few hundred people in BBTAG . WHY? Because I LOVE the game for the system mechanics in the former and HATE the system mechanics in the latter. The only justifiable reason I can understand a fan of BBCF not playing it fully, is due to lack of rollback, since it's mad frustrating to put hundreds of hours into training mode, only for half the stuff you practiced not working online. This is the main reason why I'm settling with Melty Blood Type Lumina, since it has rollback, and the mechanics are something that I've found to be interesting, and I really don't care that the new Melty Blood will most likely have only a few hundred players compared to Strive's thousands in the long run, since I KNOW I'm going to enjoy the game with that small batch of people. Just my two cents.
I looked this up because my son is obsessed with this game. I know I do not want him playing these kind of games. However, I appreciate the thoroughness of your explanation and clearness of your voice. Great job!
rooflemonger cool melty blood introduction likewise in the same boat as you. been reading all the bios of each character that type-moon has been releasing. i been reading type-moon wiki. melty blood type lumnia is going to be my first melty blood game in the entire melty blood series. already pre ordered melty blood type lumnia digital deluxe edition via playstation store. the playstation store says september 29TH which is one day early/earlier than september 30TH launch date.
Melty Blood seems kind of interesting to look at! I'll have to think about whether or not I wanna join in! I'm not sure whom I'd like to play yet, but I guess I'd like to try one of the maids. 🤔
Just to clarify that Melty Blood had 5 main heroins: Arcueid (Vampire), Ciel (the nun), Akiha (the Ojousama which is also a vampire), Hisui (Younger maid), and Kohaku (wackass "funny" older sister maids), Yes, the maids are 2 of the official routes. Also, the variation system did MORE THAN just MK variation. The moon system even change your universal mechanic. For example, you can reverse beat in C-moon but in Full Moon, you only have regular Guilty Gear style of A>B>C gattling and no reverse beat. In return, your normals in Full moon have better frame data.
A lot of VN had hentai elements because that was a key selling point for VN back in the day. The early 2000's were an era of dating sims and visual novels. It was not a rare thing. all my homies loved them.
Melty Blood for me was the first fighting game I got to play online, Act Cadenza on a hachimachi caster on my lame ass HP Mini netbook. I knew nothing about fighting games then, it was just cool playing games with my Facebook friends at the time. I'm really excited to see how different I'm gonna see this game with the little experience I have now 😂
About Shiki Tohno's Mystic Eyes of Death Perception. He can see the lines of death on every object and every living thing, he can also see points of death. But he can't see death on thoughts and ideas. His mind is not capable to comprehend that. Shiki Ryougi from Kara No Kyoukai is the one who can do that and even destroy concepts. Everything depends on how the user of Mystic Eyes of Death Perception perceives death itself. Quote from wiki: "Shiki Tohno specializes in killing living things. Unlike Ryougi, he is not suited in the aspect of recognizing "concepts" because he was only "submerged in death". He can perceive the death of concrete physical existences, allowing him to kill people, animals, locks, walls, and even part of the planet itself in the form of killing "nature" in a specific area. He cannot see lines on things that are unable to be killed or destroyed in the current world because the standard for Shiki, as a human, is based on the limits of the people of his era."
@@rooflemonger About what stuff are you talking about? You mean the remake, og? Edit: TSUKIHIME OG VN SPOILERS UP AHEAD If you mean the final fight in og, I don't have a clue what you are talking about. Roa did not set up any stuff there whatsoever. After Roa "killed" Arcueid and started a fight with Shiki, Shiki noticed that Roa doesn't see the same things he sees (it was told earlier in the story that Roa also has Mystic Eyes of Death Perception). While Tohno can see lines of death and points of death on every object (walls, beds, concrete, grass, trees etc.) and every living thing... Roa can see lines of death and points of life only on living things... people for example. Tohno Shiki used that knowledge to slice a line of the bridge (connecting two wings of the school) they were standing on, causing it to fall. After that Shiki stabbed Roa into his point of death successfully killing him.
Thanks for the info. I'd did a commission for Novril's channel of a chibi MB scene, but never knew anything about the game. Good to know this is a prequel, and how it works. When I saw characters w/crosses, I was curious if it was Christianity. Seems it's 'the Church'. Solid vid.
Arcueid is not from the moon. The earth asked the moon for help fighting back against humanity. The moon went down here as Type-Moon and let the earth copy paste his vampire form to fight humanity in exchange for staying here on Earth. Thats the true ancestors and Arcueid is the true ancestor closest in power to the original Brunestud of the Crimson Moon.
im aware, that was the super simplified version so I didn't have to spend 10 minutes on it. She is effectively from the moon due to her lineage as are all true ancestors.
people say the character is too bland but I think its fine what not ok is the hit effect that looks like its from a flash game in the 90s I mean cmon man its 2021
I feel like the fact that a lot of the visually appealing characters and fan favorites like nero , sion , ries , wara , powered ciel , len , hime is kinda going to hurt the starting sells of melty hopefully there be dlc. I think for melty fans and tsukihime fans are very much hype for lumina, but casuals or other fg fans not so much because of the character designs or whatever else reason (and thats fair). The game not being marketed as much as strive will also kind hurt starting sells. I wish lumina good luck and i'm happy for all the videos recently made to show people the game.
Man, I still really want a Fate anime fighter. I haven't read Tsukihime (and with no NA release of the remake in sight, I probably won't anytime soon unless I get a fan translation of the original), so I've never been terribly interested in MB, but maybe if this does well they'll consider making fighting games out of Type Moon's other works!
What is Metly Blood? IDK some free PS Plus game I played, found about 5 different Waifus in, and decided the game was pretty cool from there. Whatup, Mash? Wyd tonight?
Technically Arcueid is not from the moon. She is kinda like a budget clone created by Earth from the strongest being of the moon (Brunestud of the Crimson Moon).
