Melty Blood Type Lumina is a new game with a crazy cast, so lets take a look at every character and what they have to offer you! Timestamps in video so you can skip around to whatever characters you think are neat. Cast is very diverse and I love em! Although wish there was a proper full on grappler :-0
Awesome overview of the chars, could u make a guide to master the parry in this game in detail like u use to cover. Im playing kouma and I need to master the parry with him, its essential.
Also, fun thing about the maids duo, if you are Hisui lead, using the 214A assist to get the plant, then using Hisui's 4B to water it, you get the big tree dude.
@@rooflemonger It's super good, you can water it while it spins and locks the opponent, and since the 4B is still unblockable, they'll get knocked down and forced to wakeup into the tree running them over. And even if the opponent does something, well, Kohaku threw the plant, not Hisui, so Hisui getting hit doesn't remove it like it would for solo Kohaku.
Accounting maids' story, it makes perfect sense that Hisui looks serious, but her moveset is a half-random mess, while Kohaku always acts like she is teasing you, but has a hidden katana inside her broom that she can use with the precision of cold-blooded professional
Just gonna take a moment to say your content is basically the reason I'm so into fighting games at the moment. You lay everything out clearly, have an approachable, honest demeanor and make everything so understandable. Thank you for all your effort because it's introduced me to something new that I absolutely love.
@@n64central I am… legit I get in training and the inputs are okay but when I try to do them after something even tho I can see the inputs are correct I dont get the special
Okay so last video I bemoaned the lack of grapplers/big boys, but I was unaware of being able to bake my opponent an elaborate, 3-tier cake with a persisting hitbox. I'm good now.
It's day 2, so nothing is certain, but currently, it doesn't feel like what you lose for playing maids is big enough to justify playing them alone much. You trade a single special and a single moon skill for assists version of them, but the ones you sacrifice are not that good. Kohaku lose ground molotov but she can still air molotov, meanwhile she gains crazy assists. Hisui is even better as lead for Maids because she can ask Kohaku to do the plant, and the plant won't go away if Hisui gets hit. Basically, don't play one maid, play both, even if you don't care about one of them, the one you like is better for it.
Guess Vlov is the closest approximation to Nero for the time being, but honestly just want Melty to be Rooflemonger's gateway drug to have him fall into the Type-Moon lore pit. Ridiculous History of Saber when?!
I do wish we are able to see Nero Chaos again soon. Thankfully despite with Vlov taking his role in the story, Nero is still in the lore as the 10th DAA and has a cutscene with Roa on the ge still. One plus side of doing this it means Nero is no longer the awkward mid-boss he was in the story so im hoping to see his abilities and powers more fleshed out given his rank among the Dead Ancestor Apostles
Likes/Shares/etc all very much appreciated for these longer kinds of videos, thank you in advance 🐵 Sorry for this going up a bit late, stuck in youtube processing hell for a very long time, its up though! Next up, Melty Blood Type Lumina essential tips, and then maybe we can see about putting out a combo and character guide or two
Something to be aware of is the Hisui item toss isn't entirely random. You can manipulate the items you get by pressing directions directly after the item input.
The remake might have "bleached its underpants" so to speak but it's still quite dark. From what I can tell It seems that the explicit scenes still happen but they're more implicit than explicit.
Remember guys, you can block crossup overhead just by walking backwards from the start position of the move before it crosses up(so you would be blocking into the move). Doesn't work with lows obviously.
I think an easier process 1. Pick a character 2. Go to mission mode 3. See If the characters moves in mission mode work with your play style 4. You have a main 5. Don't pick your main solely based on competitive viability because that's not picking a main that piggy backing Realistically I chose Red Arcuied because she looks cool and just learned how to play her after mission mode
This is what I had to do when I picked of KOFXIII. There was so much variety I got lost so I picked based on whose combos felt good and also had a cool aesthetic. Ended up REALLY liking Leona and even doing decent online despite my poor execution with other characters.
I think the father Anderson vibe with Ciel makes me want to play this character. Also if you don't know " ciel " is the sky in french so her name makes sense for a divine battle nun.
@@rooflemonger yes I don't hate guilty gear whatsoever I love it so much but I don't know what it is about this game that I just can't stop playing it and I see a lot of people comparing it to guilty gear so I thought I would just take my hot take

Roa was called "Honest Mids Michael" ironically because he was fucking broken. Like the idea was that he didn't really have strong high low mix cause all his best tools hit mid, but his best tools basically broke the rules of the game. 236C wall bouncing+takes up 90% of the screen+plus on block+air unblockable, orb placement (especially tk orb placement) made it so he could cut off massive portions of the screen limiting movement, he could cancel special moves into other special moves which makes the previous point much more powerful cause he can quickly place orbs but it also makes his pressure insanely strong as it makes some of his options plus on block cause he can cancel into charge lightning, he has + frames for days which can lead to problems because MBAACC had a guard bar and if you tried to block him out he would just guard break you (his specials also do insane guard damage), etc. He was mad fucked up, but "bro theyre just mids, lol"
@@myman5391 nah the term is pretty concretely used as a joke to refer to C Roa. You're right that F-Roa is honest but thats why basically nobody played that moon lol
Thanks for the Video my friend. I'm just getting into Melty blood and kinda copped this game on a whim. I'm really enjoying Hisui(with Kohaku), Noel and Saber thus far but idk which one to really focus on for my main character but that will come with time and practice. I'll see which one gives me the most success in online matches
Hisui&Kohaku is my kind of character. Had no intention of buying this game but after watching this video and listening to you break it all down, I gotta try it out
This game has a nice feel compared to uniclr but its been great so far and hope to learn more of it also with uniclr. The only thing ive been running trouble lately is matches. If not ranked mostly player matches online that ill have some matches or just suddenly drop or a message saying the timer to start ran out. On the plus side and ive been mentioning this before is the starting perameters for the music and sound are defaulted at 50% which is a good plus! I knew this game would be hugely tuned up on sound so thank god the settings were cut in half! (For switch runners anyway lol)
I played this a bit on my last train ride, and boy are the Kouma auto comvos satisfying. Then I played Kohaku and randomly got her to do the witch move to finish the set, that shit was hilarious! Now I see that she can throw out potted plants?? What a fabulous game.
Except for the "Honest mids" part, I'm definitely feeling some Chipp Zanuff-ness from Mike. Haven't played yet so maybe I'm wrong but I feel like I'm gonna killed the same way when I face guys who know what their doing.
30:16 IMPORTANT CORRECTION: Red Arc's charged 5B is both overhead and hyper-armour. It's very good for oki, just don't be predictable and do it all the time because people can shield/grab/EX-dp out of it
Appreciate it a ton for explaining some of the built in mechanics some of these characters have. I intended to start off with red arc, knowing about her armor ability but not being able to understand all of her armor moves, so without it, she just seemed like a bit of an average all rounder. I actually started off with the hisui&kohaku pairing and using Hisui because she has a lot more close range combo hits she can manage, and honestly the comedy and just Goofy and adorable nature of it looked fun. Now that I know how red arc works, I think I can get back to practicing with her and actually using her.
That's the correct pronunciation according to my tsukihime super nerd friend, and also touted as the correct pronunciation by many people in the previous video in the comments. *EDIT* shame mark removed!
@@rooflemonger I didn’t imply that you mispronounced it I was just surprised and honestly impressed how much research you’ve been putting into your vids ever since your first couple vids on tsukihime
Small thing about Kouma and his EX Command grab, it's a reversal throw! It is Invincible Frame one so if you know if they're gonna hit ya with a safe jump, you dunk em and start running your gameplan!
Vlov doesn't really feel like a zoner when you run through his trials, he's more of a grappler due to his command grab extensions and the stomp rekka that pulls you in. He's fun as all hell to play!
26:00 to all my Nappas, JackOs, MK11 Jokers. honestly the most fun ive had in a day 1 character ever. ive never had more fun just knocking a character down or being fullscreen with meter
Knowing myself, I'm probably gonna be a Ciel main in Type Lumina. Despite her inputs being a little different from an actual Shoto, she seems the most Shoto-like.
@@HWHY why not both? This game wants you to learn the engine more than specific characters, and you can do the same bnb between ciel and warc in scramble situations
