Bass are in that lake everyday. They know more about them differences than any of us will. Yup. I start my days early lookin' for roamers up shallow; then I get out to weedlines, laydowns, brush& see if anyones' home.
As always you are a bright and intuitive man and you know your craft! Here in Kansas I've always said late July all the way through August to about mid-september on the water gets the hottest it's going to get before it starts cooling off going into fall the fish spread out. I think as the oxygen levels drop in lake levels drop your deep fish your shallow fish your suspended fish they all kind of disperse and oftentimes this time of year covering water is the best thing you can do. One of my go to routines if it's available on a lake is look for flats adjacent to the main lake if they've got grass on them even better and fishing a swim jig for a ChatterBait depending on the conditions!
My pop would bring me bass fishin' after he got outta work& we had dinner. Back then, a black jitterbug thrown up riprap banks at sundown- always got a big fish to explode on it. I put together a box of just jitterbugs& whopperploppers'- im gonna try that ol' bug in places where lots of guys throw ploppers& see if it makes a difference.
An article with you on the cover popped up on Google and I recognized you from here 😭 congratulations on the bass master article it was a good read. I also recognized that old school tackle box that you made a video on 😭😭
