whoa whoa whoa... slow down now... where else is the state gonna get its free labor? hard criminals... oh hell naw we can't have our leo's doing anything about them... they might hurt themselves
@@johninflorida8634who do you propose work those jobs? Highly motivated go getters 😂 you probably complain about the price no less while their biggest expense is wages
@@opirathaboooooooo move to Saudi Arabia or China then. We already tried such authoritative illegality with alcohol and currently do so with weed. How has that worked out? Billions for cartels? Use your noggin
The “next step” will never happen and even if it does happen it will be another hundred years. They like ruling over everybody too much to make it legalized and decriminalized
All drugs should be legalized. We need safe access, harm reduction education. This drug war is a failure. It just increased more deaths, and filled our prisons with non violent drug offenders. Making something that’s a mental health issue, and is already risky behavior. To make it more dangerous is just not logical. Alcohol prohibition, and the US govt poisoning and allowing illegal alcohol to hit the streets. In order to scare people from using alcohol. Thats says the government’s entire motive. If heroin was legal, we would not have fentanyl. What are we doing criminalizing drug use? We are allowing criminal organizations to thrive, and abuse their customers. Charging obscene amounts for an impure product. Even if you hate drugs. Think about how much crime we could reduce? How many less victims there could be?
They normally give a 20 plus sentence for those that are trafficking cannabis by the kilo and if found to be gang affiliated. I remember they gave my neighbor a four month sentence for carrying cannabis on his dashboard cup also under the influence and they gave this other guy near a liquor store 30 years for having 3 kilos of cannabis with a large sum of cash. Plus he was a well known Crib. All took place in California.
@@joaquinlepiz3858 People got caught, and pointed their fingers at a woman, whom did not realize she was a dealer (lol). She got 20 years. She figured a way out of it, and got pregnant while in prison. As a result, they let her out early. But, your friends will finger you, to reduce their sentences.
This is the exact reason it was outlawed in the first place. Hemp was replacing TONS of products. It was causing the govt and big businesses to lose money. So what do they do? Make it illegal. "I don't like what you're doing and it's losing me money, so I'm making it illegal!" Giant toddlers.
@@xNekomancerx-fx7ey cocaine should not be legal.... nor should other poisons that are extremely deadly... you're saying that poisons that can be slipped into drinks, or given as pills, etc, that literally instantly khll people or paralyze, etc etc. that are found in peoples possessions, shouldn't get them arrested??? weed should be legal. but the whole "all plants should be legal" or "making a plant illegal is crazy" is such a tired, nonsense argument.
As someone who has chronic migraines, fibromyalgia and arthritis, marijuana has made all the difference in my ability to function. I have been able to completely eliminate my hydrocodone prescription and ny doctor is thrilled by it.
Cannabis is real medication. Everything else is just a drug. I have arthritis from a broken back as a toddler, fibromyalgia, and other more minor ailments. I 💯% understand. 🙂
Make Alcohol a Schedule 1 (Highly addictive and no medical uses) that’s the literal definition of alcohol. This is also coming from someone who stopped smoking weed over a year ago for good
@@ScrubbaDubDub correct but same thing can be done with any drug either way or reduce the amount that people use it since they’d have to make it themselves or aquire it through illegal means. No different than buying meth or dope. And people might die from making methanol but oh well shouldn’t have made it.
GREAT, ALL THE SHOULD BE PROHIBITED. MILLIONS OF LIVES WOULD BE SPARED....NOT ON THE US SICK SOCIETY, THE ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD TRYING TO MAKE DRUGS FREE SO THEY CAN PROFIT ON YOUTH ADDICTION
I was locked up twice for it. Once in 03 and then in 04. Well should say arrested cuz only spent day in jail and then had to pay fine and drug class but now? I can legally walk into a dispensary and buy a OZ
They don't, once they make it recreational and medicinal they'll make it so that they don't test at jobs for it. They already can't bust you for that in California. In California you can smoke weed and still work you just can't smoke weed and go to work.
Wait wait.. You can overdose on marijuana though. It's been proven that you can overdose if you smoke 2 pounds. 😂 Problem is.. is that way before that happens you will probably fall asleep face first in the fridge after eating a stick of butter and a whole jar of manaise 😂
Are you 10,000 years old ? To know this you'd have to be. Weed has been the cause of a million deaths... saying... if weed wasn't involved they'd still be alive
@@SolidBasedeven a quick Google search shows archeologists have found multiple pipes that are 2-3 thousand years old that were proposed to be used for cannabis.
For real, im smoking weed right now in Idaho, breaking multiple laws, but they can hardly enforce it, im a well respected member of my community, it should be legalized to avoid any potential nonsense.
@bosmith1820 its not just the g.o.p it is mostly conservative states that are holding out like texas,Wyoming,Nebraska, but its also states like geroiga where its medically legal its not gonna be federally legal till all 50 states can agree on the regulations and then the feds also have to decide how heavily it needs to be regulated and they either have to make a new task force to deal with it ir make it a part of the A.T.F and call it A.T.F.M
I wonder if they plan to stop calling it a gateway drug ? I always found the gateway drug term to being misplaced, my first experience with an altered state was with alcohol, and saying that people that sold weed were trying to get me on harder drugs is unfounded and nothing more than a presumption.
It's because when it was illegal you had to deal with certain types. But it is also a gateway, because it seems so harmless. But then you get interested in other things. Not everyone, but a lot lot more than you'd think. There is propaganda on both sides, and you're fully believing in a full blown propaganda wing of the legalize groups. Propaganda is B's no matter if you agree with the side or not.
Anything can be a gateway if you have issues and want to run. Food, alcohol, cigarettes, literally anything.. W33d being called a gateway drug has always made me mad.
I’m just tired of the stigma surrounding it. Some people are so judgemental towards cannabis users and it’s mind boggling. Why would you care about someone else’s medicine??
weed should be legal, but, with your logic, why would you ever care if you knew a friend, family member, or literally anyone you come into contact with is using cocaine, or chvhtting thsmhvles, etc?
this allows pharmaceutical companies to profit off the industry without decriminalizing the use of it for individuals. people will still see jail time for possession of a plant
In 1971 I was six years old and able to purchase cigarettes for my parents and when I was just a teenager we had a cigarette smoking area for the students, I was born in 66
Born in 71 and I remember there was an outdoor smoking section at my high school in 85/86. Was the back door hallway where shop class room was off of, and sometimes a teacher would come out and bum one off us.
This is great news.Cannabis helped me stop cigarettes. Also cannabis helped me with opioid addiction.Cannabis have helped me mentally with disabling depression. Why did this take so long for a natural substance that clearly has medical benefits?.
I’m in the same boat. I had two spine fusions and bilateral hip replacements all from deployment injuries. I was on opioids from 2006 to 2013 every day of my life during that time period cannabis got me down to hardly any medications
YET 200 COUNTRIES LABEL AS A DRUG ARE WRONG, THE ONLY ONE CORRECT IS HOLLYWOOD LAND, MAKING A DRUG FREE TO PROFIT OVER TEENS ADDICTION. WHAT A SICK SOCIETY!!!
This reclassification is a big big loss for the cannabis community. It is being placed as schedule 3 specifically so only big corporations will be able to benefit from it. It shouldn't be on any schedule. This is a sad day.
not really dispensaries will be able to use a more fair tax code currently there using 280E which doesnt let them deduct operating costs and expenses. so there paying about 70% in federal taxes with rescheduling they will probably pay 20-30%
Looks like the grip of big tobacco, big alcohol, big pharma and the prison industry still have a grip on our government. Who thought corporate donations to politicians was good idea?
The government preventing marijuana because it’s addictive, what a joke. Smoking, alcohol, pills & even shopping can be addictive. It’s certain people who have addictive personalities who can’t control themselves & most likely need help.
No - decimalize it and government mind their own damn business. No need for them to force 'authority' on use just b/c they see tax dollars. Problem right there people think this level of government b/s needs to keep going.
Finally! It's only taking decades. This plant is not a dangerous drug. It is here to help us achieve enlightenment. Along with many other plants that are available to us.
Englightment just like devil want you think keep in getting high letting evil spirits enter you devil knows doing everyone still falling for his plan didn't need changes since old plan still work
@@kiayatate3831I would have liked your comment because you spoke a lot of truth. However, you didn't use any punctuation at all, and that is pretty much unacceptable. It makes it very difficult to read and understand. You can do better.
Should have never been illegal to begin with when you consider the fact its much less harmdul in all categories compared to a massive list of things that are very harmful.... Its always been about money 💰 nothing else... Everything that has been said about it has always been a blanton lie....
some states (like mine!) already have state regulated cannabis access. you place an order online and then you go to the dispensary. no fuss, no muss, go home and enjoy your evening. all Americans deserve this
I've never heard anyone OD from Marijuana or committing crimes due to being high off of pot. Marijuana users are some of the kindest people I've ever met
Canada has had zero recorded issues caused directly by cannabis legalization. There is a weed store at every other strip mall. No increased impaired driving statistics.
It should be reclassified as a schedule zero just like alcohol is because alcohol. I would argue as much worse than marijuana and it takes one to no one. I am a recovered addict.
It should be legalized and decriminalized. It should not be a problem at my workplace or while I’m driving unless I’m visibly not able to function and can be harmful to others or myself. GROW UP AMERICA!
I hope that this will mean that folks who have state medical cards will be able to relax about traveling to other states with medical cannabis (flower, gummies, tinctures, whatever) in their bag, just the same as with other schedule 3 medications. It's a real drag to find something that works, legally, doctor "prescribed" in one's own state, and then have to sweat about getting your meds through TSA at the airport, or not getting searched, harassed, jailed and/or fined by local law enforcement while driving through another state. So stupid.
No laws that restrict freedom for individuals are ever passed in the interests of public safety. The powers that be always paint laws this way, but you can bet the farm, these laws are enforced to make $. Until marijuana is more valuable legal, than illegal, nothing will change.
Once this is passed, we will see how little effect this actually has to non smokers and not ruining peoples lives with arrests and convictions. We will wonder why it took so long to get to this point.
How about you fix the housing market or the wage gap or inflation things that actually help the economy and the citizens you politicians claim to be fighting for but thats just my opinion
How will this affect drug testing is what I want to know. They don’t test for codeine or ketamine and if marijuana is in the same class should be eliminated from a drug screen
In Washington State this law was recently enacted. “Effective January 1, 2024, pre-employment drug testing for cannabis is prohibited by ESSB 5123, except for certain circumstances, including applicants for positions in law enforcement and fire departments and for safety sensitive positions for which impairment while working presents a substantial risk of death.”
LET'S START HERE..... Next time somebody gets busted for cannabis and has to appear in court for criminal charges....ask the judge... Judge what am I charged with? Possession of marijuana and cultivation of marijuana and transport. The innocent victim asks politely....Judge if marijuana was legal would I be facing charges? The judge probably replies, no because it would be recreationally legal. Innocent victim asks.....judge does that mean that you're interfering with commerce ? Isn't that racketeering us code 1951? Judge is it your job to interfere with the commerce of cannabis in your state? Let the court records show that the judge said yes it is his job to interfere with cannabis commerce. Number one he just confessed to racketeering and besides that then I can't get a fair trial in the first place. Because he's already biased against cannabis when he is supposed to be impartial. So judge case dismissed?
