Justice: The 2000s Tween Girl Powerhouse 

I hate how tweens are being forced to grow up. I hate it. Like my friends 11 yo sister wears acrylic nails and online shops every day. And wears a full face of makeup ever day. I mean express yourself but I feel like this is not because of self expression

Justice even catered to “tomboys” like poor little me. I remember buying an ugly neon shirt that was about being a gamer girl when I was in the fifth grade. Lowkey the greatest highlight in my life

it makes me sad that the tween demographic is fading and young girls are trying to grow up too fast. i feel like everyone should experience those awkward years and enjoy being a kid because being an adult is not all that it’s cracked up to be. the innocence and bliss of being a tween was so fun and justice was my favorite place to be

Oh god. I had a whole god complex about not shopping at Justice. I’m not entirely sure why. I mean, the mean girls who bullied people wore Justice and I think it just permanently altered how I felt about it.

I was a justice model in 2012/2013. I’m the blonde girl on the cover at 7:37! I LOVED working for them. The most fun shoots ever. They really did make everything up so much - They did our hair, makeup, and nails EVERY SINGLE DAY. It was wild. The marketing team always made fun of the clothes. It was a fun time. I still talk to several of the other models today!

My daughter is 7 and I still try and find vintage Justice clothes for her to wear. She is all about neon and sparkles. It heals my inner child a bit too because I was never able to afford Justice clothes

As young boy growing up with an older sister, I would be imprisoned in these stores for hours while my sister and mom shopped there. Suffice to say, Whenever I think of the 2000’s mall aesthetic, I always remember this place.

As somebody who used to wear, and then work for Justice: it was a total blindside. Out of nowhere people kept asking us when we would be gone, and we didn't know. I got really upset that the plus sizes that were included were great, and yet they eventually cut back on their plus sizes. So many little girls would literally cry because they wouldn't be bullied for having to wear adult clothes, and then they would cry when we had something that was cute and actually fit them. (I also wore the plus size justice things, and still have pieces I wear regularly that are super cute.) It was super rewarding working there and helping girls feel their best. The clothes overtime became less maximalist. We eventually started running out of sizes quickly. We stopped being able to provide the top tier customer service due to everything going south. During summer of 2020, while nobody was able to be there, we would pack orders for hours on end, and would pump out like 400-500 a day. The worst part of it was loosing a family I had gained from working there. We still have the work group chat that we talk to each other in. We still keep in touch, and still see each other from time to time. I miss you Justice. 😪

I remember there was a clothing collection called “Pretty in Punk” that I was OBSESSED WITH. I begged my mom for every set (only got one set) and I still have the arm warmers to this day. In hindsight this should’ve been a sign to my mom because I’m now a raging metalhead lol

My sister is 12 and is definitely awkward 😂 but instead of clothes like Justice, she gets her fashion inspo from her favorite kpop girl groups and soft, pastel, aesthetics. She dresses like a Pinterest girl while I dressed like I was a part of the shake it up cast when I was her age 😂 I was always decked out in Justice!

Man, the nostalgia hit me… It’s good to hear about a business that’s still thriving and not completely reduced to garbage. Made me realize how much Claire’s is a Justice wannabe. I know the demographic is for preteen girls, but I’m a senior in high school currently using a Justice backpack and loving it.

As a German I didn't know about Justice, but the designs still made me super nostalgic! The food jokes and big flower designs and peace signs. We had all of those too.

When I was in 4th grade I finally convinced my mom to let me get some underwear from justice instead of the multipacks she usually bought me from target. I remember wearing my emoji boyshorts to school and feeling so secretly ✨swaggy✨ it was a phenomenal experience lmao I was in grade school in the early to mid 2010s and the coolest clothes always had some combination of glitter, emojis, cupcakes, avocados, sunglasses, llamas, unicorns, rainbows, mustaches, etc. Now that I think about it a little more, why tf were so many little girls so obsessed with mustaches??? My favorite shirt had a raccoon with a pink mustache on it, and for my 9th birthday I got a giant mustache jewelry making kit 😭

I had my birthday party at Justice in 5th grade (2009). it was a staple of my childhood. whenever we went to the mall I BEGGED my mom to go shopping at Justice... she even set up birthday rewards for a made up "sister" we had named Alice so that she could get money off every season. that's how often we shopped there. unfortunately justice in my mall is now an FYE.

i loved justice! i was chubby growing up so sometimes their clothes didn't fit me. whenever they did, i would wear them immediately after my mom washed my clothes every week. i had two justice messenger bags for school and i used them until they completely fell apart. thanks for the nostalgia

there weren't any Justice stores in Poland, but my immigrant grandma used to send me boxes full of Justice clothes and accessories every few months. To say I loved the brand would be an understatement, and the exclusivity of it made me love and appreciate all the clothes even more. Sad to see these stores aren't exactly what they used to be anymore. Anyways, I imagine a lot of scene teens also used to shop there, I can see this fashion finding a lot of use in scene looks.

I got bullied for wearing Gymboree clothes, people always asked why I was wearing pajamas and why I dressed like a baby. My mom eventually started buying me clothes from Justice when I was in middle school and then I got bullied for wearing things that were “too neon.” School sucked :/

yesss, i couldn’t really afford justice much as a kid. i think i had 2-3 shirts. all the popular girls wore it, like decked out in justice apparel. i was green with envy honestly! they always had a 40% off sale that still seemed too pricy. they had a class action lawsuit brought on because of fake sales! they’ve been humbled lol

I remember when the Ever After High dolls were exclusively sold at Justice. I loved looking at those and the Monster High dolls! ...And I bought some of the clothes (like the pretzel shirt at 4:00!), but I was mostly there for the dollies! ;)

definitely hit hard when you talked about the fading tween culture of the early 2000s-2010s, i for one definitely miss it! i remember as a kid being super excited to enter that tween stage, being inspired by the media that i had been consuming such as disney channel original movies and the like, but my actual entrance into "tween" age was RIGHT at the time that the culture was fading, and i saw the people around me trying to follow trends of older teens and adults on social media. i never had social media as a kid so i didnt even know where the influence came from, only that i was the outlier who still acted and dressed very childish while everyone else tried to be as grownup as possible it makes me very happy that trends like y2k and kidcore, both of which im very fond of (particularly the latter), as well as other alternative fashion that tries to play into the early 2000's vibe is popping up again! it gives me a huge sense of nostalgia, and a bit of a sense of belonging as a kid who never truly grew up in the first place on another note, i just binged this entire channel in a day and i am completely hooked, keep up the cool nostalgic content and analyses, theyre so interesting!!!!

My sister and I were the same age and even wore the same size for a while so we literally ONLY wore matching bff sets from Justice. Getting the same designs but with our own color scheme. I believe she was purple and I was blue or she was peace sign and I was zebra print.

I remember the popular girlies in 6th grade wanting me to join their friend group bc I got most of my clothes from Justice. Safe to say we stopped talking once that trend fell out lmao

Justice still has an effect on aesthetics I enjoy as a whole 19 year old.. no wonder I like idol anime, obnoxious glitter, and RGB lighting. I couldn't get it often due to the prices, but you bet I wore what I did get there constantly. Honestly, if they made clothes in adult sizes, since I'm not outgrowing things and find more expensive clothes justifiable, I'd be 100% down to get some shirts since they'd work well when toned down somewhat with something more neutral stylistically, like a denim jacket. They make great pops of color to otherwise more boring outfits, especially the ones that are more just neon patterns.

I wanted to be a justice girl so bad but my parents didn’t have the money, so one time my mom brought me to the mall and I was allowed to pick out a few things from the clearance rack for back to school. I got a neon blue cami, a green peace sign one, a neon green sparkly ruffly shirt, a neon blue skort, and rhinestone cargo pants. I was absolutely over the moon and wore those outfits constantly

Your videos have opened my eyes to a completely different world of nostalgia. Most nostalgia I recognize is related to boys and video games. I could never appreciate the feminine side of things until I found your channel.

I was obsessed with Justice and a majority of my closet from 3rd-5th grade was full of bright colored corny shirts. I also played softball in elementary school so my mom had gotten a bunch of those athletic shirts with SOFTBALL in bold print on the front and purple tie dye being my favorite, as well as a horse riding one with matching leggings when I rode horses for a couple years. The chokehold this store had on me, it was like TikTok but before it was created, I could go into that store and spend hours looking at the crappy things they sold at the checkout or the walls of plushies. Crazy to think how different I am over the time span of 3 years and how 13 year olds today would probably laugh at how 13 year old me dressed.

Justice was my ENTIRE childhood! I still have a backpack-purse from them.

I specifically remember those “checklist” and “flowchart” type shirts that often centred around pizza or donuts or birthdays. I had a pink flowchart shirt about eating pizza. On a more unrelated note, I also remember being very aware and self-conscious about my body image at Justice. I don’t think it caused it or anything (maybe it did idk) but that’s kind of like a core memory for me lmao

I was a Limited Too kid like CRAZY. Actually, I eventually was too chunky to fit into Limited Too clothes but I bought a ton of accessories and also this KILLER series of books that were a core memory of my childhood.

when I was younger and obsessed with being hyperfeminine for whatever reason, justice was to my kid self as what hot topic is to my teen self, as the store I always hit up first in the mall. (god, my obsession with being like a popular girl back then made my fashion style horrendous) anyways now I know that hot topic sort of has a reputation for having sold out and being fake alt or whatever but I just wanna buy band tees man :p

Justice was for popular trendy girls and kids that wanted to look like the scene kids they saw online. I remember the one i went too had a mini runway outside the change rooms and i would give my mom my little emo fashion shows.

Then there's me, outwardly vehemently anti-girly at the age of 20 walking into my first Justice in combat boots and camo to get my hands on Ever After High dolls when they were first released there as an exclusive (it's okay guys i'm recovered, i can admit i like pink now)

I was so obsessed with Justice solely because I had no idea what my style was and the “cool girls” at school wore it (despite the clothes, I was not one lol) A lot of the photos of the campaigns and mannequins unearthed memories of me and I realized how many of those graphic tees I had-the Justice graphic tee wearer to shitposter pipeline is real.

dude i got bullied so much by my classmates and their moms at my middle school for wearing Justice. i really liked how colorful their clothes were and i didn’t understand why i was getting targeted for wearing them. i also had a mail catalogue subscription to justice lol! honestly although i got bullied i STILL wore my justice clothes because i would take my time putting my outfits together to try and get through each school day.

Speaking as a younger brother who got dragged to Justice by my sister here- man does this place make me nostalgic. Back when the Webkinz craze was huge, our mom used to let us each pick out plush to take home, as well as TONS of candy. Kids today have no idea what they're missing. I may have not been the target demographic, but this place absolutely ruled.

Oh /man/ was I living that “Justice-core” life. My entire wardrobe was from there, plus my socks, shoes, backpack, duffel bag, lunchbox, nail polish, hair accessories, jewelry, journals, my first training bras and sports bras, a Snuggie… and, of course, the moon chair (I had the white one with blue, purple, and pink polka dots). Everything I touched ended up with glitter on it. Justice was my LIFE until I hit my fandom phase in middle school, and even then I still wore my less flashy Justice clothes and jewelry until I grew out of them or they fell apart. I remember my favorite necklace was this purple cotton choker with a magnet on it where you could switch out different bottle cap pendants with little graphics or sayings on them. I felt like the coolest kid on the planet in that thing.

Even though I was a tomboy; I loved the HECK out of Justice products. I didn't get the clothes, but I did have some of the accessories, rip the accessories to my little niece. She also liked them and I grew out of them 😭

I'm too old to have ever shopped at Justice. In 2009, I was 24 years old. Lol However, having said that, I can still relate when she talks about finding out that Justice is being sold through Walmart. A couple of years ago, a Claire's opened up in one of my local Walmarts. I couldn't believe it. I never went in because Claire's was to us '90's tweens what she's describing Justice was to the late 2,000's tweens. It was an experience. Claire's was always located in a mall. And going there you were just overwhelmed with all the cool, trendy, cutesy stuff. It was a treat to go and buy some cool things, usually some jewelry or lip gloss, etc. The whole ambience was a vibe unto itself. I can't imagine it ever having even close to the same effect being located in the front of Walmart, alongside nail salons and hair salons and a fast food place. Maybe it was one of those situations where you just had to be there and be the right age for it to cast it's spell on you. But every girl growing up in the '90's loved Claire's. It was just a given. Lol

I loved going to Justice when I was little! Unfortunately, the mall closed back in 2019, but I still have memories of it!

I remember being 5 and getting a hand-me-down Justice T-Shirt from one of my 2nd cousins. it was a hunter green color and it said "camping is 'smore fun with friends!" And it had a picture of marshmallows sitting around a camp fire and tent scene. Literally loved that shirt, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I remember planning to wear it when I went horse back riding on a trip to Gatlinburg TN with my cousin. I might go dig through my old clothes and see if I can find that shirt. I wonder if it would seem as cool to me now as it did then.

I couldn't afford Justice, mainly wore children's place clothes. Even the stuff I wore as dupes for my old school's expensive uniform were from there. But I loved the knickknacks and dolls that were in Justice. And I thought those food pun shirts were the best. I had this food pun shirt that had bananas on it and said "wanna hear a potassium joke?" "K" I think I only got it because I saw something like it at justice once. That was my favorite shirt for years.

Then my rich cousin came to visit from out of state (we were maybe 8 and 9) and her parents gave her an allowance (which was I believe $200). When I was younger, sometimes around the age of 8-11 years old, ALL of the girls started wearing justice styled brands and accessories. I remember being so jealous of this one girl who had a pink backpack her her first initial on it (We both had the same letter, which was K) and I had constantly asked my mom for that bag. I eventually got it, and used it for like a year before moving on to my anime "phase" (It wasn't really a phase cause I still love anime, but back then I would flaunt how much I loved anime and thought I was "quirky") I swear, it was Justice and Claires that I was always so interested in around that time, but I didn't really wear the clothes, it was always just the accessories. I hated wearing pink clothes at the time, but I absolutely loved the bags and jewelry they had 😅😂🥰

My favorite shirt to wear when I was 12 was my simple teal yet glittery justice shirt…. and justice yoga pants with pink lace trim….. my gosh they were comfortable. but I only got them from clearance stores, my family was too poor for justice back then and i never actually bought anything from the justice store itself

I did and still do hate everything girly, so it was literally my MOM with the justice obsession trying to drag me in there to look at the “cute sparkly POOP” (I added that last part), and I was literally struggling against her trying to run back to the boys department in Target. Side note: we never actually bought anything there because I stood in a corner with my eyes closed screaming “the hot pink glitter is blinding me!” Every time we went. My mom just gushed over all the clothes and then we went to Target to get stuff I’d actually wear.

As someone who had a crush on a boy named Justice throughout all of elementary school, this store became a teasing point/inside joke with my friends. If anyone overheard, I'd say I was talking about the store. That being said, hearing the name spoken out loud so many times now is really bringing me back to that era 😂

justice is such a bitter sweet memory to me. i wanted so much to be a justice girl but i was too big for a lot of the stuff or my parents hated the price tag. i remember getting a webkinz from there once and a backpack w/ a keychain of that monkey, they were like gold to me. I also relate to the bullies being the ones who wore it, so it’s all jumbled lol . i def tried to replicate the look, it was just peace signs shirts and zebra print i could find at walmart.

I had such a weird god complex about not going into justice as I was a hot topic kid at the time. I never really went in there except sometimes with my best friend who was super girly or with my mom since they were the only store that sold camis and fashionable underwear in my size. I got my first bra from there and it had that monkey mascot on it 😂😂. It was so uncomfortable I hated it but I thought I was SO cool for wearing a bra. Over the years I occasionally picked up some bff accessories from there with my bff. I’m sure I still have all the bracelets somewhere. I find stuff from the original justice in thrift stores often and will buy them if they’re likely to fit me since finding leggings and pants that fit is a challenge these days. I also got my dance wear from justice back in the day but was so embarrassed to have anyone see me in the store. Oh, the memories.

I’m 22 now and I’m from Russia. Even we had this shop and it brings me the best memories from my 12-13’s) I had a pair of cool rainbow sneakers, pyjama set and a very nice hat from Justice. They are still in my heart. Oh and I had a rainbow shoper with peace sing on it that I used to carry my books to my first English classes.
