You could have said that about Matt Stafford when he played with Detroit in the eyes of Los Angeles Rams. But they took their shot with him and then he went 4-0 in the playoffs when he was winless in the playoffs prior and he ended up winning the super bowl in 2021. Sorry to break it to ya, but its who is in denial. Its not about who's gonna be better, if fields and williams both turn out to be stars, its a bad decision for the gm to justin fields, the beauty of draft rookies, is you have a longer window to not pay them, justin fields is gonna cost you more sooner. Thats why this is really about, becuz there is no best case scenario with justin fields. Same reason kirk got shown the door from the vikings. 4 years is a long time to be stuck on an aging qb, when you can just draft one for cheap. If they don't pan out you are in the same scenario as keeping cousins after 4 years, except it cost you 180 million to do it, its just bad gming.

Fields, while disappointing us by not turning into an instant Lamar or Josh, has showed enough in 2023 to prove that he can be developed into a fine QB. Justin Fields is a bust.

I am not entirely sold on Fields, but he is way better than Zach Wilson. He also hasn't played with a decent team around him. I think the Wilson is done, but the jury is still out on Fields. I really think the Steelers would be smart to still make that trade and let him learn from a coaching staff willing to put in the effort to develop him AND also (hopefully) pick some things up from Russell Wilson as well. I think that would be the best situation for him, as well as the Steelers because, after this season, Pittsburgh has no starting QB and this might be the only way they can get one because they rarely pick close enough to the top of the draft to pick a decent one.

You don’t need advanced metrics to see that he’s a bottom tier passer. He averages 200y passing over his career. He has one 300+y passing game in his 3 year career. He’s one of the most sacked QBs in the league.

But he played for the Bears ... one of the worst coached teams (and worst rosters) in the NFL. Thankfully, excuses don’t matter to the rest of the league. His value is very apparent at this point. People were thinking with their hearts, not their brains when it came to Fields. He’s just not a good passer.

Well Caleb has more fumbles than Fields does in the last 3 years, except Caleb plays against CFB defenses and Justin is playing against NFL defenses. You think Justin holds onto the ball to long? Well, again, Caleb is one of the worst in CFB when it comes to holding onto the ball instead of throwing it. Not to mention he's shorter and slower than Fields is. It's almost like people have forgotten that Fields was a pocket passer in college, and a really good one too, who never ran for more than 400 yards in a season in college. He had 67 passing TDs to 9 INTs in 2 seasons at Ohio State. A completion percentage of 68%. Again, Fields and Caleb are literally the same person... Just one is bigger and more athletic.
