That conversation about the tires and the chemicals that Goodyear can't use anymore was actually really interesting. Never knew any of that

@@jimm5754 Wasn’t really about NASCAR it’s more about the chemicals in tires. When people started showing signs of illnesses related to these chemicals change came. There’s news on recycled tires used in sports, signs of illness is showing up there. Dale Jr. has more of an insight on how much rubber a driver or pit crew would be exposed to than me. I was exposed to these chemicals in a different way. Very fortunate to even be living today. More studies would have to be done, but it’s very possible I was overexposed at a young age.

Haha that’s true but I still think both tracks suck as a “pre-season race” they tried a superspeedway, they tried a super short track, how about something in the middle idk. Try Dover, Fontana (RIP), Charlotte, Homestead, or even the Indy Oval. Tracks that produce good racing is my point

I have been waiting for NASCAR to go back to the Montreal Road Course for a long time. When the Xfinity Series used to run there it was always one of my favorite races to watch due to the numerous slow turns in the middle of the course, that made for excellent passing opportunities. Plus, it has some of the best visuals for TV of any Road Course in North America. Lastly, the bleacher sections that surround those passing areas are great areas to hear the roar of the fans when one car overtakes another - like in roman coliseums when fighters struck their opponent. It’s a great race, let’s hope it is scheduled for a historically dry weather weekend.

Translation, essentially what Justin is saying is that today's racing is a season long IROC race... The cars are identical, the entire field is qualifying in a window of .750 of a second from first to last... This is what has made this sport boring... Leading into what Junior was saying about no one is watching/caring about qualifying... It was never like that with the older cars... Friday qualifying was an integral part of the race weekend's activities... Whether you were at the track, or watching it at home... They have decimated the sport, with the decisions being made, and the direction they're pushing it in, and the groups that they cater to... They have pushed away many of their hardcore fans, that made up the majority of their fanbase... Now they're basically left with a fanbase, that for the most part are a bunch of NASCAR "Swifties", that probably wouldn't know the difference between a tie rod and a track bar...

When it comes to the schedule for races, I wish NASCAR would keep the "CROWN JEWEL" races in their place and then gather the names of all the tracks from the past and present and hold a televised lottery every AUGUST OR SEPTEMBER to get the tracks that will be raced in the following season. It would be a great spectacle and the fans could witness the near future of racing in real time. It would also insure that no track that is actually worthy of holding a NASCAR race is left behind and end up like other great race tracks much like ROCKINGHAM. Sucks to see a legendary facility going to waste
@ZVPieGuy
@ZVPieGuy 11 месяцев назад
That's an incredible fantasy concept, but unfortunately there are far too many factors to make that feasible. Weather, other races at those tracks, travel time (keeping the west coast swing together), sponsors, teams needing time to prep (not having the same type of track on back to back weeks).
@ZVPieGuy
@ZVPieGuy 11 месяцев назад
They could possibly do a more limited version of that, though. There are very few night races currently, so they could do a lottery of every track with lights to select a handful of night races to add. Or they could select the playoff track but use a lottery to decide what order they will be in.

At this point, I'd rather watch them drive Xfinity cars. Sophisticated is not a term that should describe a beating/banging race car. More downforce and less horsepower is making them nothing special. Just another "sophisticated" series.
@budracing68
@budracing68 11 месяцев назад
Like the gen 6? Which was so spread out with 900hp that they chopped it down to 550 and put a barn door spoiler on it? And forget beating and banging, one touch of the tire with those bodies and it was flat, which is exactly what happened to Josh Berry at Bristol, and Xfinity has a composite style body. Let the dinosaur straight axel cars stay in the lower series.

@@busterbarlow9094 yes and the COT was so much better than the next gen..... which shows how terrible the next gen is. The Next Gen favors driving deep into the corner. Everyone is so close on speed on exit it's stupid. The whole concept of Cup racing was drivers having to wheel it on throttle through the exit of the corner to try and get a run on the car in front. Now they have so much grip and so little horsepower that they just downshift and then smash the gas on exit. It's so dumb to watch the best drivers drive these tanks that take less talent than the xfinity cars and are sometimes even slower than the trucks in qual.
