I have a pair of the ones a shade lighter than those bought in the early 90s' still going strong. In the early 90's they were the boots Missouri State Troopers wore with their uniforms. Agree 100% on the hard leather insole. Fits like a glove.

Ropers we’re everywhere in the 80’s. We wore them all the time in Texas. Had them in many different colors. Even had a couple pair that were “tall top ropers”. Those were standard cowboy boot height. My favorite pair of Ropers I owned were elephant skin. I’ll bet I had those resoled at least 3 times. They were tough boots. Super comfortable. Wish Justin still made them in Texas like they used to.

Man, I wish I had kept my old Justin Ropers and Lacers from the 90's! You are spot on with the review. The "new" Justin Ropers are not even worth buying in my mind. The used ones in all leather are the way to go.

Hay Jeremiah! Billy t in Alabamy here! I have a pair of Justin Ropers I bought about 10 years ago. These look alot like the pair you reviewed. Mine have that dark brown marbling color. Very comfortable! Have the inside leather. For me, roper is the best way to go. I think its the easiest transition from street shoes or athletic shoes. If you are east of the Mississippi, the Roper seems to be cool, versus the traditional higher heels, probably not. Funny thing, I wore my square toed Tecovas Jackson three or four times delivering pizzas, nobody said a word. The Jacksons have a more heel that looks more like a Roper but is a little higher and a higher vamp. I don't even know what they thought? I just wore 'em to protect me from fire ants, pit vipers, and other 2 and 4-legged ankle-biters! I'm going to try my Ropers at work and see what those ankle-biters think about that! Billy T. JC, these boots were created for the roping and steer wrestling events in American rodeo. Contestants still wear this exact boot today. Some other contestants wear the square toe, but the round Roper toe with the Roper heel (modified Fowler heel) is so perfect for those events.

Cool classic ropers, even though my favorite style is the same as yours (J toe or snip toe with a cowboy heel), the roper style is a ¨must have¨ for boot lovers; I own 2 pairs myself and the reason I like them so much is because I grew up waching my Dad wearing them, which he still wears nowadays.

Nice!! $10 That's awesome! Love your videos and I remember those Justins from the 80s. They had style, comfort (after breaking in of course), you're very right about that, and to some extent they were pretty durable. Really loved those boots. I have some new ones (3133 Made in Mexico) but the quality is just not as good. I can't help wonder why, I mean why on earth if you have such a popular and loved product do you decide to stop offering the same quality? An interesting fun fact is: I'm pretty sure William Holden is wearing a pair of these in the 1955 movie "Picnic".
@JeremiahCraig
@JeremiahCraig 3 года назад
I've seen some 3133s too and I agree. Not even close on quality. It was done so Justin could save money to make more profit on their boots unfortunately. Lots of classic brands are following this trend nowadays
