Glad to see that many Anglicans are standing for the Bible as the Word of God! I am praying that Africa and the Global South will take an important lead in witness to Christ in the rest of the century in the way the West did in the now too distant past.
I'm not even Anglican, but am following this GAFCON conference with great interest, as a conservative Christian here in Australia. Thanks for your interviews and content.
We can not have flexibility to suit us..this is not a company where we sell a product and change it to suit the customer, IS IT IN YOUR CASE? My understanding of church is to guide us the scriptures,. Yet, now it looks and sounds like we, the people, have the power to say eat we want, who we want it and when we want it. ?????
If any church leader guides their people into apostasy then God will come against them. Welty needs to lead repentance and consecration and separate from those who are intent in going against God,s word.
One of my problems with all this is that the gay issue is being presented as a violation of scripture. The fact is that there are hundreds of Scriptures that no Christians pay any attention to whatever, and which they violate every day of their lives, but the gay issue is the one that ties everybody's knickers in a knot. I don't get it.
My Question is, are you as the church moving forward in the way Jesus thought OR the POLITICALLY CORRECT way people wants. 😢 Sure we need people in teaching authority the teach the scriptures, and if so, there is no difficulty as where and how to go forward. Love people but above all, God, and if in conflict then there are no choice as God comes first. End of story. Not our way but His way.
In most of the African churches, even women who are ordained have a man who is in authority over them, whether that is the bishop, or the rector of the parish where she ministers. But I agree with the overall practice of the Church for 2000 years, that women shouldn't be ordained. However, women have important gifts and ministry in the Church.
@@marmeemarch7080 The scriptural view is that women should not teach men, not whether they have a man in authority over them. GAFCON obviously accepts departures from biblical teaching.
@@Apriluser That might be true, but I have since discovered that there are many ordained women priests who are actually attending GAFCON. Indeed, there are now even three women bishops in churches affiliated to GAFCON.
Funny how no one seems to worry too much about Jesus’ sermons about rich people and poor people. People still buy very nice houses and fancy cars and call themselves Christians when Jesus was pretty clear about the rich not seeing the Kingdom. But people get very concerned about verses around other people’s sexuality and their personal relationships. Even acknowledging that our modern understanding of the human person is much more nuanced these days. But if you want to keep bashing the gays, go right ahead. How many Anglican clergy do you think are gay by the way? I would have thought Gay clergy had served the Anglican Church very well for a very long time.
Good point. I thought St Paul in holy scripture said women should keep their place. One rule for some when it suits, equality for women and let’s modernise the Church, another rule for others to keep the faith pure from the untouchable gays.
