What's up legends! What are your most current thoughts on Louis Rees-Zammit and Justyn Ross heading into training camp? Do you have them both as long shots to make the roster? Let me know!
How does anyone NOT root for Justyn Ross? It’s a story of dedication and perseverance that begins long before most realize. Ross isn’t the most athletically gifted. If RAS is to be believed, he’s near the bottom 25%. Yet he has already succeeded where others have not. The congenital fusion and the decision to undergo a risky procedure on the mere hope of continuing his dream is but another part of the story. How does anyone not root for his success??!! Nothing but support from the great fans in the Chiefs’ Kingdom.
I get a Myles Austen vibe from him. Austen spent most of his rookie contract injured, had one break-out season. Got paid a big pile of money, and had one, maybe two good seasons, before disappearing, again.
Justyn Ross was wide open on all but 2 plays when on the field last year. And only had 2 drops the whole season. They just need to throw him the ball more. So he can show what he can do on the field. He's a beast. Just needs a true fair chance to show it.
Love hearing that everybody looks good, that they are progressing well and are excited/hungry. I always hope for everyone to stay healthy and that they make the coaches' personel decisions feel impossible. Truly root for every person who wears a Chiefs jersey to make it, no matter where their career takes them. LFG
Justyn is capable of big things he just needs the playtime. For example say they started him at WR4, I could see him getting 500 yards and 5 TDs.. Say Rice got suspended the whole season and took his spot starting I could see him being 1000 yard WR with a 75% snap count
J Ross is a 2or3 receiver on this CHIEFS team. They invested and held on to him for a reason! He's that dude. He'll be qb1's favorite target this season 100%😊
I find that very hard to believe when he’s had trouble even getting on the field. Last year was probably his best chance with the way the depth chart was at WR. This year it’s even more stacked and going to be a lot harder to stand out. Just my humble opinion.
@@superbowlchampionchiefs5079 brown and worthy are light in the ass...we need length and he has it. Got derailed by domestic situation...and they still held on to him.
With justyn its going to be nice to finally see him with a clean slate and actually getting a full season {if he makes the roster} but he has experience now hoping he can try extra hard to be a reliable guy
Ross has a lot of promise. Hopefully we’ll see what he can do. As far as Rees-Lightning goes, if he can make the roster and get on the field for a significant number of snaps the. that could be the success story of the year. I’m rooting for him.
Been on the JRoss bandwagon since the beginning, broke my heart last year when he got himself suspended, I hope he can bounce back chiefs actually gotta give this man some opportunities I would think he has full understanding of the playbook by now
I feel that the chiefs have gathered a lot of raw talent in the players they have now and that the fight to get on the roster will bring out the best of the talents
Ross is super talented I'm more concerned about whether the Chiefs will give you a fair shake. They don't seem to like those big body receivers so they tend to avoid them. We'll just have to see this season if he gets any significant time on the field.
Justyn Ross was never as far out of the running as people believed him to be, sure his hype is over but hes still very much in play for that 6th or 7th spot, Id even put him even odds with Toney and Moore. 6'4" and work ethic carries a long way for bottom of the roster spots
There's plenty of position battles to watch this preseason. You got the battle for Sneed's spot, the battle for the 3rd RB, the one for LT, and of course the one for the last few WR spots. Oh and of course you have the ever present battle of the last man on and first man off the roster were you have to impress Toub with you special teams skills and provide enough value to either Spags or Reid to be viable when called upon for the defense or offense. I do fully expect Ross to be in the mix for that WR6-7 again. He's the more unique option in that battle since his play style and skill set are different that the rest of the guy's hes going against for that spot.
Great context as always. Thank you for all of the information. How do you get this training videos from? Are you at practice? I think Justin Ross should make the team. He has to be better than some of the guys there now. Will see.
i think all this competition in the WR room is going to push them ALL to show up and show out, which will be nothing but good for our offence this year.
I’m not rooting for any one guy over the other. I just want the best guys to play and lock up a three peat. Let go Chiefs!!! King Cole thank you for yet another great video!!!!!
Followed Justyn from the day he was drafted by Dabo, he is a rockstar!!! As a freshman at Clemson in 2018, Ross had 46 receptions for 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns.[6] In the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship against Alabama he had six receptions for 153 yards and a touchdown.[7][8] As a sophomore in 2019, Ross finished with 865 receiving yards on 66 receptions with eight touchdowns.[9] Ross missed the entire 2020 season due to a congenital fusion condition of his neck and spine that required surgery. He was granted a medical redshirt after his surgery.[10] As a redshirt junior in 2021, Ross finished with a team high of 524 receiving yards on 47 receptions and three touchdowns in ten games. He injured his foot halfway through the season which required a few surgeries, that carried into his professional career... He will have an awesome year, you this year.
Heck yes we want Ross to come and show out in camp and get some playing time. He could be good and even great if he willing to put in the work. Why would we not want the kid to be a part of the team and grow to even a starter in time. It would just good for him and our Chiefs!! GO CHIEFS!!!
I really hope the Chiefs are able to be patient with Zammit. He's got the athletic traits, he's got the right mentality, he just needs time. Dude gave up what sounded like a future successful rugby career to chase a dream. That's a guy you want in the locker room. He ain't taking nothing for granted. He knows he's behind the curve from the start. That's desire on another level. That's a guy where other young players see him putting in more work than them and they start feeling the pressure the match it like, "damn this dude that may not make the team is doing what?"
I feel like rice took a step during that period that ross was out with legal troubles last year. I think that ross would have taken that same step had it not been for that suspension. With more time and a solid offseason I'm hopeful that he steps up and shows out this year
I'd be more optimistic about LRZ than Ross and Moore, they guy is fast and the position he played in rugby is very similar to wr, you have to have top notch hands to be a winger at an international level, I'm surprised he hasn't had a run in the slot at the very least. He'd also be really good with the new kick off rule as he should be pretty good at kicking and also as defender who has to make a lot of open field tackles, since wingers are sometimes the last line of defense.
Justyn Ross - I am hoping he gets his act together and take this opportunity seriously and makes the team - he is a solid player and can play at this level and be an great asset to the CHIEFS offensive side of the ball Zammit - overrated not sure why there is so much coverage on him he never even played one single down of full contact football - there is a huge difference between flag and tackle football - huge difference between rugby and tackle NFL football - the physical part of the game is intense - CARSON STEELE is the RB we need to speak about making the team - stronger tougher RB - we need that type of strength coming out of the backfield - we need that - that is something we lack - he is a situational back needed when needed and I am sure Andy Reid can create some great situations when CARSON STEELE can make it happen - plus CARSON is a great blocking RB
You were talked about on another content creator on RU-vid but it was good! "Fired from Undisputed: The Rise & Fall of Skip Bayless" 25:37 into that video! Congrats!
Seems like the Chiefs are gathering big bodies to catch the ball along with Worthy and Brown. Reid had a great thing going with 3 TE sets a couple years ago and injuries have not allowed it since then. Now several TEs and WR the size of TEs.
I’m not falling for it again this year, Justyn Ross broke my heart the last two seasons honestly. What’s crazy is he has all the talent to be our #1. Imagine Worthy, Kelce, Rice, Pop, Hollywood, Ross (if he lived up to his hype), LRZ, Jared Wiley (I think he’s going to be Pats next Security blanket when Kelce leaves, dudes crazy athletic). That’s got 20-0 written all over it 🤷♂️
I find it hard to believe Rees Zammit has never played a single snap of football. Even if you played backyard football, you've still played football. It may not be in an organized game, but you've still have played a snap of football. I don't know why, but the statement rubs me wrong. I love your stuff Cole!
Ready for the season building through the draft and killin it were so loaded cut toney and sky get the cap space around 3. 4 mill we have players to sign coming up how bout those chiefs let's go let's freakin go
I'm still on the Justyn Ross train! For sure!! I'd like to see him stay. Maybe Toney gone and Sky gone. Let's see who wins the jobs. Interesting training camp it will be. Stacked at WR. Good competition.
As far as the WR room goes, i think every position after Rice and Worthy is up for grabs. Watson and Mecole had some big plays this year, but they weren't consistent. I think Ross will get as fair as chance as Moore, Toney, Hardman, or Watson.
They better keep ROSS, if one or two of RICE, WORTHY or BROWN go down? There’s not another receiver outside of ROSS, that has the potential to produce #1 or#2 skills.
Kelce Gray and Wiley are locks Pacheco CEH are locks… massive competition for RB3 but I think it’s Carson Steele’s job to lose This leaves us with a choice of Irv Smith as TE4 or LRZ as RB4
I'm gonna say it again, if the Chiefs cut Ross or move him to practice squad, he's gonna shine in another team especially rivalry team or divisional team. Andy Reid need to give him more snap. Don't let history repeat itself like Bono and Gannon. I hope the Chiefs roll with seven receivers again and this should be their core starting lineup. Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, Justyn Ross, Rice, Nikko Remigio and Kadariou Toney. The rest can be on practice squad
I felt like Kelce's game has become more complete, every year. He's been a lot more effective as an in-line blocker than he was earlier in his career. Earlier in his career, they schemed to get him the free release a lot more than they did last year, imho. He also encountered more contact in (and often beyond) the 5 yards, whether he was blocking or not. Anyway, I think that might explain some of his struggles as a receiver, last year. The first 5 years or so of his career, he almost never got targeted if he didn't get the free release, and Mahomes and he missed the connection when he did get targeted. Maybe I'm just seeing things, but that's been my impression. Am I the only one who remembers how often he whiffed on his in-line blocking assignments, earlier? Am I the only one who thinks he's a better blocker and all-around player than he used to be?
Ross hasn't been given a chance I guarantee you if he wasn't suspended for those 6 games he would've been on a Rashee Rice run KT MVS and Skyy couldn't catch the ball I bet you Justyn catching the ball when we needed it
It seems Veach's approach at wr is to not give out a big $ contract but rather to find talented wr's for cheaper 1 yr deals as stop gaps until they develop these younger guys hoping for a diamond in the rough.
If Ross doesn't make the 53-man roster in KC, he's going to crack someone's starting roster. Ross is young, KC keeps Ross, and he blows up this season. Chiefs will have Ross, Rice, and Worthy going into next year's season and beyond. All on Rookie contracts for the next couple of seasons.
If you go into create a player in madden and make a WR you make someone in the vein of Justyn Ross, HWS specimen, good kid by all accounts I think his ceiling is the highest of everyone in the WR room
Could Sheets be turned into a TE? He's so big, I kinda wonder if that's why they brought him in. Put him on the practice squad this year, bulk him up, and create a TE that's basically a WR like Kelce. The Chiefs are clearly planning for a future without Kelce. Wiley is the more obvious replacement, but maybe they brought in Sheets as a dark horse replacement. I mean D2 receivers aren't going to get a ton of looks from the NFL, especially if maybe their size prevents them from fitting the WR mold. However, you got someone like Andy Reid, and maybe he looks at him a little different.
That's about where I am. Too many guys like Moore, Toney, Hardman, Baldwin and others who have been hyped up in the offseason after disappointing previous seasons.
I always had hope for Justyn Ross, but he could never gain the confidence of Coach Reid or Mahomes. If he can't gain their confidence in him, they should just let him go.
