IV had my JVC 8000v sense 99 and I perty much use it every day at half volume or more and I never had any problems with it . I listen to music a lot and watch moves on surround. I actually bought it because my dad has had his jvc sense he was in high school and it still works nothing wrong with it either. I have a fan that turns on when it turns on to keep it cool. That receiver probably been abused like a red head step child with 5 kids LoL. Kids sad to see it with so many problems. Great video and work as always have a great one till the next one 🎶🎵💯🛠️👍✌️

I've seem em before. Didn't like them 40 years ago and I haven't grown any more fond of them over the past 40 years.

I was one of those people who bought the 100 LED's for $2 from Radio Shack!!, half of them would work, but eventually even the ones that did wouldn't last a long time!!, I finally started testing them and ferreted out the bad ones and tossed them in the recycle bin !!

I actually replaced the power switch (Alps SDU3P Power Switch TV-3) on my JVC JRS201 about a month ago. It had been arcing. After getting it all back together and successfully testing, I did a little victory dance. (I did not mess with the tuning string.) Then I discovered an issue with the phono board! I am having trouble deciphering the location of the phono components.

I bought a JRS-201 years ago which was my first new receiver and one channel was out. Problem was something stuck in the speaker relay. I modified the thing a few times and then sold it.

I thought it looked old, its from 1978 according to Hifi engine. Dispite the messy electronics, it still works.

Take the switch apart and fix it.
@12voltvids
@12voltvids Год назад
The problem with the speaker switch will be a worn or broken cog that the lock spring engages. Not something that can be easily repaired. As for the power switch the other side that has been unused will work fine for many years.

In which way does this thing live up to the JVC name? "Japan Victor Company" or "Junk Very Cheap."

Kinda polishing a turd with this one. I liked the earlier series with the pretty blue meters-also with "issues" but WAY nicer than these later models.

Hi Dave, can you just jumper the switch, that way you're not messing with the 'nice layout and 'engineering ' of the JVC receiver!!
@12voltvids
@12voltvids Год назад
If the engineers knew what they were doing they would have paralleled that SP-DT power switch so it would never have failed.

A Computer Engineer I knew claimed that electronic components had 4 grades - Military, Industrial, Domestic and Tandy ( aka Radio Shack ) 😄😄😄
@12voltvids
@12voltvids Год назад
They do have multiple grades especially on camera sensors. That would be rated as: Sony, canon, Nikon, everyone else! It's no wonder why Sony cameras look better then everyone else. They make all the sensors for pretty much everyone and they keep the best ones for their own cameras and they sell the rest off. This is one of the reasons that the lions share of movies and TV shows are shot on Sony cameras these days.

@@12voltvids Not necessarily true. I do agree for consumer DSLR and camcorders, Sony and Canon for video, Nikon for photography. In the cinema space, you are leaving out the real beast ARRI, have you seen their legacy Arri Alexa from 2010, it's absolutely beautiful 1080P blows away modern 4K cameras in consumer space. They didn't focus on dumb stuff like resolution, they focused on sensor, dynamic range and importantly color science. Nowadays in the Cinema space, if you properly color grade etc. you won't tell much if at all a difference between the cinema cameras. The two main dogs in the TV/Movie space are the Arri Alexa and Sony Venice. And they can and are quite often used together.

@@12voltvids Onsemi makes the sensors for ARRI, ARRI does all the color science and image processing from said sensor. Where is your source that claims Sony does it? Yes, Sony makes excellent sensors and makes sensors for a lot of things, including most phones. However they aren't the end all be all, especially in the cinema space.. sensors in these cameras that cost the price of a house will all be state of the art and factors such as color science, dynamic range, lighting matter a lot to the actual image. There is also Panavision and RED that are very good too, but the two kings are ARRI Alexa and Sony Venice, yes the Venice, not their prosumer cameras.
@12voltvids
@12voltvids Год назад
@@victorcoss2600 I was referring to the Venice and my source is redshark newsletter that gets sent to my inbox whether I ask for it or not. There is usually sone interesting reads in there and it is all pro stuff. Dig a little deeper as they said a few years back that Sony made their sensors. They do all the software and colorspace in house including the optics between the silicon and the lens. It was probably 3 or 4 years ago i read that article

you know i have a bunch of vcrs and even a emerson vcr to dvd recorder. i have been digitizing dvd and vhs but i realized i only need one vhs player to do this because my computer plays dvds and i have a capture device. i even bought a 8mm sony camcorder from the thrift store for $20 and it came with case and all the accessories. i guess i just found all this stuff fascinating.all this stuff works. all this digitized stuff is for my wife to watch as i myself just stay on you tube.all this crap is getting out of hand and i need to get rid of it. im 62 and i really dont need this crap.i guess i could just digitize stuff for people but i dont like people. anyway rant over.
