Nice story about jvr, over the years I’ve been told and seen and experienced a lot of these giving back stories in various ways. I will share one about Phil the thrill. I went to school next door to the leafs practice arena. Always around lunchtime a few students would go to the back door of the practice arena where the leafs would walk out to go to their cars. We were all just trying to see one of the players. So one day we are all in our usual spot on the other side of the parking lot, Just looking at the door and Phil comes out and waves all 14 of us to come over closer. He asked us if we wanted to play some road hockey in the parking lot. So we all helped get these old wood sticks they had in the storage room and some nets. We played for about 20 min and then he had to leave. But it was a moment that we all still talk about to this day. Because at that point we where all too poor to afford a jersey let alone go to a game and now here we are playing a game with a guy that we all were going to watch later that night on tv. It’s pretty awesome to say I have a assist on Phil kessel road hockey goal.
