@@leonardwitucke1 That's the best thing you can do. Over the years I was most impacted by real Christians who knew the true Gospel and had a real relationship with Jesus. They would share scriptures they found encouraging, they would share answered prayers and how God saw them through trials. This blows away JWs on the inside because they are taught that Christians are misled and don't have "the Truth", and if they don't have "The Truth" how could their relationship with God be real, how could their joy be real joy, and that God most likely is not answering their prayers - unless of course they are praying to know "Jehovah God", meaning they are ready to be led to Jehovah's people - aka Jehovah's Witnesses. They would NEVER admit they see you that way - never, but they do. It is what they are taught. It is the view the inside culture fosters. Sharing aspects of your Christian life, walk, joy, faith, trials & triumphs without any sense of coming across that you are witnessing to them plants a seed. I can tell you that seed does not go away. It will lay there and the next Christian to do the same plants another seed, and so on. The Holy Spirit now has something to water and shine upon. It will take time, but it is powerful. It will mess with what they are being taught by Watchtower like nothing else. So you are on the right track - keep it up!! God's blessings to you! 🙏 ❤️

@davidcrapnell5378 I I have to be honest with you. I didn't want to speak to her because I was a baby Christian at the time and I didn't know how to defend my faith. I also didn't know much about the bible. I don't know why I decided to speak to her or why I said those verses. I guess it was just a God moment. I take no credit for what happened that day but I saw her years later when I was visiting a church. She gave me a bear hug. I didn't remember her until she reminded me about that day at the gas station

@robindevellen7038 I don't celebrate any holiday except for christmas, Birthdays and weddings. I don't see anything wrong with those. I don't get a christmas tree but we do read the bible, give thanks to God, make tamales and give small gifts to the children to represent the gift that were given the baby Jesus. We know it's not his actual birthday but it is a good opportunity to tell the story of Jesus and what he has done on the cross. We also share what he has done in our lives.

The Holy Spirit knows how to reach those who belong to Christ. He did it for us.

@@bednar1991 THe bible records birthdays and people died. Birthdays are a form of worship for the individual and only God deserves worship through Jesus Christ. Think about how selfish birthdays can become for people.....children look forward to them because they're groomed to believe the day is all about them and they are given presents simply based on winning the sperm lottery. That is not what Christ taught. He taught us to be "self sacrificing". That means putting others first. When people defend the right for others to honor only them because they happened to be conceived on a particular date, they are turning their backs on Christ's teachings. That is why they, Jehovah's witnesses, do not celebrate birthdays. I have not been a JW for a decade now. I still find birthdays repugnant due to how selfish the person who's birthday it is can act. It is not humble to expect others to celebrate your by chance existence if we are all sinners. If you are happy someone is alive....why not buy them a gift at random throughout the year to show them you are appreciative they are in your life? There is more happiness in giving than receiving. There is no happiness in compulsory gift giving. It is merely a charade.

I mean, we could argue about theology like the trinity, but I think describing the LDS church as a "socially insulated community" at least in the same way as JW is disingenuous (except maybe I'm Utah, we'd probably agree there). The LDS church encourages members to be outgoing and active in their community, especially outside of church and church activities. And practices like shunning and disassociating are not official practices of the LDS church (like it is for JW as well as some other Christian churches), and is not condoned by Church policy or leaders. I can see how you could draw a parallel to being directed to a central church website, but in general that does make sense. If you want to learn about a religion, or anything else really, it makes sense to go to the source. If JW's are actually told not to Google their own church, then that's not really comparable to the LDS church. Of course no church is going to encourage you to look up anti material about them, but the LDS church doesn't discourage research, in fact it's usually encouraged. But you said you used to be a member, and idk your exact experiences and circumstances. You could've been raised in Utah, and that would explain a lot. But it seems to me like there might be a confusion of culture vs policy at play here. And sorry for any negative experiences you attribute to the LDS church, I hope those that have wronged you will repent.

@@Azravald I was actually in a less stressful ward and I actually learned more about the faulty foundation of the church after I left. My experience though still was like many who leave. There are certain teachings, practices, traditions and unspoken rules that you catch on to that I never really bought into. It felt like lies being told as truth. But in learning this stuff I reflected on my time there. Yes Mormons put themselves out there but they are quick to call something or someone anti Mormon if they point out something strange in their history/theology and they will tell you you should avoid it. Learning about what the church was hiding (not glancing over) or at least trying keep buried opened my eyes to a lot of things. My change in perspective helped me realize a lot of the failures of their teachings and how they went against what Biblical scripture said. They tell you (not force you) to stay away from anything that goes against Mormon beliefs. I don’t make this argument based on my own experience alone. There are a lot of commonalities all over the US and the rest of the world. So I don’t think LDS and JW are the exact same because theology and publicly they are very different but they fall into the same failures, lies and tricks like Islam, 7 day adventists, gnostic believers and etc. Different names and very different organizations but ultimately when you strip them down to the core of what they are LDS, JW and others are this post sums them up pretty well

As a former witch and occultist I can tell you that they pretty much are, you guys without realizing are celebrating pagan holidays that have been tempered with and so called "christianized". I'll give you my take on this, as an ex occultist on whom used to do witchcraft on people, the only people I've ever witnessed standing through witchcraft were true christians who were set apart from society customs such as what's normalized nowadays. That's why if you told me you were christian it wouldn't pretty much matter to me if you weren't truly set apart, get what I mean? I'll also say that the Bible's word should always go above man's commentary, and i don't think Mike can see the full picture of what's going on if he hasn't been from where the Lord brought me out. To place witchcraft on people successfully the person needs to give a way of opening such as through certain holidays like Christmas. I can go deeper into this and give you sources but if you think about it there is a way bigger reason for why God said that you cannot worship him through pagan customs by "christianizing" them which is what they did.

I'd like your take on Christmas trees. I understand that they were used in pagan holidays as a symbol of fertility and to ward off witches (correct me if I'm wrong) but the manner in which they were used seems far removed from how Christians use it. It's hard for me to imagine that a decorated tree is forever corrupted because it was used in the past to represent different, pagan traditions

My in-laws are Jws and they let their kids watch whatever they want. They are the most hippy type of jws I’ve ever met.

I will always celebrate these Christian holidays as Jesus birth and resurrection. Just because someone else somewhere also celebrated a certain time of year for other things does not make my celebration of Jesus pagan. The JW also refuse to celebrate birthdays because the only birthday in the Bible John the Baptist got his head chopped off. No one is getting their head chopped off at my child’s birthday celebration. I have nothing to do with what pagan rulers did thousands of years ago. If that is the reasoning then there are so many things you’ll have to stop doing. Do you wear jeans? Pagans do. Better stop that. Do you drive a car? Pagans do that. Better stop. Ancient pagans celebrated their anniversary of married. Gasp. No anniversary for you. Why don’t you accept that Christian’s REDEEMED these pagan times of year by celebrating the Christ instead of allowing what pagans used to do to color what Christian’s have done for centuries?

There are two YHWH's - genesis 19:24 as example - that is why Jesus said 'who have seen me, has seen the father' He is the word of God (a word comes out of the mouth of a person), the truth, the way The truth is not a group of men who base their 'follow the slave theory' on one scripture. Then they changed some of their wording in the magazines, Watchtower and Awake, to "encourage Bible study along with Bible based publications such as those published by The Watchtower Bible Tract and Society". Everyone knew that meant resources outside of WT were not to be used.

This is a very worthy criticism. What’s good about these arguments about holidays being pagan is that they allow you reevaluate what things you’re paying homage to. Are you paying homage to fictional characters which promote materialism, greed, and/or irreverence or are you paying homage to the truth about Christ and all the just and hallowed qualities that He represents?

I don't allow any bunny or egg anything in the house for Resurrection Day. It takes the focus off Christ. My kids have never believed in Santa either. Getting some gifts from their parents is still fun and exciting and we remind them that our heavenly father sent us the greatest gift of all.

If it was his normal service, John the Baptist would have been born in the Spring, putting Jesus' birth in the Fall. If it was the latter service, that would place John as a summer baby, making Jesus a Winter baby. There was also a conceit at the time that all true prophets of God would die on the same day they were conceived, again placing Jesus' birth in the Wintertime. Regardless, the entire calendar has been yellowed by the dogpiss of pagan holidays. If Christmas hadn't been two weeks too near to Saturnalia, it would have been two weeks too near to Lupercalia. Easter is Pascha with a Germanic name.

Here's what you lack ... 1 you must pray for God to remove the scales and enlighten them. You must pray for God's Holy Spirit to draw them and you must pray for the Lord to topple any stronghold exalted against the knowledge of God. Specific prayers and possibly decrees made before the throne of God (Luke 18) are required to move /remove the blockage and bring God's will to fruition. But one thing, you may need to fast for them. You can't intellectually argue with them because that's the stronghold ... it on their mind. Ask God to bring it down and fulfill His purpose in their life. God from his throne, through his Holy Spirit and kingdom power must do the work ... and give you the anointing to speak a word that breaks through. God knows the way and timing. Just pray and fast and yield to the Lord. Lift her up to God's throne in prayer. Put it in God's hands.

From the beginning of their organization, the Translators Lied about the meaning of the Text. The JW Bible is based on the 1870 version of the Wescott and Hort Greek Interlinear Bible. I own an 1871 Version and EVERYWHERE the Deity of Christ is mentioned it is the same as all the modern Versions we have today. Even NON-Christian Greek Grammarian's say you cannot Possibly Interpret it the way they do. There was No-one Qualified in their Organization to Translate the Greek Text. They had 1 guy who had 1 yr of Study ,then he dropped out of that class. You have to follow the rules of Greek Grammar and those rules were there BEFORE Christianity Existed. Very Dishonest Organization.

I want to start by telling you that I am disfellowshipped. However, I do not hold any resentment. What I did was wrong. However, I wanted to tell you that this forum ....will never respect what you have to say. Obviously do not be afraid to speak about your beliefs. I also think that what you said and how you said it, were very good. But...there is a time and a place. arguing with people online or trying to refute other's ideas on social media, doesn't work. I have left comments across this entire comment section in a manner that you shouldn't. People hate things that make them feel bad about their own life choices and they hate what they do not understand. Maybe I made things worse, maybe not. But you would do yourself a favor by just staying away from places like this. Honestly.....as I type this, I am reminded of how Jesus handled himself during his ministry campaign. He walked straight into the synagogue and stirred stuff up. So, maybe I am completely wrong, and you should be here. If that is the case, don't be discouraged by people's response. Not true. JW believe that you are dead when you die and are resurrected to go to heaven or hell. They do not believe in eternal torment of hell. Which actually comes from Egyptian mythology of the afterlife. Look it up.

I agree that the New World Translation is not accurate, but the "added to" line is always funny to me. It would be like rejecting the New Testament because it "added to" the Old Testament.

@@Azravald i appreciate your response , I was referring to John 1:1, where John says "the Word was God" however the New world translation says "the Word was a god" . Do you see the big difference there? And if you go down a bit farther in John you will see that "the Word became flesh and dwelt among us" Jesus was God in the flesh. Thanks for your time brother

Rightfully so, where in the Bible does it discuss Halloween? Why should we celebrate such a dark and evil celebration. The Bible says light and darkness don’t share. What does Christ have in common with the devil? As far as Christmas, yes the traditions in which this culture upholds is not biblical. Between Santa, elves, presents and the tree where do you find that in the Bible? If you want to celebrate Jesus’ birth celebrate Sukkot. All this added nonsense is to please the flesh and world. Easter is not observed accurately nor at the correct time of year. If you want to celebrate His resurrection, observe Passover. People ought to stop trying to serve God in a way that is displeasing to Him. To love Him is to keep His commands - how can you use such a secular and carnal observation for Him? I’ve seen younger JWs, but you’re right there aren’t many. It seems like they’re getting more recruits from older generations. I think it has to do with JW’s apocalyptic tone
