@@Littlekoji-df1cf Finland is my favourite this year, good luck!! Sadly I cant vote in the 1st semi final from Spain, but I will be voting for Finland in the final for sure :)
Those wooden crates are called Eurolava here in Finland, but lava also means a stage. Therefore, Käärijä is performing on Euro stage! It is word play that Finns understand. (They can also represent the boxing ring from the music video, and feeling trapped until the character feels more relaxed and starts dancing).
You may want to understand the story he's singing: this is all about a bloke who has hard time at work during the week (boxing ring made out of cargo pallets) and is obsessed in getting to a club to party when the weekend comes. With the help of a few pina coladas, he is able to relax and let his true self free. This results in a metamorphosis (human centipede / caterpillar) and he is able to be his true self. So... this is a song about the present day hard work life that is hard and requires many of us to show a different face at work and hide our secrets. There was one reviewer who interpreted the chachacha-dancers as his inner demons that he is holding in the reins... trying to escape from him until he lets them loose. So even though this is a definite party anthem, it is not that silly song under its' super-entertaining surface. Cudos to Käärijä for his piece and performance. Cannot wait to see how the roof gets blown off in Liverpool when the crowd starts to chant cha-cha-cha in unison. It will be an absolute chaos!
I couldn't agree more! Usually, I never catch any of the Eurovision songs before the final, but for some reason this came across my radar super-early and I'm OBSESSED! I don't even want to watch any of the other offerings ... I would be totally happy if this year's Eurovision consisted of Käärijä doing Cha Cha Cha 27 time over 😂
It's just such a fun song, every one who listens to it starts smiling and bopping along. And Käärijä is quite a character, a performer and goofball, that this has to do well on sheer entertainment value.
It's not a centipede, it's a caterpillar, and when he's lifted up by the dancers with his arms spread out, that's his final transformation into a carefree dancepop butterfly
I really love the nuance in "enkä pelkääkään tätä maailmaa" and not just "enkä pelkää tätä maailmaa". He overcomes the fear, and the choices of expression in lyrics really work in my opinion. I can feel that relief and joy in that moment.
I'm Swedish and i would honestly say that i wouldn't be that dissapointed if Finland won the Eurovision 👏 of course i'm hoping for Loreen and i genuinly think she is atleast top 3. I would say: Sweden/Finland: tied nr. 1 France: 3 Norway: 4
The pallets represent his stressful imprisoning work, which prevents him from being himself. They can probably find pallets in Liverpool, so no shipping needed. The dancers are the embodiment of alcohol and its effect. That "horse riding" is when he drinks vigorously to free himself from all the work related negative feelings, which prevent himself from being and enjoying himself and getting on the dance floor. At one point "the alcohol" literally lifts him up and what a grand joyous euphoric moment it is-at least in his own mind. It's clever how the alcohol and its effect is presented though the dancers-considering how they have to act around him the whole time unlike the alcohol in reality does when it's drunk. "Hulk arms" is pretty good name for his costume. Probably better than the "cabbage worm" the costume designers named it.
Haha I love your reaction! I have pretty much the same reaction every time I watch it, just this mix of being extremely entertained yet utterly confused lol
The Finnish lyrics are actually pretty good. It's a self-deprecating take on the introspective musings of a Finnish male faced with the challenge of social interaction and possibly even finding the guts to enter the dance floor in a night club this weekend. Since my long gone late teens I've had the habit of describing this yet-to-be-solved conundrum the following way: 'Should I ever find myself _drunk enough_ to go dancing, I should definitely find myself _too drunk_ to go dancing'. There are versions of these Käärijä videos with English subtitles, and my guess is that there are men that can relate to Käärijä's message all over the world. Love your reactions -- great energy, great banter! Keep up the good job.
It is not a human centipede, but a piggy train, he is riding the dancers to make them his images on the dance floor, Käärijäs own idea for the choreography.
Käärijä is to DANCE what your favourite uncle is to SONG. He knows all the words to My Way and he knows the tune but he won't get up and sing until he's knocked back 6 drinks. When he does, you know what he doesn't know. He can't sing. But we all love him anyway. The dancers at the start are dancing cha cha cha the proper way. At the end they are doing it Käärijä's way. Genius!
I mean there are huuuge shows in europe apart from the annual event that celebrate Past Eurovision Entries. Basically the Best of the last 15 years and sometimes beyond. There sure are eurovision fans in the US few and far between, but i think to be that spectacle also in the USA, NBC needs it put on the their main tv feed, year after year. Not just hide it on their peacock service. i know from time differences its on live from 3pm Easter to about 6pm or even later, but it deserves that kind of showmanship in the USA as well.

I really like your idea of bringing Eurovision to Las Vegas. It's such an obvious thing, that I'm now wondering why hasn't anyone else thought about it before. Eurovision is basically a show ready made for Vegas.
@@juhjuk Suomelainen perkelä, ää puhu paskaa. Yes it happend for obvious reason, there is war in Ukraine and for security reasons the second place got to host this time.
@@juhjuk Ukraine couldn't host for obvious reasons. They're hardly going to let a city in the US host it. When most people who watch it will be in Europe.
That's freaking insulting to reduce Eurovision as a show made for Las Vegas. It's not just a dumb show made for fun and money, it has a history. For one damn time something doesn't revolve around USA there's still some who want to make it about them.
This was the national contest in Finland, the Eurovision performance was different and even better and the entire stadium sang with him check it out!😃 Thank you for another great video reaction!❤
Watched your reaction to 'I still have faith in you' by ABBA. Immensely touched.. Now this! Guess there is a kind of Nordic magic :-) Greetings and love from Finland 💚💚💚💚
This live performance is from the Finnish UMK competition, where the Eurovision contestant is selected. The live performance at the actual Eurovision is a bigger and more spectacular version of this show.
With few words about words. I think idea of song is embraced finnish (drinkin) culture. First singer want/try to open himself, but can't without booze... he dinking beer by two hands - finns are very formal. As you see he also kept his horses. But then he get it. He get drunk by pina colanda and released. - whole story Emotion of get freed is important in this story. Greetings from Finland!
Sorry, as an American, Eurovision should stay in Europe. The Purpose of the event is to unite Europeans around something as simple a song writing contest. Its morphed into this grand spectacle thats obviously very camp and people understand and appreciate that quality of it. Some countries take is seriously but the ones that dont go there just for the party.
I dont now way many like this song But funny to se and hope go good this year. But is not a costump party. Is Eurovision song Contest jus remember tha people. And fun some one liket i think is jus fun and i think Norway and Sweden and mabye Franc gone be more close race how gone win this year. So i look forower to 13 may smil❤😊.
@@Piia2023 A song that immediately gets stuck isnt always positive. Then you get tired faster. I love Tattoo and Cha cha cha. I can totally sing them both
At first he doesn't sing, I don't like that. And too much chachacha, rather simple. But it's part of the Eurovision song contest, but let me say end up at number 5 or something. Loren for the win. And Norway and Austria are also good. Germany also top 15.
