At least something...^ --- Notes *This references an existing well-known finnish classic, "1972" by Anssi Kela. It's a melancholic song reminiscing about a class and what they're up to know, lamenting the fact they used to have such lofty dreams and "change the world" but ended up becoming average or downright miserable people after all. ** "Red Marli" refers to the red, non-alcoholic glögi variety of the brand Marli, something Käärijä often refers to as his favourite drink. Glögi is a spiced berry juice beverage typically served hot during christmas season. ^ "Ees jotain" as a phrase means "at least something", but it's a desperate, pleading phrase that is hard to fully capture in English. Most finns wouldn't be caught dead pleading for things like this. Essentially "I'd take anything, please, give me anything at all". EDIT; fixed some errors!

As a foreigner his songs give off those douchebag rapper vibes, but his lyrics are quite the opposite... I was expecting to hear him singing about having lots of money and women but in fact the song is about having no money and zero bitches😭 Truly iconic
Bragging is a huge taboo in Finnish society. No matter how rich or famous you are, you're never allowed to say it out loud. It is said that in America even the poor wants to look rich while in Finland even the rich want to look poor (or at least middle-class). Anyone who boasts having lots of women would certainly be considered a virgin. It makes no sense for a grown man who actually has success with the ladies to tell about it. A couple of Finnish phrases: - Kell' onni on, se onnen kätkeköön = fortune should be hidden - Pidä kynttiläsi vakan alla = Keep your candle under a lid (as in don't boast with your talent or money) - Omakehu haisee = self-congratulation stinks To give some context, the thing that bothered Finns the most about Donald Trump was the fact that he didn't downplay his wealth. Not the crimes or incompetence, but the boasting.

The lyrics and the music are my life for real... Especially the chorus. It just perfectly describes that state. At least, for me. But, maybe now that I found out about Käärijä, my life will change. At least, it did as I am happy for the first time in a long time, got new friends, etc etc, I need an essay to describe every way he changed my life. @@m8t5m26 I have read translations although many of the translators acknowledge that the way he uses language can be hard to translate. That said, lyrics even in your first language are often hard to interpret
