I have oily skin and live in a very humid country, the Laneige cream skin works wonder to my skin. One layer is more than enough, I can skip the moisturizer step and just top it with Sunscreen!
Thank you for your take on the I'm From Rice Toner! I bought this one a year ago after hearing sooo many people rave about it but, in all honesty, it doesn't do anything for me. After using almost the whole bottle I can say there is no brightening / glow on my skin... it's slightly moisturizing but that's what basically every other toner I've tried does as well (and often a lot better). Wouldn't recommend this product when there are a) better toners and b) better brightening products out there.
I just found this video. Wish I had found it sooner! Thank you for making this! I tried most of these products in your video because of James Welsh's recommendations. I discovered James Welsh before I found your channel. I have dehydrated oily skin. I used the following products, in this order: I'm From Rice Toner, Neogen Micro Ferment Essence, Laneige Cream Skin Refiner (winter time only), and now I'm using Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence. I thought I'm From Rice Toner was just OK for me, don't think I'll be repurchasing it. Neogen Micro Ferment Essence didn't seem like anything special. I felt like I was just putting water on my skin and it wasn't treating my skin in any special way. I would not purchase Neogen again. Laneige Cream Skin Refiner was AWESOME and sooo soothing and hydrating for the winter time. Right now, I'm using Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence and I'm loving it! I put on 2 thin layers right after cleansing and it makes my skin feel soft and nourished -- looove it! So, Laneige Cream Skin Refiner and Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence are winners for me and my dehydrated oily skin!

I'm 28 & I just started my "skincare journey" like 7 months ago & i'm using the hado labo essence toner now but i'm looking for something better. i cant decide between the Neogen or the I'm From Rice toner. My skin is starting to get dry now, i don't know if its because of age or the weather but at least i no longer get breakouts! so i'm excited to watch this video & hear your recommendations! im currently using the Neogen one, almost finishing the whole bottle already. and I LOVE IT! ive got oily combo, and have some skin sensitivity, acnes and inflammation issues occasionally. this essence doesn't break me out, i love it because it's so easy to layer and hydrates my skin without feeling suffocated. i also put some of it in a 30ml mist bottle to mist my face throughout the day. or make my skin damp in between layers of serum... I use 3-5 serums at night, so that mist certainly helps to make my serum glide better and absorb easier. ive just bought the Missha one, and am gonna compare and see how i like it. 😁
Unfortunately the I'm From Rice Toner has consistently irritated my skin even when it's doing well. So weird since it's supposed to be awesome for sensitive skin :/ LOVE the laneige though especially in the winter
My opinion on the NeoGen real ferment micro essence: i honestly didn’t think it was that special tbh, there’s way better essences that give you better results

Used both Missha and Neogen. I really saw results with Missha, and saw a difference when I stopped using it. Neogen, I really don't care for. Maybe because of the complexity of the ingredient, it just doesn't have the concentration to make a difference?
People recommend the missha as a dupe for the sk2 essence. I have tried a bunch of “dupes” but they do NOT work as well as the original. For me it’s sk2 essence or the amore pacific essence. If you want to invest, this is where it’s at.
Great video. So sad that Missha is still testing on animals. Also, they removed the more impressive ingredients from the Essence Intensive and now only sell the RX version. They did the same with the night repair ampoule which is no longer being made and selling a weaker version, the Probio, that feels very average and not worth the money. What is the best cruelty free essence in your opinion? I have heard great things about the Cosrx, but have not tried it.
The Neogen caused little bumps on my forehead, and so did the I'm From rice toner around the side of my eyes. I kept cutting them off and going back to them, but then when I committed to using them regardless, it all went away. Now I repurchased both because they did eventually work very well for me. Love your reviews btw, I have an obsession with toners and essences and your videos helped me pick new ones!
For me IOPE bio essence is more like a dupe ok SkII i tried everything missha secret key and SkII and when i heard about IOPE can also be a dupe i tried it and for me IOPE is more like SKII
Everything is literally a dupe for sk ll. It only has that one ingredient and some preservatives like parabens. It should be illegal that it’s so expensive. The Costco galactomyses one is so much better. It has other ingredients than just that one, but still a very high amount of galactomyses
I remember when I tried the laneige cream skin I was like what's all the hype I didn't really care for it that much as I have dry skin but then I tried it again and again and now it's a Holy grail product for me it's so funny how sometimes your first impression is so different and you expect to love it and udont then all the sudden it's you favorite I can see why u have the video you have your right to change your mind on products because this was the product that did that for me. As for a rice toner the TYF rice toner is the one for me I took your recommendation on that one too.
I just got the I'm from rice toner and I also wasn't very impressed in terms of the hydration it offered. I think for it to be hydrating enough, I have to layer it up at least 3 times :/ I hope that I will see some brightening benefits after long-term usage though.

Well I'm not someone who would just use 2 products.🙈I'd just slate them into my regular routine which is usually something like toner, essence, serum, oil, moisturizer.
I have gone through a bottle of Laneige cream skin & I am obsessed, I am interested in trying the I’m From toner as I think I’ll like the consistency and want the extra brightening benefits.
Kelly i found the iope and the primera essence on ebay for 30$! I’ve been buying all my skincare products form ebay because they are cheap and affordable.
Hi Kelly! Have you tried the Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence (Rose Edition)? I love it. I've never used the SKII one and neither the Missha one, I'm curious for a comparison between these two and the Secret Key Essence (which is also the least expensive one). Thank you!
A comparison of centella focussed serums would be useful thanks. I like both the Missha and the neogen despite having eczema prone/super sensitive skin I haven't had any irritation with either. My dry skin really likes the laneige and it helps with the use of tretinoin for me. I haven't tried the two pricey essences as I love my Pyunkang Yul so much. I may try the rice toner in the Summer when lightweight formulations are better received by my skin. I'm still working my way through the Ti'am panthenol toner just now and it's very good for this Winter weather. Best wishes.
I thought you might interested in the following moisturiser: Dr G Filagrin Barrier Cream (it contains fatty acids/ceremides and cholesterol according to Director G (youtuber)), have you tried it or heard of it?
I find the Neogen to be thicker and more moisturizing, I am a bit confused about what she she is saying about these two. I use and LOVE the Neogen Essence in the winter time because I don't have a dry skin, otherwise I would use it all year round.
I agree with the little white bumps part of Neogen result on my skin too, (i think we have identical skin)however it was nicely dry for my face as I suffer from hot flushes I prefer cooling effect on everything I put on my face) I think those in between 49 ingredients something is not agreeing what we use before and after with Neogen, nevertheless I'm going to use the sample size up then move on to serum if I like all the way. Also think exactly same on Laneige I only tried the sample, once and it felt very nourishing without feeling heavy but all I want is a brightening effect from a toner. By all means I am going to keep a Laneige one on my closet for those emergency times use it as a first aid after being harsh to my skin if ever happens. It was the first time I tried a Laneige sample rather convincing product I must admit.
Amazing video!!! I own all of the products mentioned except the Iope, I still want to try it😊 I personally LOVE all of them, if I had to give up one, it probably would be the neogen. Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but it’s how I feel. Looking forward to your next vid, as always, I would love to know after washing, what are your following steps. Hahaha I love unpopular opinions, I usually have some myself! I've been doing 1st essence, toner and then serum, oil, cream etc lately. Fav serum is hard but I've been loving skinfood propolis essence/serum this winter!
Really surprised to hear how different the 2 white toners are! I was looking into the rice one as an alternative to the cream skin refiner, which I find a little too heavy for my skin, and those brightening benefits sound great! Is the rice toner scented at all though? I don’t see fragrance on the list but I’m not too familiar with ingredient names yet so i can’t really tell! Thank you!
oh this is so interesting to see differences depending of the person, i've used three bottles of the neogen essence in the past and i was soo into it, my skin liked it so much haha
@@KellyDriscoll yes it is ! i've tried the Purito Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence jsut after because the ingredients were similar to the neogen one but was disappointed and now alternating between the neogen one and the mugwort one from i'm from ! The primera and iope you mentioned look really great, i have to try !
I actually bought a sample of the Missha FTE based on this and I didn't see any difference and it broke me out 😭. So I got a sample of the Neogen and I actually really liked it and thought it it gave me such a nice glow/brightness that I didn't get with the Missha. But I'm still gonna listen to you about the Primera and IOPE Kelly! Please don't do me wrong lol!

Have you tried the secretKey Starting Treatment Essence, and if not would you consider reviewing it? Also how do you use up products that have not worked out? Do you you use them on your body?
OHMYGOD I THINK I FOUND MY SKIN TWIN. I HAD THE SAAAME PROBLEM WITH THE NEOGEN ESSENCE. And everyone kept raving about it and i just didnt understand WHY.It was so disappointing. THANK YOU. ❤️
Almost done w Missha Rev, all good no allergic reaction, slightly brightened skin.. & got new Primera essence btl, next in line to use, hope it’s good for me 😅
My issue with Misscha is that they change their formulation to much. I used their first generation formulation and it was amazing. Their second generation was terrible. I now use SKII and scared to go back because they may change again. My skin hates when I change products.

Just started the missha first essence and loving it. And I also love the rice toner. But I’m needing some brightening and tightening in my well age age 😅😅🤣
Sarika Shrestha I think you can. I find them both nice together. I do one missha first treatment essence after cleansing. Then one or two layers of rice toner depending on how my skin feels. Then an essence sometimes. I’ve been using I’m from mugwort one layer. It does well on my sensitive, dry dehydrated skin!!
Sarika Shrestha I am no expert but after watching kelly I think it’s lightest to thickest! I do one layer missha first treatment right after cleansing. Then one to two layers I’m from rice toner or any toner you like. I also like keep cool bamboo toner and use those interchangeable in the second step. Then I do one layer of essence. I currently use the I’m from mugwort essence.
The rice toner irritated my skin. I liked the texture but I had to wash my face after using it. I recently got the missah ones (rx and artimisia) and am excited to try them.
thanks for this comparison but in the beginning, u said that Missa used 2 fermented ingredients yeast and Bifida ferment lysate but apparently it's just the same one where Bifida ferment lysate is a probiotic ingredient derived from a specific type of yeast obtained by the fermentation of Bifida bacteria. secondly, I couldn't understand what is pro powder? I checked the ing. but I couldn't recognize it please explain it. and u mentioned that sake in NEOGEN is a yeast ferment but its a rice ferment
Treat your ampoule like serum a serum step (after or in place of), emulsion goes before moisturizer. Essence depends, if it's first essence then before toner, if it's regular essence then after toner.
I love these this or that vids! I cut my k beauty teeth on Missha and still have a spray version in my stash now! Love the rice toner and Iope is tied 1st place FTE with PureHeals for me… I like my FTE to be like Iope to prep the skin for more serums etc and find these two do that,' I’ve been eyeing the Neogen since a James Walsh raved about it but I think I’ll try the Primera next , Hera FTE is super luxe and I love that too

I don’t use toners and essences any more. Just stick with the basic products as cleansing oil, cleanser, PC niacinamide, tretinoin, moisturizer, PC 2% BHA and sunscreen.

I have used some K-beauty products, mostly sheet masks, but I diving into the K-beauty 10 step routine and have noticed a HUGE difference this past week. Wow, that's interesting. I have sensitive oily and acne prone skin. I'm From's Rice Toner has been a MIRACLE worker for my hyperpigmentation and gives my skin such a healthy glow. I follow up with The Pure Lotus' Essence and it's just been so amazing for my skin. Have you tried any Pure Lotus products?
Well i've tried both missha & neogen and my skin does not tolerate missha. I hv also tried laneige csr & i'm from rice toner, my skin loves i'm from rice toner more (it drank as soon as i pat it in). So i havent tried both primera & iope.. But since u like them both i am not sure which one to choose coz it seems my skin tolerates everything that u dont prefer 😂
I can not find these 2 products: Primera Miracle Seed Essence and Iope Bio Intensive Essence. Is there any similar products from Primera or Iope that does the same?
If you are stateside you can grab IOPE at Soko Glam. Primera has been reformulated since this video came out and I would not recommend the new version.

Alice dsouza Not Kelly, but I’m a fan of I’m From Rice. I do think it brightens my skin, but it does a much better job if you use it consistently/daily.

Will you please help me, I keep getting like conflicting reports on like what I should do for my skin. I’m 26 with dry dehydrated skin that can be flaky if left to it’s own devices. I’m looking at Laneige Cream skin refiner but I’m confused can I use it and still use an essence/serum followed by a moisturizer? Some people say to use a toner before the cream skin refiner, some say only use a moisturizer on top of it. I’m going to give you an example of my routine, Laneige Cream skin refiner>Cosrx Tripple HA ampoule>Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream. You can swap in Hanskin HA Essence or Cosrx Snail essence or the Missha First. Does anything about that routine make sense to you? Can you give me a recommendation of a combination of any of these mentioned or your own recommendations. Also curious about your thoughts on DR Jart Ceramidin cream, also the liquid. Please help, I’ve gotten lost into looking into so many products and so many opinions and they all conflict.
I use the Mizon collagen lifting serum at the moment. Is there a difference between serum and essence, and are you supposed to use one or the other or both in a skincare routine?
Serums are more concentrated than essences so they can deliver more benefits of the star ingredient. Generally an essence is like a booster to a routine so definitely use in addition to your serums.
I also prefer the original Missha FTE and the artemisia version vs. Neogen and Im from mugworth. I can get the Missha one at a cheaper price as a set (with the essence in travel size & Time revolution serum reg size & travel size) vs. Neogen and im from alone.
Omg, i have sensitised dry and severely dehydrated skin. I use the Laneige cream skin refiner and my dehydration issue just went M.I.A . Weirdly enough, my hyperpigmentation lightened in the process. Side note, i live in a humid tropical country, Malaysia but i use this toner morning and night, it helped my dry and dehydration a lot. Even my skin doesn't get red and angry mid-day. Highly recommend this toner for anyone who have similar skin issue as mine
I was about to buy it back then but saw it in a video by samapti stating it has a disrupting ph value and it has few essential oils and many other negative side of the product
