Don't think your mpg to l/100km is right.

On the standard engine yes agree and also if you don't keep the car long, however on my 2007 Freelander 2 2.2 I have had since new for nearly 15 years and being modified and mapped it is worth it, I achieve 37-40 mpg and improved response, also saved money on replacement filters. all depends on what you want

These are good filters, use k&n filter cleaner to dissolve the filter oil before washing it. Air dry only ( no compressed air, I balance mine on a radiator in the house 😊) then re oil the filter element with k&n filter oil. It really will last forever if taken care of, no scrubbing or airline drying. Great video, thanks for letting us see all your mods and jobs. 👍👍👍

I run K&N filters on all our cars and bikes. If looked after the are great value for money. You never have to pay for a new filter, so in two services it will have paid for itself. Power gains are minimal in a standard engine, but that’s not the reason most people buy a K&N. They buy them for the simple fact that your garage can’t keep charging you for a new air filter, even if the old one is still fine.

I actually fitted one of these on my 2011 Freelander 2 in January this year - on the basis that I had had one on one of my favourite cars , an XR2 mk1(!), back in the 80’s and it seemed to do the biz. On the Freelander I could feel a definite improvement in acceleration - generally more ‘willingness’ - and was pleased your test verified that. WAs it worth it? That combined with the longevity I would say a definite ‘yes’. (PS - have to concur with the request to edit your videos down a bit please.)

got a 13 plate sd4 and fitted it with a k+n filter had it remapped it's also a auto drive it with eco in mind ive averaged 40mpg and drive it normally i average 35 mpg

don't forget to oil it after washing it

You won't need to ever replace the filter as long as you own the car. So this will save replacing the filter every year so thus saving £10 a year. 5 years you would have spent the purchase price on paper filters. Also K&N are not as restrictive and stop more particals than a paper filter.

It is normal to see higher mpg ..more air inside the engine more fuel it needs

well, really surprised with results! esp when normal filters are so cheap! just shows some mods are not worth doing!

Nice video, I use K&N air filter for my motorbike : good product, you should use specific spray cleaner and oil.:-)

I am considering trying this, as sometimes it seems as though it's struggling to get going??? 2007 freelander 2. 2.2 diesel. Average around 34.5 to gallon. Does anyone know what the issue could be. Lack of power sometimes.???
