Things like this is a blessing that music can provide to some people.I'm currently fighting social anxiety that got severely worse since the pandemic started, but want to get beyond it now, and this is the first song I came to on my way to doing that ❤
Congrats! I doubt one comment really matters but that is something unsung heroes do. I'm a strong believer in purpose and its nice to know your alive and still with us. hard drugs are the worst.. kinda curious what you have done with that time.
Canada is a beautiful country, grew up here an never left once. But it has it’s downsides. Lots of drugs an alcohol abuse, homelessness and violence, all these things happen more than people think sadly, still tho it’s a beautiful place to be an I wouldn’t have chose anywhere else to grow up
It's insane that K-os isn't seen as a modern legend. His album Joyful Rebellion which this song is off of is absolutely fantastic, full of great lyricism, melodies and instrumentals. I bought the album on itunes and on CD, I can only hope the money went to this incredibly talented fellow.
+Bang Man (pretty sure the comment is directed at my statement) You ever heard of a one hit wonder? ...come on, use that brain. Not saying all is crap, hence why I'm on THIS page.
one hit wonder? why does it matter if he has a hit at all. it is art, it is music it, all has its place and purpose, it all has merit. Do you make music yourself? To negative man, so you don't like some of his stuff, fine, then the ones you don't like are not meant for you, thats fine, but show a little fucking respect to the artist for his work, he has gone through far more than you could possibly imagine in order to share it with the world. if you don't like it then don't listen and move a long to those that have more hits. I don't care if he has had one hit. I don't care if he sells a single song, its music it has meaning, maybe not you but then maybe things you considering better would be meaningless to others. I see your name is ifitscool, I guess that it is it for you then, its gotta be cool or at least considered cool, its art, its all cool. Its only music, why ruin it for others with your negativity? who are you that you feel that you may call him a one hit wonder. What are you? what have you done to benefit humanity?
And "they" make Drake take the glory like a snake, when real rappers be helping all our mind states, can't catch a break cause we decide to not be fake, instead gotta plan our great escape. K-OS inspired me to rap outta Toronto, Drake, discouraged us new comers.
Let me break it down for the youngins. He’s saying that now that has tried drugs, he’s finds that he can’t fight his new found addiction and now all he wants to do is get back to the man he used to be, which to him, was the was a better version of himself.
Those checkered floors though... Back in or around 2004 or 5, I saw k-os performing as the DJ for an intimate private party, hosted by a radio station, I believe. He looked like his soul had been taken from him. My man k-os, I hope you are back to the man you used to be. Your lyrics said it all...
Today in Canada is #BellLetsTalk day. It is to bring awareness to Mental Health and helping provide Youth and Adults with a better understanding of the symptoms of this very serious issue. Great Day to be Canadian.
K-Os is the Canadian hip hop poet....been listening to his music since the early 1990s....if you can't feel his lyrics, then you're not feeling Canadian hip hop at its truest....the same.e works out for any othe Canadian music genre
I live in Quebec and as a kid this song would play on the radio like, everytime. Just 'cause we speak french doesn't mean we only enjoy french things!!!! We love K-os anyway, we're canadian too ya know loL!
This video was filmed at the Hotel Waverly in Toronto. The Waverly is a proper shit hole. I lived there for 2 months. I couldn't sleep while I was there because the mice made so much noise as they scurried all around my room. Good Times. Go to school kids so you never have to live in a dump like the Waverly.
I worked near that place for a while, you see hookers bringing guys in there. Pure classy place. lol I hear back in the day it used to be decent. Probably 100 years ago.
+Bobby Parv At a music conference they used him as an example. In the height of his hype they wanted to put his song in an Apple commercial but he declined because of 'artistic integrity' (aka: not selling out). After arguments about earning $ (a necessary evil), the music industry essentially dropped him since he wouldn't play ball. His USA distribution and promo, record label, etc all ditched him. I just saw his new single, out for 1 month now - only has 5k hits. Ouch.
I like the small nudges at the themes here and there throughout the video. It tells the story of how sometimes you can’t escape the image certain societies perceive you as. So don’t try to be something you’re not: you’ll lose everything and wish you were just real with yourself the first time.
the fact that k-os is a graduate from my high school makes me so proud to go to my school, like if someone ever tries to diss us, we can just be like 'yeah but did k-os go to your school or nahh'
I grew up to this song and others. I can't believe I'm only coming across these videos now. Crabbuckit was the only one I saw on T.V and a few others I heard on the radio. We need to spread this like fire especially for what's happening in Canada right now...
