A review of some of the K1 type speaker mics that I currently use. At the end of the video there are video samples of the transmit and receive audio for the speaker mics reviewed. All samples were performed at the same volume setting using the same radio for both the transmit and receive samples. The recording mic remained in the exact same position for all tests.

I own 3 of those Commountain speaker mics. 2 of them don't even have the IP54 label on them. However they look identical to the one that does. I just "field tested" one on a 200 mile segment hike on the Continental Divide National Scenic trail over 2 weeks and it held up great. Although I wasn't very worried because I've also been using these during the winter months on backcountry ski hut trips in Colorado and really any hike I do locally in Indian Peaks wilderness (very rugged and lots of weather conditions). I highly recommend these to anyone looking for a speaker microphone for use in the backcountry.

The ComMountain Speaker mic Reminds me a ton of the motorola Speaker mics I agree with you minus the Pin connector setup 20:10 @KS6DAY

Many thanks. You cleared up a number of my questions. When you get a chance, you might look into the various desktop mikes. My Alinco DX-50, for instance, uses the same mike as many Kenwoods.

great side by side review..cant see the extra jing for the kenwood mic.. FYI,, my fang decided to not transmit audio,, i sprayed a little contact cleaner in the connector holes, popped the connector in and out a few times and all better! hey you got nothing to lose right! thanks! t

I have a Kenwood mic that has an integrated antenna cable. You can relocate the antenna to your shoulder. Audio quality is nothing to write home about. BTW, when we transitioned to jumpsuits, we had the tailors add a mic loop on the center chest area...no more craning your head and eyes toward your shoulder to speak into the mic. I also used the audio tube 100% when I was on patrol...good for my bad ears and goos because the turds could not hear dispatch tell me that turd had warrants:)

indeed the Kenwood has great sound quality transmitting. receiving sound quality was good, just need to turn up volume more than other mics do. but I would not spend 80 dollars for it. sound does not mean that much to me. Anytone has the next best sound quality. Commountain is next and for the price and quality, Commountain is the better choice.

I been looking st the anytone radio I have the KG-UV9GX and The KG-1000G Plus and The KG-935G Plus all great radios And no they are not cheap Chinese radios By any means

I like my Commountain shoulder mics, but when I use a K1 to Multi-Pin adapter and transmit there is a carrier, but NO modulation.

Good video and tips. You could probably replace the 2.5mm socket for a 3.5mm one. My Bose headphones have a 2.5mm socket and come with a 2.5 to 3.5mm cable. I also thought this was very strange.🤷‍♂️

Deviation levels were all different so couldn't make an accurate evaluation....should have backed off a little on the loudest mics to equalize levels; you can't compare quality with widely differing levels. Also there was an acoustical resonance in the room (or suitcase) that muddied up all the transmit tests....should have moved the record mic closer to speaker or at least get it out of a partial Helmholtz resonator. A lot of editing should've been done to this; lot of rambling.

There are hundreds of Cheap brand speaker mics that are identical to the Baofengs... I prefer my Raytalk RSM-350 and Raytalk RSM-400W Ip67 Speaker Mics 4:08 @KS6DAY
