I wouldn't worry about it as long as you're reaching normal temps at operating speed. It's perfectly normal for these bikes to get hotter while stopped. You know there is an issue when the bike is shutting off on you.
NIGHTMARE TURN IT OFF. I DONT KNOW THAT WOULD FRIGHTEN ME I WOULD TAKE IT TO A SPECIALIST WHO KNOWS ABOUT THESE MERCHINES & MAKE SURE ITS NOT A RENT BOY.
Overheating then that could definitely be the issue. I'd suggest having it checked out by a bike mechanic so you don't spend money unnecessarily. Good luck!
@Anne Steele, it is a relatively new bike (2008) the issue was related to the overheating rectifier. Yes, the rev counter stopped functioning due to the same issue.
This light came on after my bike meet last night and man did it scare me. But I let it chill, I rode it calmly for a minute until it went back down in temp and boom. Just gotta throw on my radiator and new fluids.
Try new radiator, new fluids of course, also gotta realize it’s an older bike. Water cooled. When you live in a hot place that’s a factor, you not opening it up and letting it breath that’s another problem. Don’t rev it when it’s just sitting there too. Shut it off when you see the red light.
@orion2k9 Yeah :( I've been cracking my skull trying to figure out what is causing it to do this. I finally put it in dealer mode today and it threw a code C93 which is supposed to be related to the steering damper solenoid. Going to look into it in greater detail tomorrow.
Best to relocate the rectifier from its original location, is it located behind the radiator? If so then ask a mechanic to simply move it and mount it on the side of the bike below one side of the fairings using a piece of carbon fibre to hold everything in place.
Just wondering. Did your bike shut off when it reached that high temp? My bike shuts off after riding it for 30-40 mins. When I down shift and about to slow down to stop it shuts off. I have new battery and new map for my pc3. I just thought these were the cause of the engine shutting off. My temp reached as high as 225 *F I just can't find the issue.
@@minipetter9856 probably but I found the issue if someone help this the pipes of my bike inside of the engine was dirty when I cleaned is Don’t pass anymore of 180-200*F
@t2mniu, it did shut off when it reached high temps. It also would not start until it cooled off enough again. Sounds like your bike is having the same issue mine had. Good luck!
That is nowhere near overheating. You dont overheat until you hit 240F- 250F. That means you need to unplug and replug your steering damper -SD or 5d= steering damper

I encountered the same problem. Is there a problem in the rectifier? with him everything was fine. how does the rectifier allow the motor to overheat? The fan works for me, but the temperature of the engine does not fall

Why does my 07 gsxr600 sound like it has a high pitched alarm coming from the engine when i shut it down. Continues for nearly 20 minutes after ive shutbtge bike down and removed the key. Please someome tell me that its normal.
Im new to bikes but found your video whilst looking on the internet for answers. I am going to look at a 2008 suzuki gsxr 600 my first bike ive personally owned and it has an FI light on i think that is for the servo unit so no big deal there however when I asked the guy to send me videos of the bike he had it idling sending me videos throughout a Id say 20 minute time span in the first video which i think was a cold start it was at somewhere around 70 degrees I could not really see. 10 minutes after that it was at 191 degrees. then idk if he shut it off or kept it running but about 30 minutes later in one of the videos he sent it just idling keep in mind the bike has not been ridden at this time it was either idling or doing slight revs but about 30 minutes after the 191 temperature it was now at 218 degrees should I be worried about this or is it not a big deal if it was idling for about 30 minutes and got to 218 maybe higher is that something to be concerned with
I just got an 09 gsxr 600. I can’t tell if there’s radiator fluid idk what to do. The bike is in amazing shape so it’s definitely not leaking. Mabe I’m just parinoid. Any advice?
Dunno if this could be related to your issue but i just recently bought a project FZ700. Needed a few parts here and there nothing major. Worked on it for about 3 months before she finally purred to life. Anyway I am outside doing some painting on my tires for about 15-20 mins while i let it idle next to me all the sudden i look up and the coolant is boiling in the reserve tank. And it starts pissing all over my driveway! I was told it could be a water pump or a thermostat. Anyone on here if you could help me out id really appreciate it :(
Hey, Cody. If your bike is experiencing something similar to this, it is most likely a faulty rectifier that needs to be replaced or relocated. I'd start there. It fixed my issue.
