@@Tovalokodonc This coat of arms never was Hungarian. It always represented Slovakia as "Northen land" in Hungary. Hungary had white and red that represented them.
A Hungarian on the use of the Holy Crown on the coat-of-arms: not only I not mind it, but honestly I am positively happy with it. The Holy Crown looks very-very good on the Slovak coat-of-arms too, Slovak friends could make a habit out of it if they wish. Slovakia is also a successor state of the good old Kingdom and we weathered historical storms together and the Holy Crown just decorates every coat-of-arms beautifully. It emanates honour, dignity, faith and devotion. It is old, it is real and it has divine power.
Sadly a lot of Slovaks still consider Hungarian kingdom's History as just Magyar history and see that period as the "1000 years of opression and colonialism" wich was a 19th century Slovak nationalistic rhetoric to insurge Slovaks against Magyarization but still to this day many Slovaks still believe it for some reason, Slovaks and Hungarians should ignore all of those chauvinists from both side and start embrace their history together
@@jarko2349 I agree with both of you. I don't really think that there was really any opressing on slovak ethnicity before 48. As nationalism wasnt really around in Hungary before 48. Both magyar and slovak ethnic groups called themselves Hungarian. Magyarization was an effect that happened because of the Habsburg rulers. Unfortunatly magyarisation was about claiming only the magyars are the true Hungarians. Thats probably when the two ethnic groups began to distance themselves from eachother weaking both of them that was ultimatly a win for the Habsburgs as they disunited the people of the basin. If you ask me it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if instead of magyarizaton there would have been a movement that was promoting hybridising the magyars and slovaks bringing them closer together, possibly making a unique language.
V anglickej encyklopédii zo 17 storočia sa píše že jazyk Hungarie je slovacky. Vyraz maďar nemohli použiť lebo ešte nejestvoval. Maďar je od Macar od tureckých čias Macar je písmo slovom je to Madžar Tak hovoria aj Slovinci. Keby Hasburgovci nezaviedli Nemčinu. Ani Kazaniči by nevymyslel maďarčinu. Na sto percent to bol jazyk Sikulov. Lebo odtiaľ pochádzal. Z jazyka ostalo len 10 pecent. Ostatné slová použil z európskych slovníkov ktore skomolil. Preto Turci počujú turečinu ale nič nerozumia. Tak sikulsky jazyk zanikol. Kazačino esperanto sa museli naučiť

Svätoštefánska koruna patrí všetkým národom bývalého Uhorského kráľovstva, bol to celé stáročia mnohonárodnostný štát, aj nás Slovákov. Až v 19. storočí vystúpil na scénu Maďarský nacionalizmus a šovinizmus ktorý si prisvojil všetko Uhorské vrátane tejto koruny.
That is crown of Great Moravia, bottom part is of Byzantine origin, top part of Latin. In bottom part is written Geovit, krales... kral is king in Slovak, es is latin and greek. So it is not kiralyi, or konig. Geovit is Greek and Latin translation of Svetopluk, Geo=word, svet, vitae =silny (pluk) i.e. Svetosil or Svetopluk
St. Stephan original name was Vendovit= Vajko. His grandfather was Braslav, last Slavic ruler of Panonia.. Only when he turned from orthodoxy to catholicism and replaced old slavonic with latin and was baptised second time as Stephanos. Against him rebeled his own uncle Kopan

Wow! I 've never seen the Slovak coat of arms before; it's quite similar to the Hungarian one, except of the hills are blue, not green, and it lacks the red-white strips on left side of the shield and the open crown from the base of the cross.
@perseus274 the Hungarian coat of arms wasn't changed, because it would't have any sense; despite of some elements being the symbol of a former part of Hungary, what has become an independent country, this whole coat of arms represent the Hungarian history (and most people actually don't know the origin of each element, only know that this coat of arms represents Hungary). According to this standpoint, it could be questionable as well, why does India mention within its anthem a Pakistani province (and river), or why is it called in most languages after a Pakistani river, or why is Russia named after a former country being located mostly in the area of the present day Belarus and Ukraine (and had actually the same capital with the modern day Ukraine), or why does Romania have a region called on the same name with an independent country, with no distinction between them (yes, I meant Moldova), or why is an originally Ukrainian folk song, which is about Ukraine, considered a Polish folk song, furthermore, one of the most popular and well-known Polish folk songs (Hey, falcons! (Hej, sokoły!)), and the list could be continued as long as we would like... So, the politically correctness is sometimes against the conventions, so, in those cases, it would be completely senseless. By the way, your coat of arms, and national anthem are very nice.

Well, there are some people out there who consider the period of existence of the Austro-Hungarian Empire to be golden times, so I guess in this case it might be a reference to that (basically still considering Slovakia as part of the Kingdom that's long gone). That's just my interpretation though. And also, from what I've been told, the Slovaks have used this crown on their coat of arms during a certain period of time during the Slovak uprising of 1848 on one of their flags; and I've also been told that since Hungary (Uhorsko) had been a kingdom of multiple nations, the 'Holy Crown of Hungary' belonged (in a way) to the Hungarians as well as to the Slovaks.
@@adveniatregnumtuum0 correct, Hungarian Kingdom was Multi-ethnical and no ethnicity was superior or inferior to one another since all were subjects of the Holy crown of St. Stephen, it's only during the 19th century Ethnic tensions started to rise, with Magyar nationalism who stated that Magyars were the only true creators and rulers of the Hungarian kingdom wich in repercussion led the other peoples such as Slovaks to try to separate themselves from the Kingdom, that's why our coat of arms got the green replaced by the blue to affirm our Slavic identity and later the crown removed as rejection of the monarchy that became hostile toward us
@@Tovalokodonc Well, Not really, during the revolution the king of Hungary was an Habsburg, so at that time the Habsburgs were de facto the Hungarian monarchy, The Slovak volunteers of the Slovak national council remained loyal to the Habsburgs and so to the monarchy because of the promise of an Slovak autonomous state, in the end that same monarchy for Wich Štúr and his men had fighted for completely lied and betrayed them and then hostilities against us began with the magyarisation. ALSO keep in mind that a lot of Slovaks also fought on Kossuth's side because he promised minority rights within the newly proclaimed Hungarian state (Wich was complete bullshit as him and his followers were Jacobonists, an ideology born during the French revolution wich promoted the establishment of an single national identity and language within the whole Nation and the eradication of every other local languages and forced assimilation of every ethnic minorities, Wich sadly exactly what happened in France and Wich Kossuth and his men seeked for Hungary and wich the magyarisation intented to do) so in both side we Slovaks were fucked so yes I keep what I said before the monarchy betrayed us and became hostile toward us. Also last thing, about what I said about magyarisation and Kossuth stuff, I'm not throwing the fault at the whole Magyar people (btw many Hungarians denounced magyarisation and were punished for that) but only Nationalists seduced by the revolutionary and nationalistic ideas from France who corrupted the Crown of Saint Stephen and his lands
@@Tovalokodonc 40,000 Slovaks fought alongside the Hungarians in 1848. The Slovak National uprising of 1848 by comparison only had a few thousand soldiers. The Slovaks didn’t start the hostility. They were your bros until later Magyarization.

@@-the_emperor-1660 no, it is the Hungarian holy crown that 2 Pope Sylveszter sent to 1 Hungarian King Szentistván, thus giving his blessing to the establishment of the Kingdom of Hungary, the crown has no place on the Slovak coat of arms. You cannot explain that the crown belongs to the Slovaks, because it belongs to the Hungarian King, but since it is not there, it therefore belongs to the Hungarian state
@perseus274 Silesia and the Moravian region are part of the Czech Republic, so it is okay that it is on their coat of arms, but Slovakia is not part of Hungary, after Slovakia became independent, it tried with all its might to destroy the Hungarians living there (unfortunately, this is still the case today). Then by what right are you trying to explain that St. István's crown belongs there? But you say it best that the two countries have nothing to do with each other and that history is not the same either. The other is about the Slovak coat of arms, a cut part of the Kossuth coat of arms Kossuth was also Hungarian, I admit that the 2 hills and the crown are legitimate, because the symbols are as follows: 3 hills = Mátra, Tatra, Fátra, and the crown is the crown of the highlands, the double cross is the symbol of Hungarian Christianity, of which the 2 hills and a crown could remain in the title
The Holy Crown of Saint Stephen belongs to Slovaks as much as to Magyars, Croats, Rusyns and any other people that was part of the Multi-ethnical Kingdom of Hungary, the Holy crown started to be related more to Magyars with the rise of nationalism in the 19th Century with the creation of a romanticized version of Hungarian history who Saw the Kingdom as purely Magyar and belonging only to them

In English and most in the world yes(Wich is a mistake), but some other langages like Slovak we still make the difference, Maďar (Magyar in slovak) is the ethnic name for Hungarians in English and Maďarsko (Hungary in slovak) refers to the ethnic land inhabited by Magyars while Hungary (Uhorsko) refers to the Hungarian Kingdom without any ethnic affiliation (before the 19th Century), Hungarian was just a civic name for everybody who inhabited the Kingdom, you could be a Slovak Hungarian, Magyar Hungarian, Croat Hungarian, Rusyn Hungarian, German Hungarian etc... it's only in the 19th Century with the rise of nationalism that Jacobinist Magyars who were inspired by France's Jacobinist policies of imposing French language and French national consciousness everywhere in the country (and by that erasing the many diverse cultures and languages that France had) that Magyar nationalist decided that a proper Hungarian should speak Magyar and see himself as Magyar and nothing else and thus Magyar and Hungarian became synonyms

Later, when hills and stripes were added, they represented: Hills - Upper Hungary (mountains), Two lanes - Lower Hungary (plain) and the Arpád Dynasty. When in the 19-20. century, Hungarian nationalism and chauvinism began to manifest itself, considering the Hungarian kingdom as one nation. As a result, Slovaks began to take more interest in their existence (because it had not bothered them until then) and gradually distance themselves from the Hungarians. We repainted the flag and coat of arms in Slavic colors after the example of Russia (which the Balkan states also have) and as a sign that the Slovaks want to secede.

@perseus274 you really don’t understand something. This is the hungarian crown. Slovaks can use their own crown if any. I do not care other issues where one nation are using the symbol of other nation. That is simple theft.
