Ok, I had a couple errors in the first video I uploaded, finally getting around to fixing those issues. First the original filter I got did NOT have the bushings in the box where as this one did and there is an extra mounting screw that I did not do.

The guy I bought my Voyager from was running K&N filters, and it caused the engine to drastically bog down during a point in power application, in every gear. He had another new filter, and after I installed that the problem went away. I then bought the bike. These filters are very susceptible to unpredictable cleaning and oiling outcomes. You could be forcing the computer to reduce fueling due to air starvation, losing lots of power, and the unaware will blame the bike.

I've been running K&N filters since the mid 90's on just about everything I own. The biggest issue is cleaning and oiling the filters. If there is to much oil on them it will suck thru the intake past the MAF and gum it up. If that happens the car/bike will run really bad. If you clean and oil it properly, the air will pass thru it without causing any restrictions and even better than a paper filter. No one is going to gain 10HP by changing an air filter, but you may pick up a MPG. If you have a "New" filter from K&N, some of them come "soggy", I have sprayed off brand new filters and re oiled them before installing, but not very often. The other issue with even changing a filter now the ECU will detect the air flow and cut/add the fuel based off that. I had the bike ECU flashed and compensated for the K&N filter, not that it should need it, but the ECU Flash woke the bike up more than anything. Same with changing stock exhaust, it may sound better but unless you adjust the computer to compensate, probably not helping you any. Anyhow, thanks for commenting and watching.

@@RagerJackOfAll Ya they can be run forever because of closed loop fueling. Operational efficiency is another matter, and often invisible because manufacturers will give huge programming leeway to compensate for dirty filters.

@@goodday126 I know the Voyager I had had a big gap around 3000-3500 Rpm's you could just "feel" it in the bike and you could tell the fuel was being cut or there was a timing issue, by the top of the power band you could tell the ECU was just cutting fuel also. Had the ECU flashed at Ivans Performance, made it a much smoother running, cooler, better top end, and got rid of that gap in the power band. Was worth every penny. Again thanks for watching and appreciate the comments / conversation.

Good video help. How many miles between your air filter changes Greg?(Changing air filter on a GoldWing is a 90 minute job.)

I usually change the first after a couple thousand miles since I'm in the Carolinas lots of bugs. I always switch to a K&N after that and since they are so easy to get out every time I change the oil after that, so 3000-5000 miles I just inspect it. If the K&N gets dirty since all of my other vehicles have them I always have the cleaning and re oil kits handy. Now if it was a 90 minute job instead of 4 screws, probably every 7000-10000 miles depending on the intake system. I'm not sure if the Goldwing has a screen to filter out the "big bugs" vs the little ones, but would check at the first 7000 and see what it looked like and go from there. The K&N filters are expensive, there's always been a debate on the HP gains and benefits. Goldwing's not really a "I need more HP" kind of bike but if you gain a couple MPG, may be worth looking into. K&N website has dyno charts on most of their filters. What year Goldwing do you have? Seems pretty extensive for an Air Filter change, usually they should be a 5 to 10 minute job.

I ordered a K&N for my Vulcan 900LT and it too did not come with the bushings. Instructions say to cut the old bushings out of the stock filter and reuse them. Right.

Yeah I was getting people blasting me for "You didn't use the bushings!!!" lol and the original did not come with them and the OEM ones did not fit. Now this one, the top bushing still did not fit the hole, I could have drilled but the bushing fit the other filter...... Really not consistent for K&N, have been buying the filters for as long as I can remember probably 20 years. Thanks for watching.

I have the same bike but few years older. Bought it preowned. I just love the look of your bike. So pristine. What do you do man to keep it that way! 👍🏻

Never ride that one... lol Sold it last year but it mainly sat in the garage. I live in Myrtle Beach don't do much touring. Thought it would be a nice comfortable ride, which it was, but HOT and Heavy for traffic. Had around 3000 miles on it when I sold it. Before the back surgery this year, I did have a 72' Kawasaki H2 I have some videos on it on here, put way more miles on it and it looked better than the Voyager. Basically nothing special, when I first get a bike home, put a good hard wax on it, then just keep a bottle of McGuiars detail spray or something similar near where I park it with a clean microfiber towel. Get back, take off the helmet, spray the tank, fender, bags if the bike has it, quick wipe and done. Once a month or so take an extra 10 minutes or so to detail the motor a little. I have found that initial coat of wax makes it super easy to keep clean, takes an hour or so then, but just a quick wipe down, saves you from hours of trying to keep detailed. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment.

THERE ARE 3 BOLTS THAT HOLD THE FILTER IN PLACE. YOU ONLY INSTALD THE TOP CENTER ONE

There is one at the top that holds the filter in place while you put the cover on, the other 2 go thru the chrome cover and the steel inserts from the outside.
