Personally, I was kind of glad to see them go... I think that he has been able to put out more episodes bc he doesn't have to spend as much time writing the puns and editing them in. I know it was cool to see that side of his personality come out, but I would rather have more deck techs.
@@thatonedudejake Yeah, my experience has been that the deck plays totally differently with a flash enabler out, but I only have 3 (Teferi, Leyline, and Vivien), so I've never had to deal with having a second one stuck in hand.
@@deathtoallturkeys Prophet of Kruphix is banned and I normally play at an LGS, so I don't run it. That having been said, it's definitely an amazing fit, so if your group is ok with it more power to you.
I had an Ezuri, Claw of Progress morph deck and was super excited to see Kadena come out to help out the archetype more. Great stuff as always Mitch, super excited to add some of these to my deck!
Kadena is one of my top 5 favorite commanders of all time! Thank you for making this deck tech! I was having a difficult time figuring out how to upgrade the deck out of the box and still stay in budget. Love your videos keep up the amazing work!
Holy Sh*t... I was getting worried (and a little upset) that you wouldn't include "morphin' time" as one of the tactics. Glad to see it at the end of the list. I'm so relieved....
Made a ninjamorph the second kadena was previewed. Glad to make some additions to it thanks to your experienced eye. Never had more fun at blockers phase.
I bought the premade version of this deck for $40 where it had the majority of these cards already. Other cards I like having in it are Tendershoot Dryad, Seedborn Muse, and Reliquary Tower. Tendershoot Dryad is only in there to give Saprolings Ascend where they gain +2/+2. You also create a Saproling creature at the beginning of each upkeep.
I think a great video you should make is a Deck Building video. I always struggle figuring out how many of what kind of cards to include (card draw, mana rocks/dorks, removal, etc.). Each deck you make seems well-balanced and it would be awesome to see your process on deciding what cards you include and how many of what type you include. As always, fantastic deck and I can't wait for the next one!
The Command Zone did a great episode on this awhile back. You can look up "Commander Deck Building Template" or just watch it here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yJ6m_3J1hjI.html
I made some upgrades to my precon recently which ended up being a lot of the same cards that you added give or take a few, but the one I'm definitely adding now has to be Vela the Night-Clad
For some infinite turn shenanigans, add wormfang manta, combos with scroll of fate (avoid losing your next turn) and temur sabertooth. Flip, bring back to your hand, repeat. And it's super budget.
Great deck tech, I am very tempted to build this deck now. One suggestion at this price point would be to buy the pre-constructed 2019 deck since it's currently around $30 and make the swaps for the suggested cards in this video, that will leave you around the same $50 cost and with some additional good cards in your collection.
I've been playing this commander since the day it came out, initially I didn't have enough ways to close out the game. It is good to see that you put plenty of those in. I hadn't thought of Vela, definitely going to be testing that out
Guardian project is the nuts in this deck, since morphs always trigger it drawing you a card each time (they have no name so they can't share a name). The only downside being that you might have to explain that interaction to your opponents :D
Bonus that turning a creature face up is a special action that does not go on the stack. As such, you can morph one of the counterspell creatures in response to a split second card or when there is something blocking activated abilities on the battlefield.
Mono Blue, Mono Green, Sultai, Abzan, Selesnya, Simic, Azorius, Boros, Temur, Mardu, Esper, Bant, and Naya are usually problem colors for me to build around, but Throne of Eldraine and War of the Spark have really turned things around for me. I'm currently building a weird non-aristocrats Rubinia (Soulsinger) and a pretty tight Licia (Sanguine Tribune).
I bought this deck when it came out and I’m a lot more excited to use it now, I already have a number of the cards and with those few added it can basically be a lot better.
Hmm.. going to need to look through this video again later, my sister got this deck and has a good number of cards in it already, though she spent more (mostly lands)
We definely need a revisit around precons. I think the flashback commander is very challenging to build on a budget. Ghirred has pleny of option and madness too.
Nice deck techs, Being a Kadena player myself I would like to recommend two essential cheap cards (less than $2) for this deck : strionic resonator (let u get twice the morph effect) and wilderness reclamation (to be able to turn something face on anyone s turn) Crystal shard is also a good way to reuse you morph card of defend against an opponent when they tap out :-) Additional cards a bit more expensive (less than $5) to consider: Ujin the Ineffable and seedborn muse
This is a very interesting deck Tech the only criticism I have is there's already a commander 19 pre-con for this Commander and the easier road though it may cost you a little bit more money is to buy the pre-con then watch this Deck Tech and collaborate accordingly
Most of these just make basic sense with the commander's abilities. But Vela the Nightclad is actually a genius inclusion. It didn't occur to me that in order to block a colorless creature you'd need to be colorless yourself since they have no color to share. That can be a huge blowout out of nowhere, especially if you've been flooding morphs at instant speed on opponent's turns.
Guys like you and your great content are the reason for me to wait for All this great Videos. Will maybe build your old zacama commander with infinite mana Combo. I live this and your content. Discovered you some weeks ago and instantly subed. Great content!! 👍👍
Is Panharmonicon really that good in this deck? It doubles Kadena's draw, but that's about it. Most of your effects are flip effects, not ETB effects. Wouldn't you be better off adding another draw engine like Guardian Project (which is also cheaper)?
Really love the videos and how you break everything down. I've watched about 5 so far and will watching more as soon as I find some time. I do have one question...I noticed that you don't add Sol Ring to the decks on the "upgraded" version. I was under the impression that the Sol Ring should be in every EDH deck. The cost is under $4-ish.
Hey Mitch, can we get a Selvala, Explorer Returned deck tech? All the online sources are pretty dated and above a hundred bucks. A cool group hug/ politics commander would be a blast to play.
this deck tech fall in a weird place because of the consistency and similarities with the precon. I give it the edge for have vivien, primordial mist, whisperwood elemental and wilderness reclamation to try to compensate the lack of seedborn muse, but the manabase is a little behind. It's a deck that can stall a game with ease, i would like to sugest villainous wealth, it's amazing in this deck (you can build your mana with the amount of ramp you have and the way the deck plays tends to slow down the game a bit, so you have good windows for villainous wealth)
A neat trick you can add to the deck is sudden substitution with biomass mutation. Cast biomass for 0 and retain priority casting sudden substitution. You’ll take control of one creature from of your opponents and kill the rest of his/her creatures. Then people will hate you. Meh
Did the pickles lock today with this deck (thanks to Mitch) after work in my play group. Felt pretty mean but awesome at the same time. Needless to say I won but it was still a good game.
Not sure how it works but does Vesuvan Shapeshifter really get to use Brine Elemental's ability when he flips up targetting it? Won't that be ineffective because Vesuvan Shapeshifter already flipped before he copies the elemental? Or am I missing something...
I really honestly want to see what our main man Mitch could do with Baral, Chief of Counterspells using this format. Does that make me a bad person? XD
The morph commander precon was pretty disappointing for me. I already had a morph commander list with Ezuri, and the majority of the morph deck doesn't really add anything new to the archetype. A better morph commander that was recently printed in my opinion is Chulane. White is a better option for morph support over black, primarily for Mastery of the Unseen. Check out my deck list for a good explanation of the archetype and playstyle here: tappedout.net/mtg-decks/morphzuri/ Note it hasn't been updated for a while, so cards like Ugin the ineffible, vivien, and primordial mist haven't been added yet.
I saw a combo in another video by Saffron Olive and I am gonna guess it is the same as this one: that raptor thing that returned from the graveyard, the dude that returned something from the graveyard to the field/hand (because I forgot which) and a green 2 cost enchantment that says pay G and sac a creature to reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature card. Put that into your hand and the rest in the bottom in any order.
I wish The commander's Quarters did deck techs for other formats. I understand Commander is the point of this channel, I just love how well the videos are put together. Always great content.
