Kaguya-sama Is a Perfect Anime 

i love ishigami as much as the next person but maaaaannn my guy miyuki doesnt get enough credit, dude literally puts everyone before himself in every situation and is an absolute chad for that stunt he pulled in the ending of season 3. Hell hes even the one that saved ishigami if we want to get down to it

You are spittin' straight facts, but you got one thing wrong: Kaguya-sama IS, in fact, DEEP. The mature themes it tackles are so sophisticatedly handled. It constructs three-dimensional models of the characters and we get to scrutinise them from multiple angles to see the full picture. This show is ultimately about how we should not judge a book by its cover, how we should take a deep breath, be patient, and try to understand all sides of the argument before recklessly jumping to conclusions. It puts on this front as a romantic comedy, but deep down it's actually a tour-de-force coming-of-age story that is also a full-fledged examination of deeply flawed teenagers struggling to come into their own when put in various emotionally challenging situations. It's a story about growing up and it does a remarkable job of showcasing its complexities. The dynamics and relationships between the characters are always rooted in something tangible and palpable, and that is what makes them so easy to root for. Throughout the show, we slowly peel off the layers to reveal that there is more than meets the eye. It has a seemingly endless desire to dive deeper into its full-bodied characters. It's genuine, it's relevant, it's resonant. This is a story that is utterly human. One that is able to speak dearly to us through all of its satirical endeavours.

Also, like… Kaguya *is* deep. It simply deals with it in the comedy genre. But that levity often gives it the cushioning it needs to deal with some very, if not depressing, distressing themes. Hayasaka's authenticity. Ishigami's hero complex. Kaguya and Miyuki's insecurities. It's not over the top, but it is amazingly deep. Aka consistently impresses me with just how ridiculously well done it is.

I agree this is literally the best adaptation ever while reading the manga I would wonder how they would adapt it and this adaptation absolutely blew me away.

10:11 something really interesting I found out after rewatching the whole series is that not only the first and third endings are connected but the story they are telling is "the tale of princess kaguya" as it would have played out if Miyuki and Kaguya were the main characters. In the third episode of s2 Miyuki mentions the story and how if it was him he would have drunk the elixir of immortality and would have gone to the moon to take princess kaguya back, well that's exactly what happens in the endings and I love it! They are so full of little details like that and I can't get enough of it. Honestly if you rewatch that episode and then the endings it gives everything a totally different meanings

Kaguya-Sama is the most complete package of an anime series I have seen in a minute. You summarized pretty much most of the main points of it's greatness, but even missed out on it's pacing and character development. Looking at how characters like Miyuki, Kaguya and Ishigami have grown into better persons over the course of the series has been such a wholesome journey to have witnessed for me. Heck! Even Miko Iino and Hayasaka have made progress here. Fujiwara is pretty much the only person who remains the same and we all know that's not gonna happen and for obvious reasons of being the ticking time bomb that she is

In my humble, and objectively correct, opinion, Kaguya-sama is clearly, demonstrably, and objectively, better than spy x familly. I think the love it gets is mostly from "shiny new thing" syndrome. When you actually compare the shows you see that kaguya does everything spy x family does better. It will have the same sort of internal monologue gag but while it will just be a cut and paste gag in spy x family in Kaguya it will have 5 more levels of reference, symbolism, character building, story development, and visual creativity. Ps. Spy x Family is still good, it's just that Kaguya is perfection. Also, how is it not deep? It one of the best more relatable character studies I've ever seen tackling character with deep insecurities and character flaws. Just the fact that this show made me go from "just confess, this is bs" to totally relating to why they both feel like they can't is amazing. "That is why I can't confess, If I confess I might fail, but if you confess your success rate would be 100%". oh god my heart.

I binged it all in two days or so and I can't stop thinking about it. I don't even watch romance anime! Reading the manga currently. Which is something I ONLY do with my favorite animes of ALL TIME. I'm too proud to admit it but if I continue to feel this way after the manga finishes I might have no choice.

i feel like the only criticisms of the show I've seen are people saying that its not "original" or "the romance doesn't progress" (which I honestly don't get). It completely nails every aspect of a romcom, with loveable side characters and main protagonists. Some people say that there is also a lot of "filler", when this is a slice of life anime. I'd say it is the best romcom anime of all time

A couple years ago I thought I had my definitive top 10 of anime series and that no other anime could enter that list, because the anime series that were in my too were so influential in my life that when I grew up I thought no other series could influence me that much again, after all, when you're an adult, your personality is already established, and it is hard for something to pass through that barrier, but Kaguya absolutely freakin proved me wrong. When I was in high school I had my first "Oh, so this what a director is for" moment when I saw the requiem scene from HxH, I was mesmerized at how they combined visuals, music and voice acting. When I watched Kaguya, I was blown away again by how good the direction was, and now I can't believe the manga is ending...

Spy x Family is really good, don't get me wrong. But I think it's a little overrated. IMO, Love is War is the greatest romance anime of all time.

The jokes are just people screaming obnoxiously and misunderstandings. Maby some jokes would have been funny is they would not have not been annoying. The umbrella scene would have been good if they did not use the AUAAGHH noise every 10 secs. Also chica is unfunny because all she is is the cute character that makes annoying noises, which is a trait every character has in this show, including the narrator. Everything that is supposed to enhance the supposed “comedy” makes it all the more unfunny as it is enhancing the unfunny. And if the joke is not that it’s straight up wired, like the train joke. It has nothing to do with anything and is just out of nowhere and weird. Or the panty preference joke which portrays shirogane as obnoxiously perverted. The characters are decent but not too special outside of the emo one, that plot is decent but not too outstanding, placing it as a 6/10. Btw the chicka dance sucks.

Something I love about love is war is unlike other romance anime shirogane and kaugya both and very good reasons to want the other person to confess. Shinomiya because she was never loved by her father so she wants kaicho to be the one to tell her. And as for shirogane because of the difference between the status of his and kaguya's family if she is the one to confess first he will feel equal to the girl who he loves. Aka akasaka is an amazing writer and his psychological writings are amazing really, it's no surprise Oshi no ko is also turning out to be a big hit mans on another level.

I'm re-watching kaguya sama and for the first time ever I enjoyed a re-watch more than I did the first time I watched it. Honestly it is just PERFECT. There are no other words to describe it. My #1 anime of all time and i'm probably gonna keep re-watching it for years.

Before, I had Kaguya-sama as my 7th fav. series of all time. After watching the season 3 episodes, it went from 7th all time...to 1st! 100% agreed Ishigami is the GOAT. But Hayasaka is best girl.

I'm a year late, but I wish the english dub was spoken about more. All of the actors and actresses their seemed to be just as passionate and had just as much if not more fun than the Japanese actors. The Narrator especially was unhinged and chaotic and I adored it

I am a massive fan of romance anime which is why I dislike kaguya-sama. kaguya-sama is funny don't get me wrong but it just isn't a romance, nothing ever progresses and doesn't give off the same feeling as a romance. The character interactions are always just the same thing repeated over and over again. If I get bored and want a laugh, kaguya-sama does the job but if I actually want to sit down and get invested in an anime kaguya-sama isn't it chief.

Pretty much late to this,since I just watched the anime. I loved the manga,so I decided to watch the adaptation.Its so sad they skipped some funny part and also the last i think 8-9 mangas . Besides that i couldnt get tired of it. Its just a master piece,you framed it really well.

besides all the relatable problems like that lonely summer in season 1, the characters are such likeable people not because of one specific character quirk or trait, every part about them is something to appreciate. shirogane is someone who always pushes himself to be the best possible person he can be. ishigami helps people without needing any gratification like a thank you, he just does it out of kindness. kaguya is not so likeable in terms of outside traits but her loneliness (family love, not seeing friends outside of school) is something a lot of people relate to. chica and ino i can’t really think of a lot of things other that they are great comedic relief although thats not to say they dont have their serious aspects, its just not as noticeable as the other three main characters

Can you kindly let me know a good selling point of this? I loved Oregairu first season, love gintama, Daily lives of high school boys, Grand Blue Dreaming, Saiki K, Barakamon, Welcome to NHK as reference. There are more but I am giving you a baseline for my comedic, romantic and slice of life taste.

This shows deserves to be the all-time best romance anime than any other animes especially the mid Horimiya. I know people enjoyed Horimiya but man, come on, how come you guys said Horimiya is better than Kaguya-sama? Tell me? It’s just a story about a couple at school and less comedy, boring OP & ED, and most of the scenes are sweet. People loves romantic moments but it become less enjoyable when it always involves romantic situation all the time. And, Kaguya-sama is the best romance to offer you guys with all of the elements which will make you guys enjoy this show even if you watch it again and again. Best OP & ED, perfect animation, best comedy all the time which never disappoints, perfect romantic situations, best past & backstory of every characters, perfect character development for all of them, Best VA & Narrator and many more which is so hard for me to include every each of them. It’s just to perfect. But some of them especially retard FMAB and Horimiya fandom just can’t accept this show to be the best anime ever to be aired which led them to give ridiculous rating just because they are insane and don’t want any other anime to surpass their fav anime. After this, we will see this fandom rate Solo Levelling which might have the biggest possibility to surpass FMAB and they will cry like babies and rate 1/10 to this anime. Such retard

I’ve watched it, and all I can say is that it’s an unbridled meh! At least for me, it’s predictable, unfunny, and boring. I can understand why people might like this, particularly teenagers, but to me, the only interesting bits of the show happen when we swap to being inside the minds of the characters. Yet without that or the narrator, the show becomes flat and uninteresting. I understand many people say it’s a show about mind games, but when the mind games are literally just two characters trying to figure out how to confess to each other, the whole mystery of the thing is kind of lost on you. We already know they like each other, now just confess to each other and move on already. It’s more aggravating to me than funny, because at least for me, I know what it’s like to let your school years pass you by without telling someone how you feel. But if you don’t do it soon, before you know it, you’ll both run out of time. And when you finally confess, it may not even be the answer you were looking for so… why delay the inevitable or spend the rest of your life wondering why you didn’t confess? This is the major problem I have with Rom Com Animes in general, not just Kaguya sama. It’s that when the confession finally happens the show is… already over! And sometimes it’s not even a matter of “and then they were boyfriend and girlfriend” and instead the show just… ends on the confession itself, leaving the viewers wondering if they ever did get together in the end. This kind of ending is truly one of the worst, but luckily Kaguya Sama doesn’t end on a “will they won’t they?” Type of ending like that, but it’s not necessarily far off from what I’ve described either. And it’s just feels like all that time the characters were “playing mind games” could’ve been better spent on more thoughtful character progression, and you know… funnier jokes… and less narrator monologuing for 3 minutes straight… Granted, I understand the inner thoughts of the characters and narrator are part of the identity of the show, but even understanding this it doesn’t make them anymore interesting to me since no character progression comes out of it. Every conflict in the show could literally be resolved by the words “hey, you want to go out with me?” Which is exactly what happens in its final 3 episodes… and it took three seasons of around 36 episodes to get to that point. :/ I will say that inspite the shows flaws, I still enjoyed my time with the third season far more than any of the other two BECAUSE stuff was ACTUALLY happening, and character relationships and dynamics DO shift. But really, at least on my metric, the bar was not set very high in the first place. Oveeall, I would say the first season is a 6/10 while the second season is a 6.5. And the final season is the best one at a 7/10. I know a lot of people will disagree with this opinion vehimately, and that’s fine. Don’t let me spoil your good time. But to say this is a 10/10 masterpiece I think is a bit of a stretch. It a very predictable anime that leans heavily into tropes that while probably interest some fans, doesn’t click with others. And when all is said and done the shows jokes and screenwriting can be very hit or miss as well. I liked the dynamic of Chica and the President the most, and yet despite that they only have about 3 episodes dedicated to them really jiving off each other, and the rest of the time is spent having Chica act as the foil to Kaguya and the presidents dynamic - slowing down their already slow progressing relationship. Pacing is the shows biggest weak point in this regard, because while the nature of most episodes is fairly episodic, it doesn’t feel like much changes from episode to episode enough to the show engaging to watch for long periods of time. Overall, 6.5/10

Just re-watched it again recently.... The only show which is genuinely funny, unlike many other 'rom-COMS' I've watched (specially talking about the dub), the characters are lovable and have depth + not a single annoying character like in most other shows. The story is great and genuinely entertaining with zero to no cringe moments. The only show that's for me is at par with oregairu. I'd actually prefer less people knowing about this, like to gatekeep such shows.

This anime/manga singlehandedly made my bar so high that I was unable to find any other anime/manga enjoyable. It's THAT good.

kaguya sama is for rom com what yugioh or dr stone are for battle shonnen, a new and interesting method of progresing the plot and resolving conflict which isnt the generic stereotipical aproach used by the others in the ganre

I VERY RARELY buy Blu-Rays. I was never so quick to unashamedly spend hundreds on the Blu-Rays of all 3 seasons of this series and preorder a ticket for the movie back in April 2023. This series is so worth it and then some

I lived through this and I have to say, this is accurate except for the pride thing. It’s more that you don’t want to be the one to ruin the friendship. It’s actually fun as shit. I actually used the texting trick in episode 4 even though I hadn’t seen the anime or manga yet. In episode 6 they did a love test thing and I also absolutely fucking locked on for every question that could have anything to do with it. Plus I also have Palmer hyperhidrosis. That part isn’t really important to the story in both.

Ok the anime is not a perfect adaptation of the manga and BY FAR! The manga is so much better than the anime.

The ONE and only thing i have to say is the movie’s pacing. It goes to about chapter 160 but many parts are skipped between it

i personally think kaguya sama is amazing. the charcter development, the plot, the comedy everything its really good. but theres just one thing that always makes me rate an anime low. and thats the fan service. i rated horimiya higher than kaguya sama for that sole reason. it had less fan service. aside from that the romance (in my humble opinion) was very very very very very cute and i loved that you got to see hori and miyamuras relationship develop as it did even tho they were together. however in kaguya sama you got to see the relationship before they got together. and i love those types of romances. their first interaction, the way they solely developed their feelings, all the comedic interactions. they were great. but if you look at the other charcters there was just too much fan service for me. and that a given with every romance but it just throws me off whenever theres too much.

Rewatch the show with Dub if anyone has never got to experience the english narrator and characters. They are S tier
