One. of. the. best. surfers. ever. I love ppl like Kai and Laird, so chill but takes their job so seriously. And they know when and how to have fun. Thank you for doing this, Rich! If you guys haven't seen the Life of Kai series, go watch it.
To the non-wave riders that love sports you all just witnessed through this interview what riding waves really is like. There are no referees or guidelines it’s just you your friends and the power of nature. The reward is the beauty of colors light plays on the waters edge. This interview is the perfect example how surfing really isn’t a sport. It’s so much more than a net a ball or stats. It’s a date with nature and pushing the primal instinct to hunt search and score.
Another outstanding podcast! I once met Kai when I lived on Maui and I can say he is super humble and friendly. Just a great human. Keep it up Rich! Keep up the insane surfing Kai!
Wow! What an inspiring, brilliant soul. I LOVE Kai's perspectives on everything and learned so much from watching this. A true "Modern day explorer" .. Great description. So thankful to come across this awesome interview . Thank you both ❤❤❤
I feel like surface level he seems to just have that simple, laid back, carefree, good vibes only, blissfully naive, air head, west coast, no shoes + no shirt = no worries, surfer dude, one dimensional mentality when in reality he is actually quite a deep thinker.... he just lacks the super pretentious vernacular of a stereotypical philosophically minded intellect. Lol and that's way more radical anyway
I would like to see an interview with his parents. What was family life like, bringing up champion surfers and athletes? What is it like being the mother of somebody who is surfing 80 foot waves? I don’t know if I’d ever sleep again.
Solid stuff and very inspirational, especially for an older/newer surfer who loves all things about the ocean but also see's how it relevant to the business world.
Absolutely awesomely awesome. Kai's at peak form (i.e., skills, strength, mindset). How long can he maintain this incredible form? Pro cyclists max 10 y, maybe, for the 3 sigma wonders like Mark Cavendish.
Oh you mean kickflip on a 40-foot drop-in this guy Unstoppable and just a nice person all the way around as it should be I mean I used to do some crazy s*** when I was young nothing like what this guy does it's truly amazing okay I've said it before I'll say it again you're doing the right thing don't stop keep charging Full Speed Ahead
Apart from the death aspect of it, the choppy feeling of going over water that fast and clapping over chop isn’t appealing. Kite surfing lost its appeal for that reason, it stops being a flowing smooth thing…not that I could ever ride waves like this, but even at double over head it can feel like slapping your way on top of the water
In this interview we have opportunity learn how this nobble and great meta-man, a planet saviour, a world saviour, Mark Zuckerberg flies just to surf for one day.
