Ohranger is a very interesting case. I honestly do like it. But with how Gokaiger made a show at the aftermath of their recent earthquake to bring smiles to viewers, OhRanger had to do that in the middle of its run.

Ohranger was supposed to be a darker Sentai like Jetman. However, thanks to two tragedies happened in Japan in 1995, this show was completely overhauled to a light-hearted show after the first five episodes.

i found something really shocking, the ranger equivalent of Queen Hysteria was voiced by Lois Griffin

Ohranger definitely could have been amazing if not for those 2 incidents. It just unfortunate that real world events can cause thing to change in television good or bad

Ohranger certainly had a lot of potential such as the military aspect and the full scale invasion and the high stakes at the beginning but the tragic events that occurred in Japan at the time was what wasted it. I'm extremely curious as to what Ohranger could've been if those events never happened.

Imagine if Carranger and Ohranger switched production dates. Ohranger would be a dark Sentai series just like it was originally supposed to be, and Carranger wouldn't change that much.

I definitely agree the tone consistency in Sentai is off the charts but the theme song is kick ass and super catchy

How would you feel if Kakuranger vs Dairanger was the first versus film to come out in a long time since Goranger vs J.A.K.Q ?

I actually found something about Gunmajin that could explain his behavior. See one of the latter writers was the same one that wrote that Genie episode of Zyuranger. See he had a completely vision of how a genie is supposed to be but the writers of that show had him change it to a more traditional way. With Gunmajin the writer finally had a chance to bring his vision to life and that is what you see now.

Ohranger started with some interesting callbacks to previous sentai - the use of technology from ancient civilizations feels a bit like Goggle V, the military aspects feel like Jetman, Changeman and Gorenger and the animal shaped mecha are reminiscent of more recent sentai such as Liveman, Zyuranger, Dairanger and Kakuranger. The originally unintended swings of atmosphere from serious to silly and back feel like JAKQ, although that only had one swing and delved so deep into ridiculousness I can't think of an episode of Ohranger which outdoes it. I understand Ohranger was intended to be an anniversary season, based more on its release year than on its place in the overall metaseries as later anniversary seasons were timed. To begin with, there was almost no sense of fun, and this may have been to the show's detriment had they stuck with the same style of storytelling, but not as bad as the end product. The crossover with Kakuranger felt like a regular Ohranger episode with the Kakurangers making an appearance in the third act. I guess this was an improvement over the Super Sentai World crossover where the previous four teams show up, but only in costume. The Kakurangers summoning one or more of their robos would have been useful too. Red Puncher's intro feels like a callback to Galaxy Robo from Maskman, which was cool. Oh well. Maybe Carranger will be an improvement. Perhaps...

One weird thing is how Toei usually changes some words in their names. Pandora to Bandora (she was basically in Pandora's Box when it was opened, also western mythology in Zyuranger) and Paranoia to Baranoia (easy to guess because of Queen Hysteria).

Buldont’s actor returned with Rysoulger as the equipment and Gaisgor. I hope I said that name right.

I dont mind if the rangers dont develop if their personalities are awesome and lively enough like the Dekaranger or Gokaiger team. But sadly, Ohranger doesn't fall into that category.

Wonder if Ohranger's retool has something to do with it only having 48 episodes and Kakuranger having 53 instead of the usual 50. Like how Flashman's issues caused Changeman to be extended.

Imagine if Riki is Riki from Riki-Oh. Would he be Riki-Ohranger? One thing is for certain, the series would have been a blood bath if the opponents weren't machines so maybe oil bath.

If the two tragedies never happened that make the plot changed, Ohranger could be one of my favourite sentai series. The earlier episodes of this show were amazing. But I still managed to watched this series until finished because of the cool Ohranger suits, zords and their ancient concept theme even though the plot was getting boring.

Watching it right now and from the looks of it, episode 9 is where the tonal shift began. Granted the stake was still high enough to have some tension going on but Juri's fake betrayal is pretty obvious for anyone with a common sense and you can kind of tell she was trying to drop Momo some hints when she said that she didn't even get to eat fugu yet. That's where you get to see some goofy dialogues even outside of the fake betrayal, as well as how the episode began with something out of a shoujo comedy series and it's also where the writers finally decided what Shouhei's personality will be. Basically he became a Polnareff or Little Kuriboh's interpretation of Tristan Taylor. I mean the guy's focus episode that came after doesn't help and that's where it really did went full blown goofy. Speaking of which, imagine Bara Printer meeting Captain Kirk and tell him to fall in love with a spaceship. Kirk: Jokes on you, I already did...and she's dead (Star Trek 3). Bara Printer: O_O

I just finished watching Ohranger and GOD that was a chore! It was okay but honestly, I’m glad I finally finished the series.

I will definitely need to check this one out for myself. To be honest a 3 is good enough for me. While I can see it's flaws I think I'll have a good time if I try to enjoy it for what it is if that makes sense.

At least it’s understandable why the show suffered the problems as it did as well why the show’s tone kept changing with that understanding and toy sales kept the series from getting canceled.

When it comes to this season I think it's okay for the most part. But there's one thing I have to say about Ohrangers sole movie. There was a series I watched here on RU-vid before Toei flagged it for copyright but it was called "A WTF MOMENT IN TOKU" and Ohrangers movie had a 15 minute video for it's movie WTF moments and man I couldn't understand what they were going for. But since it was double billed with B-Fighters movie I've said that B-Fighters movie was better. But when it comes to the team up of coarse it's canon seeing as how all the team ups after it work with how it goes into Gokaiger. But I'm going to have to say that it first takes place in 1999 but as it goes on 1995 is just dumb. Also the yokai in the team up movie freaks me out and it's funny what you played with it's scene.

Riki was played by Shoji Yamaguchi, not Hisashi Sekai (Ko from Dairanger). Also, in Riki's debut, he was dubbed over by Boi's actor Takumi Hashimoto but all of his other appearances kept Yamaguchi's voice.

Honestly if I thought the baby episode from power rangers Zeo was annoying I can't even seem to begin to think how it was handle it in the Sentai one

Everyone always says Power Rangers timeline a mess yet Ohranger claims it takes place in 1999 which means they would of been active the same year GoGoV is happening. Making it not possible for the Carrangers to team up with them.

I liked the series it dose not deserve the hate the things it gets blamed for are not its fault when they were serious it was cool it had a lot of good moments

I liked a lot of the monsters they were pretty interesting and some of the villains to. But I have issues with Emperor Bacchus Wrath's costume.

It wuold have been cool that some of the original inabithants from the baranoia planet (the ones before the robots invaded that planet) appeared in one episode

For the 3 missing kakurangers in the vs movie. Are you sure it’s actually them with the limited amount of screen time? I can only recognized blue from the quality of the footage. Isn’t it weird to have them back for just 2 scenes cameo? Btw, V3 actor is captain in so many series from one of the metal hero trilogy to Jakq and ohranger.,

Lots of familiar voices in this one. I tend to think Ohranger had potential to be better if not for the terrorist bombing, and all the real life events, that influenced it during its run.

I have been working on my own version of Ohranger had it kept its darker and gritty tone and went through with its original premise. I figured if I’m not happy with how the show turned out after episode 8, then why not rewrite it myself? I fleshed out the Ohrangers and cut all of the silly filler.

This show is a pretty odd one. On one hand I enjoyed the first 24 episodes but the moment KingRanger was introduced my investment was pretty much gone. If I had to rate it I’d probably give it like a 2-2.5/5 guis for me. My favorite episode was the one with Momo and the baranoia monster that looked like a pirate.

OhPink's actress was very high maintenance towards TOEI behind curtains.

I like the simple explanation joke for the black to green colour change, it's minor and doesn't need an answer, since some teams have green and some have black for no real reason. For anything bigger, it's a cop out and just give us an answer and move on.

I'm almost finoshed with megaranger and i started the first episode of ohranger and man from what i seen with the foot soldiers they're vicious and brutal.

I see random stuff in Ohranger Second half of the show like people in love with Refrigerators or a episode of dancing megazords or a Pirate theme episode and the king /gold ranger actor is a little kid

This series is a touch schizo... But still enjoyable. Its just a shame the serious narrative of the first few episodes is temporarily abandoned after ten episodes and then picked up again, for the most part, throughout the rest of the series. It has an intriguing mythos, and it is still entertaining, I just wish it had a more consistent tone.

yeah i just finished watching Ohranger its a 3 out 5 from me dont get me wrong i really enjoyed it but there were faults what they should have do is stuck with the original theme for the first few eps to make it a dark sentai series but have few good laughs within in it and development for both heroe's and villains

Riki is actually the oldest Super Sentai Hero as he is over 600 million years old. The only one who is older than him is Grand Witch Grandiene, who is 6 billion years old

For me, the show started to lose steam around the Red Puncher arc. It starts with Ohranger Robo (I will shorten it’s name to Ohre Robo for simplicity sake from here on out) being badly damage and the team needs a temporary replacement just until it’s repaired again. The commander informs them about Ohre Robo’s prototype, Red Puncher, a solo robot that was the test bed to Choriki technology. A soldier took it to battle baranoia’s jets but crashed the giant boxer robot and died. Now where the issue with it? Red Puncher is depicted as resisting commands, suggesting it has AI, but after this arc it’s AI or any level of sentience is never talked about again, Ohre Robo and Oh Blocker also lack any AI or sentience, only Tackle Boy has AI, one smart enough to follow orders. When you think about this, you realize that the original pilot died for either 2 reasons: 1, he’s a bad pilot. Or 2, he’s an idiot, maybe both. Wouldn’t it make more sense for Red Puncher, being a experimental prototype, just plain malfunctioned and crashed because it was flawed? For OhRed’s first battle with it, have it explained that some of it’s flaws were ironed out, but Red is not used to solo piloting and he struggles, but the chief intercoms him to give him pointers. For the Buster Ohre Robo episode, instead of a chip just randomly flying off Red Puncher (RP showed now external damage after it was re-activated) have so that the combination code was left incomplete after Red Puncher crashed, and they need to find the remaining code with the family of the guy who programmed Red Puncher before the incident. This way we wouldn’t have to deal with an annoying kid and his talking mini computer

This is the one that caused Sugimura Make like a tree and leave Toei for Good and head to Capcom to spend the rest of his life until his untimely passing. He did not like his work being tampered with, although everything was not a loss It sure left a tone deaf series by its end made Super Sentai into kind of a joke ratings wise and would take two years fix. Oh it was pulling in sales thanks to thanks to the highly articulated combination Robots, finishing weapons, auxiliary Mecha, and Genie. Although Carranger did less money It was still successful. They did went back to darker tones after 1997 although they did start having continuous stories in that year. B- Fighter, the sequel, as well as a comeback from an old friend from the land of light manage to kick the butt of Super Sentai ratings wise.
