I believe this is the first time I've personally seen you give something a 1 star but it's well deserved (I cringe at the thought of a turtle monster impregnating a woman, same way I did with a monster impregnating Green Rhino in Liveman). When it comes to the Showa Riders I love 71-Amazon but I've just never bothered with Stronger-Super 1 because it just seemed like the bloom was off the rose at that point with the classic riders, but of course I LOVED Black and HATED what they did to him with RX. Also I have to once again give you all the credit for helping me to appreciate some of the 2000 and onward Rider series, before I only cared for the classics as I initially hated how newer Kamen Riders felt more like Metal Heroes but your reviews convinced me to give them a look. I'm loving Kuuga (dying to watch Agito too), even though you haven't reviewed it yet I'm liking Ryuki, I'd like to give Blade a look, and Zero One is just so much fun so far (gimmicks are always hit and miss for me but I'm loving it so far). Thank you.
Glad to hear you have been enjoying Kuuga and Zero-One. Stronger is definitely worth checking out if you liked the older stuff. I really liked Jo and his dynamic with Tackle was great.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork With Stronger I like his enemies Black Satan and the Delza Army, and I also like how he teams with the other Riders because in that case it all makes sense with Tachibana connecting them. My main issue with Stronger is Jo himself, he just looks too goofy compared to the other Riders, and I am someone who loves almost anything inspired by a kabutomushi.
Really wish that a future Kamen Rider series today where we finally have the main Rider primary ability is flight. I think to do that, a Kamen Rider series' motif should be about airplanes and other flying vehicles like helicopters.
I find it funny that while the show wasn't among the franchise's biggest hits, Skyrider's actor would end up having a more successful post-Rider career than many of his Showa contemporaries, becoming a highly sought actor in TV dramas particularly historicals, Jidaigeki and police procedurals.
I think why skyrider was so all over the place was because they started Ryder back up from that point had to re establish a new formula for Ryder that’s my best guess but I still love it especially the transformation scenes
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork hey sir may I ask when you bought that old classic Rider from the Showa era is it just overtime English subtitled on the DVD? I was planning on getting them on all DVD since the old Riders from the Showa and other Super Heroes Time I really am curious if their subtitles are not overtime English subtitled because I like to get the TV Nihon English subtitled on each and the 2000s since I know the oldest ones from the classic are and will be hard to get. Hope my questions are not hard for you to answer them back about if I am or might plan buying them on DVD and wondering if the English subtitled on any from Japan and other Asia regions
From what I heard Tachibana was going to be in this show but he refused, probably because he felt it was time to move on so they got the other guy in there. Would’ve been interesting to see those two together.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork The first half of super 1 was good but once the new Villains come into the 2nd half, their evil schemes sounds to sentai Villains plots. You think Gangan G was bad, there is this small boy in the rider kids gang who is so stupid that he deserves to get killed by the monsters.
From the look of the thumbnail, I got.a feeling Kaiju no likey Skyrider. I watched some of it when I was downloading the fabsubs and I got no problem with it. I haven't given it a thorough look see yet, but I'm looking forward to this review.
Lol the bit at 22 minutes in had me in a good laughing fit~ good to be catching up on these reviews again now that I got my black and RX blurays and am finally getting into a full show proper. Also bought that Hawaii V3 DVD before they closed shop...
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Generation Kikaida? Yeah they did and had a fire sale for like 3 weeks before everything sold out: covid did a toll on their business sadly
I was hoping for some advice. Even though I’m already seven seasons into the heisei era, I’ve been thinking about restarting the series and super sentai with Kamen Rider ichigou and himitsu sentai gorenger as someone who I’m assuming did that, do you think that’s a good idea or should I wait until I reach gotchard and then start over while watching it?
I say do whichever you want. The first series can be overwhelming given one is 98 episodes and the other is 84, but I think they are both solid series.
I absolutely loved GanGan G, he wanted to help no matter what, and he never gave up no matter what, he might’ve been stupid but in the finale he wants to join in with the 8 riders and it’s heart warming l.
I can say is no matter what you think of him and despite his bumbling at times, his heart was in the right place and it seemed he wanted to help others. He even returns in thr Spirts Manga.
Hey kaiju no kami I’m trying get into Kamen rider I’ve only seen the original and I’m 30 episodes in v3 I wanted to know what Kamen rider series you would recommend me to check out from each decade
Man. The cheerleader squad of this series makes the Tachibana Racing Club look interesting. Though to be honest, I actually liked a few of them. Mainly Goro, his sister Yuri, and Emi.
I don't know if you are aware, there is this anime series -Kaijin Kaihatsu-bu no Kuroitsu-san or Miss Kuroitsu of the Monster Development Team which is a comedy and paying homage to sentai and riders evil organisation where every episode is the Development team trying to create a monster with a limited budget and often failed results. I am actually surprised that the show managed to get Well Known tokusatsu actors to voice the narration like Skyrider's actor, Jiban's actor, Ohred's actor and even Dan Moroboshi. The show is also about the real-life local heroes in Japan who appeared and oddly enough, despite being an evil organisation, the various generals actually take care of the workers below unlike the real-life "Black company" in Japan. The show has just ended with 12 episodes.
Yep, I've watched all 12 episodes. It was a fun series with a lot of great homages to Toku shows. The last episode was great, especially when the henshin device required an update to detransform.
Another nice video of the Kamen Rider series. I watched Skyrider sometime ago. The show was intended as a revival of the original 1971 Kamen Rider, going back to the basics and essential themes in the show in a similar way like the Return of Ultraman for example. The reason for the four year hiatus was due running out of ideas, Tokusatsu genre was waning a bit during the mid 1970’s, Super Sentai series getting a great foothold and ratings and the Japanese cinema crash around between mid 1970’s (eventually it recovered by 1979). Skyrider was a decent entry. Mr. Kaiju no Kami, I have a few questions to ask about the Rider series and Super Sentai, please excuse me if this has been asked already. 1. With Rider series dvds coming out, will Shout Factory down the line release the Showa era Riders? LikeBlack, Amazon, Stronger and the first Kamen Rider for example. 2. Are you going do another video update on what’s going on between Shout Factory and Hasbro over the future releases of the Super Sentai DVD’s? 3. Has there been any word or mentions addressing on getting the Sentai DVD’s back to resume releases starting with Fiveman for example?
1. No idea. Shout! said the sales of Zero-One will determine if they release more on video and so far they haven't announced anything new yet. I would assume they would at least do the ones they already licensed for streaming. 2. There's nothing to really talk about on that front at this time. 3. Not at this time.
15:40 General Monster: We at Neo Shocker are equal opportunity terrorists we terrorize everybody equally pets, men, women, and children you name it we wreck it.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork in fact originally the Ninth Kamen Rider originally known as V9 was supposed to appear along with the Riders. But because the return of the Riders was such a hit that they decided to hold off on him and eventually gave him his own show where became Super-1.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork every episode Hayato Ichimonji was in. He is one of my all time favorites! And the episode with Hiroshi and his father (52).. the final episodes were banger too
It's funny you mention that because when I review Hibiki I was going to talk about how similar the situation is between the two show's when it comes to production issues.
Wow a 1! Last thing I ever remembered hearing you give that to was Go-Onger and Ultraseven X. This show unsubbed seemed fun but really really stupid so I kinda understand lol.
I actually had recorded two different endings for this review because I was unsure if I wanted to give it a 1 or a 2, but as I was working on the review I realized that it really did deserve its 1.
I don’t really have anything to say here so……… here’s this Let's Go! Tobe, Tobe, Takaku Sora wo yuke Sailing Janpu: Asu he tobe Moero Henshin Inochigake Onore wo kaete tsuppashire Fumetsu no Raidā Kamen Raidā Tatakai no toki wa ima tatakai no toki ga kita Moero Janpu! @@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Who do you think was the better general? I preferred General Monster caused there were moments he went out into the field and did stuff then just give orders! Also he had a cool voice
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Saban Masked Rider has a scene of the previous riders introducing themselves and Skyrider introduce himself as "I am Amazon!" (It became sort of a meme) Everyone was given the wrong names and poor Riderman was left out. You can find the scene on RU-vid.
@@AyaC oh my glob, I remember that scene! That was insane, cuz I'm.pretty sure one of them called themselves Riderman and it wasn't actually Riderman! Lol
watching it for the first time, I could notice many basic elements that they rescued from the first season, right at the beginning of it, which is the intense dramatic load and several serious moments in the plot Just like Ichigo did from episode 1-12. It's even funny to see that the two took the same course throughout the story, the "infantilization" and lighter vibe
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork most Kamen Rider fans agree that half of Hibiki is better than the rest... Their is just a debate going on wether the first or second half is better
Nah, there is no doubt the first half is way better than the second. The second brings in Kiriya, tosses Akira to the wayside, gets rid of the threat level of the Douji and Hime, turns the Makamou into generic monsters, removes all of the filters, black screens of text, interesting camera angles, etc, and pisses all over what was established in the first two thirds of teh show.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Blame the higher ups for changing the staff halfway through the season due to lack of ratings. The Finale had its script changed multiple times and the final version was delivered the day of filming. Also Asumu was supposed to become an oni in the finale but the final script had only Kiriya become a rider and parts of Asumu's suit was added to Kiriya's to make it "look better*
To be honest, some weird gonzo comedy about a dipshit, who is terrible at fighting, recklessly charging into every evil base and lair and constantly exasperating and ruining the plans of the hyper-competent Ishinomori-style justice man sounds like it'd be really funny in the hands of a proper writer. Like a Don Quixote kind of thing where everybody hates him or thinks he's crazy but he's oblivious.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork from the movie. The armadillo kaijin riding on a tank opened fire on skyrider. Stronger and Amazon joined in the fight and Skyrider delivered the finishing blow. Its awesome XD
I just got done watching the original series. And I'm gonna sound woke for saying this but it sounds like the problem the ladies of the original series have are the same ones the ladies of this series. Just sorta being around not doing anything and being largely interchangeable with one another. Being a woman among Kamen Rider's secondary cast kinda sucked back in the Showa era apparently. Also I'm a little surprised tracks from the original show continued to be used as far as Skyrider.
I can give leeway to the cheerleader squad in the original show because it was the original and they were trying things out for the first time, but not for the sixth entry, especially after Stronger's evolution with Tackle.
You know i'm not really much of a showa guy myself despite there's a few I kinda wanna watch but wow Skyrider not really good I mean I know the ratings were low but honestly I think I'm gonna avoid this one cause it seems to be not my interest
They still would have needed some sort of origin story because I hated him before I learned he was a dude in a suit. I actually thought he was a samurai kappa robot.
I’m not usually big on the insert songs throughout the franchise, but I think Skyrider has possibly the worst selection of inserts in the franchise by virtue of either nothing standing out or just straight up sounding like nails on a chalkboard. Also General Monster was more or less a recycled version of the first general from the ‘71 show.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork the difference is that the guy in the ‘71 show is played by an actor who doesn’t sound like he’s constipated with every line of dialogue
FX 777 only does is send the monsters and let them die and what does he do ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOTHING!!! In my opinion this is the worst Kamen rider general I have ever seen.
@@saiyaujeff8171 You do know that saying something or someone "Is the shit" means that they're awesome, right? If what you meant is that they're shit, then is just that without "the".
This is the most empty KR series I've seen yet 😠🙄 It has everything that you could hate about a KR show in it bad main character bad villains bad theme song and boring fights unless it's your mission to watch every single Kamen rider series then don't watch it I'm give it 1 spandex big super hero along with a 1.0 rating
