Definitely & this channel is just for travel nurses . I’m a travel anesthesia technician & but his channel had helped me out so much . Honestly anyone in their 20s doing healthcare is really missing out not doing contract healthcare …the right contract …can put you in the right place financially as long as you work hard . In one year I upgraded my vehicle . Saved 2 emergency funds and increased my stock portfolio positions , next purchase is a house as soon as I clean up my credit before traveling I was in the 500s now I’m in the 690 range . If you’re young , single , & are flexible traveling is the way to go , didn’t even know it was a thing until covid happened

That’s an awesome story! If nurses can adapt and work in different settings this is a very lucrative move . I work for City and County as a RN staff nurse 2 my rate was $56/hr and now finally making $90/hr plus 20% night diff. 12 hr shifts. And also 2% hazard pay as well. I have a family and pay $47 biweekly for health insurance, $20 for vision, $20 for dental-all incredibly affordable. Also contribute to 401k and we have a pension as well, I’ve already contributed over $150k in that account. I started in skilled nursing and now doing corrections, I was scared to make the move but I’m happy I did. Keep up the amazing work on this channel 🙌🏼

@@amahlcotterell3717 I sure would but the education barrier to entry is soo much! The pay is not as high as nursing but on average you’re not limited to just California for the best pay. Most of the guys I work with who finished the pay scale make 170k, I’m still two steps from it. From what I hear I make a lot without the effort, most of my job is a 60/40 split of work. Work 4-5 hours get paid for the ten. I definitely would of been a nurse if airplanes wasn’t my passion 😩😭

Good dialogue Jason. I think a lot of nurses r afraid 2 leave their bad situations out of comfort. I've met many nurses who say they do not like change. I encourage new nurses not 2 get complacent n any position n nursing. It's so vast & u can do so much. Do not limit urself n a career where u have so many opportunities. It may not b easy, but it's possible.
@conniesaratoga3194
@conniesaratoga3194 10 месяцев назад
Yes, but if every nurse moves to the few high paying states, that would be catastrophic for all the states with no nurses then plus the field would be flooded and bring down the pay rate quickly for the nurses in the high paying states! So we need to force all low paying states to raise their pay rates, probably by unionizing, so they can also force better patient care ratio regulations! Watching his videos is informative, but also frustrating for other nurses who can't just up and move and so are being taken advantage of, especially in states like Florida, where she lives, where cost of living has skyrocketed, but pay sucks!
@mistermilkman
@mistermilkman 10 месяцев назад
@@conniesaratoga3194 I'm not implying every nurse 2 move anywhere. I'm speaking also 2 nurses who r afraid 2 leave their units & specialties. I've seen nurses constantly complain about a unit like it was the only unit on the planet. I just think 4 nursing 2 b so broad, some nurses act like there is nowhere 2 go. Sometimes we outgrow our units & need 2 move on. As far as low cost areas, getting more money is challenging when the budget is set up 4 those wages. When I was FT, nurses would call out when we were properly staffed, making the unit short. When ur dealing with people, it's always complex. I totally agree that nursing n general should pay more, but n reality, they refuse 2 pay n most places. Hospitals get a tax credit 4 travelers & don't have 2 worry about benefits. It sucks, but it's real. U have 2 do what is best 4 u. Staff nurses being angry @ travelers isn't the solution.

I went from staff making $48/hr to per diem and I still contribute to my 401k & be part of the union. Now, I max out my Roth IRA, I now make between $75-$105 AN hour in NYC with float differential/weekend differential/ OT with some PTO. Unfortunately, we don't get time 1/2 after 8 hours. My hospital as its private, will get penalize and fine it we go over our ratios and will have to pay out the nurses, so they have been very good with complying. I have 2 per diem jobs and my income has increased a lot, and we still have another 10% raise in the next 2 years. I am investing the income difference to also have enough real estate to allow me to retire early- THAT'S MY PENSION, as that's the questions my coworkers always ask me. Work smarter, not harder! I am in control of my own schedule- that's priceless!

Very much appreciate the topic of the video. Along the same lines of the topic of this video, I have a video topic request, (if it is feasible, of course). I've saw a couple videos of nurse's acting as their own agency, (if this makes sense. They had an LLC, and negotiate d as their one man agency, on behalf of themselves. They were really able to well financially. I was really curious to at least generally know a little bit more depth on this. One of the nurses that did this provided depth via one of courses, but it was I believe in the ballpark of $1,200. I'm in the process of saving up for an ABSN degrees, (last 2 prereq classes this upcoming fall semester), transitioning from the Physical Therapy field, and I'm trying my best to save for ABSN school and it's upcoming $1,700 per credit hour, tuition.

As a regular staff NY Adult ED RN… New York may never change sorry girl. They are supposed to give us “ratios” by 2024 for NYSNA Union nurses but there is no penalty if they violate the ratios. So I felt like the strike was for nothing. But I guess we shall see and suffer with unsafe ratios till then. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I have another question for you! I am moving to Sacramento next year, and I only have an associates degree, do you think I should get my bachelor’s degree before moving there? Will I have better chances of getting a job in a hospital, such as the one you work at? Also, do union hospitals offer tuition assistance?

I remember Jason saying a BSN was not necessary to apply, but might be wrong. I just dont want to have to pay all that money out of pocket if I can wait to get it once I move.

You can get a job in a non-academic hospital with an associates degree, then go to school for your BSN once you get the job so your employer can help pay for your BSN degree.

Are Kaiser or UC Davis non academic?

Kaiser is trying to go magnet. Oakland just achieved magnet status and Roseville is actively trying. I think if you move here with ADN and experience you will have no problem finding a job. If you come as new grad might have harder time with just ADN

To be honest, hospitals would be able to retain there staff if there pay was competitive and a main way of doing this is to cut the fat. Fat by the way of overpaid management and administration, which is NOT the reason the patients are there. Patients will come back routinely if they received GREAT care which comes from the care givers, not by the hospital administrators and the excess management. There is a HUGE amount of wasted, unnecessary cost in the healthcare system.
