This was a great film with an interesting story. So painfully awkward yet beautifully captures the trauma of a girl caught under the circumstances of her world. Gina was a pure light and this film was thoroughly enjoyable despite these deeply flawed characters. Great direction.
What a unique and compelling story! I'm definitely watching. Evan is extremely talented and has the ability to capture the audience and make every character she portrays her own. Don't judge a movie by a trailer, this girl knows what she is doing when choosing to bring a project to life. I'm sure it will be great.
This movie is going to be ground breaking and people don’t see it. It looks like a beautiful fucking movie that hits the topics that really... hit right for me. The visuals of the symbolism, the costumes, the set, the story... nobody can take this gorgeous movie and turn it into something negative because it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a beautiful, powerful movie in a long ass time. And we need more powerful visually stimulating well put together movies.
This is sooooooo far out there. I'm going to stay up for 22 hours straight, eat a weed cookie, cuddle in my blankets and then press play when I watch this movie. It will be the best movie experience EVER. I can't wait. It's how I watch all Wes Anderson films and this one gives me the same "out there vibes" so sounds like a good plan to me.
would you ask that of a person who actually speaks like that in real life? It might be a creative decision to speak that way but not everyone on earth talks quote/unquote normal so why represent everyone in film that way?
Ok, my prediction: Gina Rodriguez's character wants to be part of this family of hustlers because she thinks that lifestyle is "cool". The family clearly wants something from her because they are conning her. Nothing we haven't seen in the trailer... but here comes the twist, she is also a hustler and for some reason she wants to separate the daughter from the parents exploiting their weaknesses as a family. Probably because she is looking for a partner in crime and she knows that Evan Rachel Wood's character is good at what she does.
Ehhhhh having read quite a few Miranda July stories, I'd venture that the characters are a little more complicated than that. You're far more likely to see her fiction in the New Yorker, or a small-press literary fiction mag than on the top-ten paperback best-sellers stand at the airport. They're probably marketing it to look a bit predictable by way of the trailer so that people go see it, and then come away surprised, because this isn't the type of movie a majority of Americans would see. That being said it is a little too hipstery/quirky for my blood, even though I like all of the actors a lot.
How old is Rachel Wood's character supposed to be? I mean, she is beautiful but she doesn't look like a teenager or a girl in her early twenties. And that voice...
sometimes our voice is not our choice, yet i know when we come to Jesus amazing grace it gets kinder and more caring...John 3 ask forgiveness and let Him in your heart to be your friend and help you, amen...worked for me and for millions...John 3 repent & be born again...ok ty e w
e w Maybe cause her director told her so? Maybe her character has some developmental issues, like she never has been taught to function (including speak) normally? How about thinking honey?
11 minutes ago 11:23 PM in my country when I cried while watching this in the bathroom, like legit sobbed quietly because everyone in the house is asleep. So yeah, I just want to comment this so I won’t forget the impact it did to my life🥲
wow how does evan rachel wood look so good here as if she just walked through a wormhole or something? she looks almost the same as in the first movie i saw her in when i saw her play the violin... beautiful...
@@tallulah____halullat9696 It's not. That's Evan Rachel Wood, so unless she has been faking her voice since she was like 12 she is creating this deep voice for the movie.
@@tallulah____halullat9696 Yeah, nah, that's Queen Iduna from Frozen 2. And a million other movies. I've seen Evan Rachel Wood perform live. That is NOT her voice lol
Does anyone know what artist/ song is being played through out the trailer? It kinda sounds like Ryn Weaver singing Mr.Lonely but I'm just taking a guess.
@@gaelgarciaisagod I don't know if she's acknowledged it, but actors draw from real-life people for their character voices all the time. Like Heath Ledger's Joker has a lot of Tom Waits in it.
@@YouGuessIGuess Okay. Thanks! Yeah, as far as I know Evan has not yet said anything publicly about the voice being inspired by a particular person but maybe she will in the future. I didn't know about the Heath Ledger Tom Waits thing. Don't actually know much about Tom Waits in general tbh. Lol. Thanks!
Like a lot of people, I'm not sold on the voice. It's giving me American Sniper baby vibes but I do actually buy that she is in her 20's. She's aging well.
just watched this it was very entertaining and the girls were cute. I liked the fact that they actually kind of sucked at grifting most shows show you rich grifters trying to stay rich but these weirdos are below poverty, we also never figure out why Gina Rodriguez decides to be involved with the biggest weirdos on earth.
She decides to be involved because she also doesn't have a good relationship with her mother (since we don't know what relationship she has with her father). As the scene of the breast crawling depicts, the baby automatically goes towards the nourishing of the mother but in a deeper and scientific level it's because of the "bonding" hormone or as science calls it, oxytocin. When the natural choice for nourishment fails us, we thrive it more than we should and find a substitute for it. Gina's charcater tries to substitute it at first with the family and then finally she "finds" it in ERW.
@@ryanjohnson9418 i know im a year late but it is her real voice, she had voice training to change how she speaks -- Miranda July literally confirmed it, its even on the trivia section of imdb Kajillionaire
