The Grand Line Review examines cipher pol's resident giraffe, Kaku! Discord: / discord Twitter: / grandlinereview Music: - Epic by Bensound (www.bensound.com/royalty-free...) - After The Fall by Purple Planet (www.purple-planet.com)
It conveys such an awesome feeling of freedom and lightheartedness. Especially when he jumps down from waaay high and just drifts through the air. And the children looking up and being all excited that he's "flying" again. I really thought he was gonna join the straw hats back then, boi was I in for a surprise :D
Kaku is my favorite CP-9 member because he doesn't let justice get in the way of his morals, as he gave Zoro the keys to Robin's handcuffs. Is morals and ethics are like that of Aokiji's, although he can't bend and shape his decisions since he's part of the CP branch. I have no doubt in my mind that if Kaku was present at the Ohara incident instead of Aokiji, he'd let child Robin escape. Marines with morals are my favorite type of Marines in the series.
Sad fact : Kaku was only 18 years old when he went on the water 7 mission working under iceberg meaning he was only a child as an assassin witch is probably why he liked worked for iceberg
ye right, he's one of my fav antagonist, he politely gave his key to zoro when he lost, he knew his life will enf there and accepted his fate, he even think of Paulie before dying,
whenever I rewatch the water 7 and enies lobby fights, I always notice new little things about Kaku's behavior. For instance, in the scene where his, Lucci, Kalifa, and Blueno's deception is revealed, Kaku is the only one who doesn't make eye contact with Iceburg. He is always looking down or past Iceburg, never directly at him until they are interrogating him later.
The real reason why a Giraffe was best for Kaku was, as he put it, giraffes have four (long) legs and thus are perfect for rankyaku. It's amazing that Oda can take something so hilarious and so useless and somehow make it frightening and deadly.
If I'm not wrong he also had Giraffe statue in his house, and Hamlet(Giraffe Gifter/Kaido underling) also was one of his favorite design lol. Maybe this could explain why Kaku got so much love
Kaku's comment about how he genuinely enjoyed being part of Galley-La, combined with the flashback that everyone genuinely liked him there too, kind of made me feel for him a bit. I think his character is actually a little tragic tbh. He has all the makings of a genuinely good-hearted man that could have lived a peaceful and fulfilling life if he were not born to be a CP9 agent. I can't imagine the horrors he saw or committed and it kinda makes me wonder what could have been if he had the option of being anything else. yeah i'm aware i'm kind of leather-pantsing him by saying this but like. it kinda hits different when you realize kaku is the only undercover CP9 agent who did not disguise his personality during his time at Galley-La. idk. it just feels. uneasy and sad.
@@chadschmaltz9790 exactly. He seems to be the kind of guy that's not hard to like but due to his background he is on the path he's on. It would be nice to see him go his own path like Aokiji.
Lets be real Oda is a trolling genius. Kaku was called a monkey by fans because of water 7. And his devil fruit is in the shape of a banana. Yet he becomes a freaking giraffe.😂
A FlexibleGamer well you have to remember that the CP9 is technically good. But after the fight he also seemed to have a change of heart aswell. Zoro seems to do that a lot like hatchi, mr 1, guy from thriller bark, etc...
Lucci said the CP9 fighters were all only there to legally kill, but I honestly don't believe that to be the case for Kaku. he never seemed particularly cruel or malicious. I always felt like he was a fighter for what he beleived was justice, not for blood.
Kaku was such a joy to be around in the Water 7/Enies Lobby Arc. Well-mannered, agile, industrious, and a "boy next door" type of guy, even after his Cipher Pol involvement was revealed, I found it really hard to hate him when Lucci and the others came out of hiding. I still do, even though he's now working for the "secret secret" Cipher Pol Aegis 0. #squareboy #giraffesarefun #usoppclone
idk how it looked in the show, but seeing Oda draw Kaku fighting was so cool! he really leveraged the geometric shape of his body with the extending abilities of the Giraffe fruit to pull off some awesome panels! definitely gotta hand it to him!
Of all the CP9 shipwrights, the only one I didn’t expect to be evil. I mean when Lucci and Kalifa were revealed it felt like, yup they are assassins (Lucci was a bit to intense and Kalifa’s position as PA just made sense that she would be a spy) but Kaku threw me for a loop. But looking back it was sort of obvious and not just for how much time was spent on him pre reveal
I feel as if kaku is the most nice person in that group like he has more of a conscious mind or like open heart like he is a good guy working as a assassin
he would be a hybrid. His mother had one together with kaku and all the staff of doffy that had long nose not sure if filler or not it is possible. In real life lore there actually was a giant ear tribe and other crazy things. The inspiration oda got was this real life lore. I really could see it as an ending arc long nose tribe that are famous and fearsome sniper. Maybe yassop was there to prove his sniper ability and met ussop's mother there.
I love Kaku and I am praying he might be playable in Pirate warriors 4. they considered him as a dlc for burning blood along with the likes of Magellan, Arlong, and Garp, so you never know.
Honestly when I first saw him and the way he acted in water 7 I was sort of hoping he'd be the next person in the main cast- needless to say I like him a lot lol.
happy belated birthday kaku!!! my favorite of the cp9 agents along with kalifla(and along with jabra had the funniest moments in the arc along with all the times he was mistaken for usopp.)and my favorite fight along with jabra and lucci.(i was happy to see him in cp0 ,hope we see eventually another canon encounter with the strawhats whether it be a fight or a different means of confrontation.)
His devit fruit is hilarious someone seriously heeds to make a meme of that spongebob episode where he blew an elephant bubble into squidwards House and patric calls it a giraffe but the scene has been photo shoped to show kaku in giraffe form in stead of the bubble
So I don’t know about you manga fans, but during my binge of One Piece, I had a certain perspective during the Water 7 - Enies Lobby arcs. I feel like Kaku, along with Paulie, were actually a misdirection about who would join the crew as the Straw Hat’s official shipwright. I’m not saying Oda had plans to make one of them the shipwright before Franky took the position, just that he set up his story to make us think it would be one of them. Kaku has an identical design to Usopp, as well is a superior shipwright (one of the roles Usopp served in the crew), and after Usopp leaves the crew (with no obvious indication that he would rejoin). When Kaku was revealed as a CP9 agent, Paulie became the next obvious person to fill the role as shipwright for the SH. He’s an active participant in the attack on Enie’s Lobby, which would have (under normal circumstances) earned him a nice bounty, meaning he wouldn’t be able to stay in Water 7. Oda rectified all of this of course, setting it up so Franky would be the only person from Water 7 with a bounty, making him the only available candidate to join the SH. There were other signs, mainly his prominent interactions with Usopp and Robin (the two characters in this arc who had left the crew and were being set up to return). I’m glad we got Franky, he’s SUPER! These are just my observations in hindsight.
After watching the WCI Arc I had a theory that maybe he was one of the many kids trafficked by Mother Caramel over the years and given to the Government.
