Patch Y5 S4.3 has been rushed onto the live servers in a desperate move to fix the loadout reset bug but as a consequence, none of the changes have had the chance to be tested properly. The update to Kali's CSRX 300 sniper rifle (removing the 1-shot-dbno mechanic and increasing the base damage to 122) had already been flagged as a questionable move that might make her borderline unplayable and now for better or for worse, that change is on the live servers. In this video, I will be breaking down the damage stats to explore why exactly the new change is so bad for Kali but that's not all. During my tests I discovered a major issue with the damage multiplier stacking for the CSRX that results in highly unreliable damage output. In short: the CSRX damage model is completely broken and even if it worked as intended, it's a terrible change for Kali players anyway.

@@aleksandrazaryanova1677 Every primary weapon in the game has hundreds of meters in terms of effective range, in game they lose damage after 20 meters like everyone is using airsoft guns. Actually even considering airsoft guns, pretty sure they have longer ranges than that too. Everyone has the effective range of Nerf guns.

Reducing confusion...? Really...? THAT'S the logic behind this? Saying: "the massive sniper always downs in one bodyshot" is about a simple as it gets. Having a complex damage curve with a variety of outcomes against different armor types at different ranges is way harder to keep track of.

@Zhelesnyy Volk I think Ubi just want a scapegoat for the change and already wanted to remove it for quite some time. Otherwise the option to nerf withstand is pretty obvious: increase the time to complete it, or better yet, make a sound cue for it.

Saw the patch notes and convinced myself that Ubi is trolling us. Turns out im wrong. Best way to balance the CSRx is 1 shot insta kill against 3 and 2 speed. . 1 speed goes into DBNO. Remove all the nonsense with Rook armor and remove the speed penalty when running with the gun. The only way to increase her pick rate would be to give her another secondary SMG which I dont think is a good idea. Just rework thatcher or introduce another thatcher alternative operator.

Ngl, probably would have been way simpler if they made her sniper ALWAYS dbno or kill anyone 80 HP or under and ignore Rook armor. It's an anti-material rifle, shit gonna ignore armor IRL anyways and it would make the gun super consistent. Would allow her to be a real threat in the right hands and area deny HARD, forcing defenders to push her. Meanwhile, her weak point is doing the actual pushing. And if you suck with aiming, you're fucked from the 1.2s of weapon switching or chambering unless the enemy has even worse aim. If she's still too weak, maybe allow her to shoot through reinforced walls but create no holes and lose 1/2-3/4 of her damage with no headshot instakill, dealing 25-50 damage to someone behind the wall? It'd be hard to get a lucky wallbang with a bolt action and it'd be stupid to waste your limited ammo too unless you know you can hit them. Allows her to destroy some gadgets or prevent tricking, to an extent, or at least makes it riskier to trick.

I think the best balancing would be: 3 speeds - Kill instantly W/ Rook armor - DBNO 2 speeds - Kill instantly W/ Rook - DBNO. 3 Speeds - DBNO W/ Rook - same. The gun shouldn't ever experience damage drop because of surfaces, that shit can tear huge holes through 5 surfaces in a row normally, I don't think human flesh is extremely more potent than 5 layers of wood, or if shot through a surface, 4 layers.

As a Kali main, I was so mad when I heard about this change. The point of Kali was "you hit - you win, you miss - you die", but now it is impossible to duel 3 armor defenders, because it will take too long to kill them. You can't deal with spawnpeeking rook now, he is too chonky. Moreover, you can't play Kali as a sniper now because the damage reduction will make her shots pointless.

@@devor110 exactly, it will be very strong but not broken, as a direct DBNO is in the eyes of UBI. I think it is a great alternative to DBNO. As long as you are constantly hitting your shots you are not going to eat a bullet from your target.

Great video! The Devs "could" balance Kali's rifle well, but I am almost certain they will not. As you mentioned: Dev statement: "we are adjusting due to confusion" Actual result: SIGNIFICANTLY MORE CONFUSING Mid season patch: Devs: "we are getting away from hidden abilities" Literally the same season's operator: ->"hidden" soft destruction ability Personally, I am: A) tired of the devs nerfing this game into oblivion. I actually really like the idea around her and tbh the one shot to down was imo a good work around with her bc you had to confirm your shots and you can build up v quick reaction time. One shot from 2m-30m for playing on Consulate and tryna take garage, plus having the 12x to watch Office where the window is just right for headshots 😌👌🏾 yeah sure bad rate of fire but you for sure get rewarded for getting those shots. Thatcher/Twitch alt but I felt I was using her primary a lot more unlike Dokkabei for example

Love your data analysis. One question, when armor and speed are always related to one another, why do you define 3 armor operators as "1 speed" instead of "3 armor". They're synonymous, but when the focus in the data analysis is the effect against armor, why do you define them by their speed?

i'm sorry why did kali need changing that much? she was fine after they gave her clash's machine pistol, i never thought i was being injusticed when killed by her. slow fire rate, slow movement but high damage is balanced, sketchy damage, slow fire rate and slow movement is not
