I purchased my Classic Joe last year and ordered my Divide and Conquer a week and a half prior to Thanksgiving. It arrived on time, and the flexibility it offers is second to none in the market. I love my Joe and am excited for every time I get a chance to cook on it. No joke.
Hi John. I'm getting bored with my CGK after a few years. Ready to upgrade. I really like the accessory options and flexibility you described. Will look into the big Joe further. Thanks.
Why is there no basketring in this video?? And why is my charcoalbasket a little higher and therefore the lowest position is not level and do I have to use the x rack ?
It’s convenient that he’s fussing with these without the fire lit - when you’d be normal doing it, as it’s impossible to light the fire with the stones in. They need a better way to set the stones in, cause it gets hot. Especially with the basket and stone tabs. Super frustrating.
Yeah but that cooking space is SO small. My 50$ offset smoker has 800 sq inches and a direct grill grate i can put in the fire box. Been using it 2 years i can't see justifying this price
My Big Joe is getting delivered today, I can't wait to get this guy smokin'! I'm going to need a full rack and an extender for max capacity, those CI half moons are nice too. Having a cast iron grate is one thing I will miss on the Akorn but KJ's got it covered. Excellent video showing how the D&C system can create so many configurations, this stuff should be on a disc and included in the owner's manual! The fact that these accessories were already included in the price of the Big Joe and not add ons, like the competitor's, made it an easy decision for me to buy a KJ.
Dang, that's some versatility. What's the retail on the rack, the two half moon grills, and the two half moon deflectors? The only drawback to cooking on my KJ, as opposed to a kettle grill, is not having a way to do direct/indirect at the same time.
John, I have an older Classic Joe and really liked this divide & conquer system but could not find it on the web site. Is it available as a retrofit? Thanks. Regards, Gary
We live in France and many of us have one or more KJs ! I've had a BJ2 since the end of November and I chose it for this system which basically offers a multitude of possibilities, depending on what you want to do... In addition, the coal basket allows you to use half of the BBQ when there are not many of us, but also to make the other half indirectly.
I just bought a Classic from a local dealer two weeks ago and it didn't come with a split deflector I probably bought new/old stock. I'm disappointed. I wonder if I can cut the deflector in half with a diamond blade or a wet saw?
I just got this grill and didn't get that center metal part for dripping like you have in this video and you don't have it in the web site what's up with that?
I just bought my second KAMADO joe and it came with out accessory rack n a full heat deflector no half moon Last one I bought had the half moon should i call the place I bought from again?
So a question about the divide system. I put the plates in to do brisket but for some reason it very difficult to get the main area up to temp. Suggestions?
I was unable to get a KJ Big Joe last year when looking for a new cooker. We don't seem to have any dealers in my area and FireCraft was having a hard time getting the product to me in a timely manor. My question is this will this system work on other types of ceramic cookers like the BGE XL. Also can I buy it directly from you. Secondly have you gotten better distribution as I would like to add a second ceramic cooker to my collection and think the classic KJ is the right option. Thanks in advance for your reply.
Many of your local ACE Hardware stores have the KJ grills in stock. Another option should anyone else have an issue getting the KJ grill is the Costco roadshow. Google it and check the schedule regularly as it does change. I just picked up 8 bags of lump at the Durham NC roadshow.
I just bought a Classic Joe with the divide and conquer rack system and it didn't come with the star shaped accessory rack and I can't find it on their website? John, where id you get yours? Thanks
