Kamahl has made his decision-making journey surrounding the Voice referendum very public, after initially saying he would be backing the No vote, he then said he supported the Yes vote. Now, he will vote no again and he told us how he got to that decision.

shame on the project. they planned to promote a Yes supporter but because Khamal supports the No they try to discredit him. labelling him in this youtube name as "backflipping again" and during the interview changing their script trying to poke holes in everything he said. They all really exposed their unprofessional unjournalistic bias. particularly about the 40 billion dollars. telling Khamal he is wrong and comparing it to the 4 million allocated through one particular funding entity whereas Khamal was talking about the entire allocation to all aboriginal organisations. And they knew this.... seriously, does anyone think only 4 million is disbursed overall? But the project claimed this to discredit Khamal. Really disgraceful.

I have to say I laughed so hard when Kamahl announced his backflip live on air. Clearly they thought he was in the bag and after building the man up they then did there best to tear him down. By the way the productivity commission reported 30 billion was spent on indigenous affairs in 2017 which has risen to at least 35 billion now so he wasn’t that far wrong about the spend. The point was made that not all of this was direct payments but the if the productivity commission say that 35 billion is spent on indigenous affairs then that’s a fair statement for him to make and old mate on the panel should be ashamed of fact checking without the facts.

Hamish Macdonald conuntered Kamahl's claim that $40 billion is spent on indigenous people by saying it was it is $4.5 billion, however this is only theannual budget for the National Indigenous Australians Agency and NOT the TOTAL budget spend, which it seems that Kamahl was referring to and maybe coincidentally, is also mentioned in Productivity Commission reports. I do hope that Hamish and the other members of The Project's panel, reach out to Kamahl and apologise to him.

The $30 billion figure appears to have come from the Productivity Commission's most Indigenous Expenditure Report, published in 2017, which provides a breakdown of total "direct expenditure" on First Nations Australians. So probably exceeding $40 billion now.. The report estimated that direct expenditure on all Australians - by all state, territory and federal governments - totalled $556.1 billion in 2015-16, of which $33.4 billion (6 per cent) was spent on First Nations people.
@stevenp2309
@stevenp2309 10 месяцев назад
Wrong. "Ultimately, the Productivity Commission estimates that only $5.6 billion or 18.6% of the total expenditure is provided through Indigenous-specific or targeted services, saying that: Mainstream services accounted for $24.7 billion (81.4%) of direct Indigenous expenditure in 2012-13… with the remaining $5.6 billion (18.6%) provided through Indigenous-specific (targeted) services (a real decrease of $0.1 billion (1.2%) from 2008-09). What’s the difference between Indigenous-specific and mainstream services? According to the Productivity Commission: Mainstream expenditure includes outlays on programs, services and payments that are available to both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous Australians on either a targeted or universal basis."
