Well done with the new hotel room away from the main road and same price. Excellent!! Nice place the other you showed us but the price is that of the Western World. They cannot be serious. No one would pay that to stay there in Kampot Cambodia - surely not. Omelette looked pretty darn good washed down with 50c beers. Good stuff buddy. Life is good. Cheers.

That beer at 26.53 looked the business! Lovely stuff! I think the 'flash hotel' was empty because it had 'overpriced' on the rooms? $350 per night! wow. I expected about half that cost! Who knows!

I don't think so. Kampot is a small town. Thus, it's pretty normal that it was quiet. Also, Cambodia does not completely depend on tourism. The country exported approximately $22.5 billion of goods in 2022. At its peak, in 2019, the country only received around $4 billion from tourism (still 5 times than less the revenues coming from agriculture and manufacturing product exports). I hope expats or foreigners who can't speak Khmer should not act like they are experts of the country because they cannot get into the deeper level of the situations. This white guy still acted like he was a neo-white colonist. He actually does not know much.

Sean, I´m coming to Cambodia in 5 weeks, is it best to get dollars or local currency? I heard things are cheaper in riel? I´m planning to go to PP, KohRong and Siem Reap, would you recommend Kampot?
If you bring dollars, better, If you change up $100 to real, you will get $4 more to spend, hope that makes sense and nope I would not recommend Kampot

It's so sad about the waste out there and I'm the same as you buddy. I ciuldnt wait to get back to Thailand. My wife's Khmer and she's the same, we both prefer Thailand for everything. Better roads, food, accommodation. It's sad.
Your videos of Cambodia are really capturing a place that has lost its soul even your g'days have lost there spark .I think when you enter the town of 101 casinos you will be hightailing out out of Cambodia.
