I do like the fact that she understood how complex Otto's character is. Yes, he is a villain that did unforgivable acts, but at the same time it "feels wrong" to blame him all for it. The world on his time, Schicksal, and the Apocalypse family all contributed to create the monster that is Otto Apocalypse; the same way he created a monster in Sirin. And thank you again Olly-chan for the great work.
but... was otto who send those monsters right? i mean, he could go and save her but instead he send those monster to make caos and save her but instead she protect the people and die for it, you reap what you sow
@@LukarioCh. Yes. But he was desperate to save Kallen that time. It was his own sister that pushed him into a corner. Again, the Apocalypse family contributed largely on Otto's descent into madness.
I think "forgive" is not an option here. We can understand why Otto did the things he did, but objectively speaking what he did was very, very wrong. Even Otto himself understand this and has never once considered asking for anyone's forgiveness, instead opt to carry all his sins to his grave. That's what make him a great villian.
He admitted himself that he's a villain. I mean he was the "clown" playing as a villain. But honestly i think he's more like an anti-villain just like Kevin.
When she kept shouting "It's not fair!" I smiled as my eyes became wet. That's right, it's not fair, nothing is fair, but Otto did what he had to. That's why, even when I can't forgive him, I still respect him. And I'm glad Kanaru could see that too. People aren't black and white, they're grey.
Man has been fighting alone for 500 years for his only one hero. Just like Kiana he was just fighting for the only Justice he believed in which is “her” After all shit he went through he deserved happiness too imo, like at least stay alive and stay with her again god dammit not delete your existence in every reality and leave her alone..
You could tell she's crying cuz her eyes are shaking. She is the only one so far who view Otto's sacrifice is unfair and it makes it more painful on that perspective.
what Otto's leave behind: the greatest possibilities to fend off Honkai that is the Kiana Sisters.. what it took: one and only the greatest and irreplaceable teacher of his granddaughter school... well, there's actually some major damage in some part of the world, including Raven's new home...
Durandal did not hate him Amber (The Clone) loved him Theresa did not hate him Welt respected him as an enemy Nobody really hated him except Siegfield, but I mean he killed Sieg's wife Otherwise fighting Otto was generally not because they hated him but rather he must be stopped
@@enju3588 Yeah, while his five brain 200IQ tenth dimensional chess plan was him losing to Kiana and Durandal, he was perfectly willing to do his backup/fake plan of just erasing the present to simulate going back 500 years to the past
Durandal and Theresa did not hate him, but they also dont condone him. Come on, Welt (Yang) DESPISES him and would probably spit on his grave if given the chance. Basically 80% of the hyperion crew want him gone.
@@ledah1363 Welt's decency and education will not allow him to do that sort of stuff, but otherwise Welt still respects him, hating and respecting are not really opposite.
I think because she understands him the most just like me lol, others might see him as a monster but I only see him as a "Human" not hero or villian just typical Human just like us in real life
@@phong.w4829 This is just my opinion, but I feel as an indie VTuber, Otto's story is more relatable to them, why?. because Otto Always works alone and tries with himself like an Indie Vtuber. while Vtuber Agency I see them like Kiana and other Valkyries, where they build and solve problems together
Thanks for this ahaha. My curiosity finally sated. *earlier Kanaru: otto *inaudible FAQ *Kanaru Now: *cries Unfair! I want him to live happily. Ahhhh thanks for the fresh tears. Thumbs up Olly san. Thanks for this.
A well written villain is not one with over-the-top ambitious, atrocious actions, or a despicable personality, but one we - the reader - can understand. For that, Otto Apocalypse is legendary.
"he's a bad guy. even if he's unforgiveable, i'm tempted to forgive him. but in the end, i couldn't forgive him. I will never forgive what he has done." this.,. THIS Truer words have never been spoken like this
THe thing that made me burst into tears is the fact that Otto could have been a hero if Kallen didn't die. He would not have done any of the horrible deeds he did if he knew that the only thing he needed to sacrifice was himself.
He could have been a hero regardless. He had the choice to follow her ideals and be a positive force in the world and he chose his obsession with finding a way to bring her back. I understand why he made that choice, many would in his shoes. But it WAS A CHOICE HE MADE. Otto Apocalypse is the picture of tragedy.
@@RoninBlackwing among many other atrocities he chose. But hey why honor her memory and wishes better to lay the atrocities in her name I'm sure kallan will be happy to know what was committed on her behalf.
What I saw in Otto: -He did carry on for Kallen's legacy after she died by bringing liberty to schicksal -He thought that it wasnt enough=gave in to insanity and obssession, with dedication he outsmart anyone for 500 yrs -He would choose to kill himself if that was a choice, but the choice required him to kill many which he put on a persona (a clown, similar to Joker) cuz he didnt want to do it. -It was Kallen and Otto against the world from the beginning, when she died.. a part of him died too. She was his family, friend and lover ('til Kallen found out about his child experiments; Oath or Love, kallen chose Oath) -The people he killed might be/are alive in Kallen's world. Than repeat the cycle of Otto going insane again, and killing the same people all over again.
@@akoroseraishi8604 - Yes, he had not forsaken huanity because Kallen would not have wanted that BUT if that was the only choice to revive Kallen, then he would do that. - Hmmm your 3rd point is questionable since at the end of his journey, the one with you just walking and Otto just talking to himself, he did say his regrets, that if he knew from the start that only his death was needed, then he wouldn't have became the villain that he is now. (Yeah he indeed hated himself for what he has done which is quite obvious even before otto's arc) - I think that your last point is also wrong since Otto is gone from existence, meaning that there would be no more Otto in any of the branches that have Kallen. (There might not be an Otto at any of the branches)
A little spoiler if you haven't played through Theresa's Chronicles... I would always remember that moment years ago in my Chronicles playthrough that Otto's logs was like he was a crazy scientist and it is also where I realized Otto was always aware of his not so ethical deeds when he named A-310 Theresa instead of Kallen, or a Kaslana at that point. It was that moment that he knew Kallen won't ever be back.
I can't remember whether it's from the chronicles or the manga, but for me it was pretty obvious that this was the point where he realized that he couldn't bring Kallen back and started to look into the imaginary tree path. Which makes his opening lines at his monologue hit hard (about how impossible it is to bring a person back to life).. And when he mentioned Theresa's coronation and how he always adores her as his "granddaughter" rather than a clone of Kallen's.. man.. he really gave his all.
kinda late but i think the final point that he realize he can't bring kallen back and there is no way back is after he meet WoH and sirin died(Pseudo Herrscher of ded can't bring kallen back),after that his plan change to use K-423 like now
Essentially he was creating Kallen clones, like in his half hour limping scene, he explains that he believed that the "soul" existed above planes of existences and dimensions, that given the right conditions, Kallen's soul can be retrieved and revived in a clone. This was during the Theresa Chronicles experiments. He then attempted to look into using the Honkai to bring Kallen back. In the Second Eruption Manga, he briefly manipulates SIrin, who possessed the Gem of Serenity, AKA a Honkai Core of Death, into reviving a lost loved one. He witnessed that the "revived" human was nothing more than a husk, an empty shell, far from what you can call a human let alone the original person who died. Soon after that, he received a revelation from the Honkai God what he must do to "bring her back." As Otto dived deeper and deeper into studying the Honkai, it let him into more understanding of the Imaginary Tree and Sea of Quanta. He has since realized that there is no "bringing her back," Kallen was gone. But as he began to understand how the multiverse and how his own world line timeline flows within the Imaginary Tree, he began his plans we see here.
Kanaru chan was my first ever vtuber I followed a year ago when inazuma launched, she's the one who opened the world of vtuber to me. Glad that I'm able to stay tru with her honkai journey to chapter 28, thanks to you we all can understand her reactions and the little nuances so much better. Really appreciate your work Oll yt. お疲れ様!
I love how she didn't cry much with the girls but when it came to the villain who's so desperate that he turned the world upside down just to get his girl back. It was not an easy choice. I felt that as a man who've lost things.
In his last moment he didn't even remember her face but only her smile gave him last breath to get the job done imagine that 500 years you did everything to gain that smile a freedom and you didn't even get to see it...
Why can't we have more villains like this? One who calculates and anticipates the actions and reactions of the world to themselves, run the numbers of the sins they must commit versus the virtues they need to ignore, then smile as the "hero" runs them through at the end. All because it's a part of the plan. Not the plan of those who they've wronged, or retribution from the World as recompense of their crimes. Because the plan requires this last sacrifice for the guaranteed success of the wish they longed to grant since the very beginning. They knew what was required to win against the full might of the World as their very limited selves, and they didn't hesitate. Rest in peace Otto, I know that I'll miss you
Because it is hard to write. People like Otto are hard to write and from a writer's point of view, it would tear your own heart as you put him through all those pains. I love writing heroes but it is the villain that I fall in love with. So I might be projecting here. It is impossible not to love Otto due to how much depth he has. As a writer Otto is not impossible to write but when you do, a part of you stays with them.
Lol Okay, sorry... I absolutely agree to what she said. You're a villain Otto, don't make us wavering to forgive you.... Damn it..... And if you want to do it a villain's way, don't sacrifice yourself.... Live it, and see it through..... Frick......
I would see this as Otto's ultimate win. He wins the real final battle, he wins against the Honkai, he wins against fate, he wins our respect and some of our hearts. He wins the war without a single ally. I seriously can't imagine how Theresa feelings, she's the only person who (probably, more like I wish) don't hate him.
@@arys_mikazuki Durandal didn’t hate Otto either. She fought him to the death to protect everyone in her world from him; not because she hated him, and that was made absolutely clear in this chapter. Rita doesn’t hate Otto. She may disagree with the way Otto does things on a personal level and throws in her own touches of rebellion against him when and where possible (I.e., stealing and wiping the ningyo’s memory and leaving it alive with the Hyperion crew when she was supposed to completely destroy it), but you don’t stay that loyal to someone if you hate them. Don’t think Amber or Nagamitsu hated Otto, either, as both were loyal to him in the end.
Kiana fights for the beauty of the world. Otto fights for the only one person. Kiana tries to overcome the pain and move forward. But otto clings to the past. He is the opposite of the kiana.
As much as Otto ruin a lot of lives to achieve his goals he did try to leave them hope on how they can protect themselves from honkai. Because he created Kiana he made everyone realize that advance technology is not the only solution to battling honkai and that human emotions and action that everyone do out of love can create miracles and power even greater than anyone can imagine and he prove it by fighting Kiana and Bianka as someone with the strength that is almost godlike. I also love how he realize that its impossible to revive a life that was already lost saying that "the mind can find another vessel but it won't allow the mind to gather the scattered pieces of the past" the new life will always be somone new no matter how similar they are that's why he choose to create a alternative timeline for Kallen just to fulfill his selfish wish of extending Kallen's life even if it exchange his own life
Yups, Kanaru chan is my most beloved honkai player and vtuber I really love. She not only know the feeling how Otto sama fight everything alone also know the source from his evil act, after all Otto sama family is the root of his behavior.
As someone who is only at ch. 3. I can still feel the impact despite knowing so little about its background. It's not hard to tell that I will cry like a baby all over again when I reached this chapter lol.
Apparently after otto changed the timeline and sacrifice himself and all that. Skip to 50,000 years into the future there were no more honkai and otto tricked the will of the honkai deal -source someone who read the manga
That would make him a legend who ends all of suffering in the universe that caused by honkai. Thinking about that for a sec really gave me chills HE DID MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE...
Rewatching clip and got that "it might be the world Otto wants but its not the world Kanaru wants", again she makes me smile and feel nice knowing there's relatable people when it comes to Honkai.
@@hbeep6686 i think she couldn't handle main story. She still play honkai but the events only. She never touched the main story after shattered samsara
Oll need to make a poll to see how viewers truly want [End of Otto] be 1. Otto should be happy too after all his 500 years of effort 2. We should be Happy that even as Otto disappear, he fulfill what he desire.
9:01 he didn't have a choice, this is the closest best ending he wished and could get, he has already done so much and so much wrong thing to even reach this point...
Her reaction was 5x harder to watch than the actual animation. Many pats for her, I might consider to sub to her. Imagine if Otto didn't achieve his goal at the end, after 500 years, and died before creating the new universes. Both endings are sad but only one of them have a happy side too
Went from most hated to one of the most discussed. People still hate what he did, but they also can't bring themselves to fully hate him due to his great backstory.
what he put them through forged great hero's to keep the world safe. he died with no one knowing his story and being hated till the end. out of all of then he has payed the most, suffered the most and sacrificed the most. 500 years of pain suffering and loneliness.
Poor Kanaru, someone tell her that Otto made a branch parallel timeline and a version of himself won't experience what happened to him. So Kallen and Otto in that timeline will live longer together. He couldn't get it right with his own universe's timeline because it'd destroy humanity's chances at defeating Honkai. So he made a new branch world on the IMG Tree identical to his own and basically rewrote that part before it happens. So Otto saved her at the cost of himself, but also gave rise to a world where his other self would still live with Kallen being alive.
Actually, is this confirmed though? Because a lot of the lines imply that Otto basically deleted himself from that timeline as well in exchange for saving Kallen (his final monologue is his younger and older version speaking together, and when Kallen wakes up she says "Farewell forever"). If there's an alternative, happy Otto in this new timeline I would be super happy though. But if not, I'll just imagine that Otto and Kallen reincarnated into Genshin as the Kamisato parents :')
@@NijiKonohana Haha, the reason I believe Otto alter lives in that timeline is because due to the IMG Tree and Otto both being finite temporarily due to Imaginary Re-normalization allowed Otto to make a branch reality and enter that reality at the pivotal moment in time where Kallen was supposed to die. Using the last of his life to kill the beast that would have killed her. Otto's existence into that reality would count as an interference, but it shouldn't affect the Otto of that timeline who released the beasts to actually save Kallen. Otto of main timeline just sort of undid an action that would have happened again had he not created and entered the branch timeline at that moment. Cuz that death is what plunged him into despair for 500 years of guilt. So it kinda leans into the idea that Otto of that timeline would be happy that Kallen survived and not go to the ends of the reality to try and get this Kallen back too.
No he actually states that price was going to be his very exsistence so basically all ottos get deleted from the timelines also the honkai in this new timeline also got destroyed
@@robertogutierrezgonzalez736 this is untrue. There is no indication that he sacrifices anything beyond his current self. And we know it's untrue because both GGZ and Star Rail Otto exist.
@@Exapico didnt ggz world got destroyed by hote? didnt play it so i only got to see some cgs as for star rail is there an otto in it didnt know that and is there a kallen there? didnt otto state in beyond the will the price to pay was the dead of one man (himself) and the honkai that was meant to kill us so i can of understood it as for there to be a kallen means there will no otto and no honkai
I will never forgive Otto for what he did but I respect his resolve. The first time I watch this animation I'm unconsciously shout "Don't you dare stop now you son of a bitch!! Get UP!!!" in the scene he get attack by the golem. For some reason I'm cheering on him. I can't fully understand it myself.
"it doesn´t feel right to call him a villain, but I can´t forgive what he did to everyone" Exactly my thoughts when I finished this chapter. Also, is in my belief that the Otto of the new alternative Universe, with Kallen alive, will be a diferent person.
1.Otto was the one that released the Honkai Beast to let Kallen escape in the chaos. 2. Him fighting the copy of the same Honkai Beast with Oath of Juda is a reflection of how easy Kallen could defeat it if he only was straight forward and turned his back on his family.
God....otto is very brave to choose this decision... what a chad.. is he not afraid to die? alone in the world of death ? AGRHHHH MY MENTAL CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE GOD BRING HIM BACK 😫😭
I'll have seven glassful of tears, thank you. Though in all seriousness, her wishing that Otto and Kallen would be together is rather sad. But this is what he wanted. Live long enough to die a villain? So be it. Give a timeline for Kallen even if it means him probably not existing in that timeline. So Be It. The end if this arc is truly bitter sweet. But hey, this is Otto's happy end.
You know when I think about this plan of when it succeed and after playing Sanka Saga(I know that's a different universe but possibilities of it occuring in other universe isn't far fetch) after Kallen lived, what's next for her ? The one she loved is sealed which might as well be dead, Schicksal would still hunt her down since she's a wanted criminal in their eyes and Fu Hua's out of the question on the account she's either in pieces or Kallen couldn't bare being someone who's at that time was as cold hearted as Present day Kevin. So is she supposed to be on the run with no place to be forever or something ?
No Sanka Saga only happened because of the influence of the Black Box planting obsession within Kallen. She probably still has the young Otto. Who is by no means her miracle worker. If Otto was able to overthrow Schicksal on his own he would definitely do it for Kallen. Especially after people view Kallen as a hero and the meteor will probably be remembered as the hand of god. Young Otto would definitely feel loss because everything he had ever done only risked Kallen’s life. So he would have to change. They probably just get together and free the evil from the world. Kallen motto is to move on so unfortunately for Yae she probably stays sealed forever. The only one who could save her is Otto with VA Fenghau down. But this path only ends in tragedy. Don’t forget that Kallen loves Otto just as much as Sakura. If he redeems himself, she will take him.
@@ShiraFuyu2022 It's kinda hard to say, Kallen herself said they could have lived a happy for the rest of their lives if bad things didn't happen, and Kallen was never shown as a lesbian either (never show interest in women) until she meet Sakura. Sure, her heart right now is a complete mess, she lost the love of her life and now the "young" Otto is someone who learned from his mistakes and is willing to help humanity, so no one can predict what would happen in these alternatives universes. Maybe she will try to find an answer to free Sakura from the Herrscher with Otto's help (her happiness means everything for him, even if it's with other), or maybe she can give him another chance, only miHoYo knows the answer-
Edit: I made a mistake, the Otto that learned from his mistakes is the one from post-Schicksal war, under the banner of the Holy Maiden. This one, the one who realeased the Honkai beasts to kill the people is... Not that good yet, so I'm not really sure if she can forgive him that easily...
That's why i skipped Jing Yuan in HSR and roll for Luocha instead. There's a possibility that Kallen or perhaps a character oddly similar to her likewise to Luocha would be playable in the future there. And i swear I'm gonna roll for her and give up any other characters for her, i just... I just.. at the very least, in HSR they are a happy couple in my account.
In the end even though throughout it alll I considered Otto a villain I only have respect for him, a man of great love and conviction to throw away the world and everything he have for the one that he love. I respect you Otto Apocalypse.
It's why we love hoyoverse or mihoyo in back time, I think he is the worst person ever, but in the end He is not the worst or the good , He is Otto, a person who is not the Hero nor the villain,

when i was playing this arc before the release of the animation, I realized that his plan is literally a 500 year su*cide plan; He wanted to die but, not until he fulfilled his goal. As a dude who experienced being extremely down for like years, kiana's arc when she was being eaten by self blame and this arc was the most painful to me personally; that's why when Kanaru said "if you had to do it, make sure you yourself is happy too" it broke me.
