This was absolutely an overlooked and misjudged sequel than anybody believed in 2010. Not only was it pushing boundaries but achieved a style that wasn't often experienced especially in third-person video games at the time. Undoubtedly, there's still flaws and ultimately with shortcomings regarding its story and overall replay value. Had the events in Shanghai went on longer, with more context and chaos, then it'd been a legendary sequel. But my biggest suggestion to newcomers is to play the main campaign on its 'Extreme" difficulty to "extend " the experience with greater challenges. Also, we really need this franchise to hopefully someday have conclusion because its cliffhanger was too ominous and epic.
This is an excellent game. The mechanics are solid and you shoot lots of bad guys. And it's got an interesting visual style to boot. What more do you people want? It's a videogame!
I think this game would be among the bests if they threw a a couple of kinks in the enemy's aim. Once I come out of cover, every shot is a marksman's direct hit. Elsewise, definitely one of my favorites. I'm still rooting for this franchise and would love to see a Kane & Lynch 3.
I agree they should've allowed the player to be tactically in control of his crew. I think people won't see the beauty of the gun play in this game. Angry Joe for example complained of the shotgun being the most accurate gun in the game. I think the accuracy of guns in this game added a realism affect, definitely for me at least. Shot placement matters more than you would see in other games. Very controlled fire is required to get direct hits, which for me took down even the toughest in 2 to 3 shots. I think that's single shot firing is quite easy for even the guns with the highest fire rates. I know this game is old. Eidos said they canceled working on it. They must know people will buy the 3rd because it is such a unique series. I think they might make another or at least I hope so. I enjoyed the ragdoll affects in this game more than any other shooter I've played. I think it's absolutely perfect and as real as it gets. I've played over and over both games, and would love to play a 3rd.
I am a big fan of the story telling just because it makes you put things together in your mind. In the first one they gave you just enough to where you could piece together certain things, thus accepting the harsh characters in a more subtle way
This game was fuckin realistic... no cheats no music from nowhere and a good story line plus the actual realization that there are no good guys in the world 😊
I played it, and I got to say that it's an underrated game. The story mode is....well....ok. I like how it has some exploration in levels, but the experience was weird. However, the good parts of the game are the arcade and multiplayer. Arcade mode is an offline version of Fragile Alliance from the multiplayer, which is great for those that love offline multiplayer, like me! I wish Undercover Cop and Cops & Robbers got arcade versions too. This game's flaws are the campaign mode as I said and the biggest one of all....DLC. Half of the arcade and multiplayer weapons are DLC, which is so stupid. They should be free, as well as the maps. DLC should cease to exist already.
This is one of those games where you either love it or hate it. I happen to love it. The first games story was better but the graphics and multiplayer are better in the second. The addition of arcade was fun for me as well. I'd give K&L2 an 8/10. And its well worth the $20 that it is priced at now.
I'm still holding onto hope for a Kane & Lynch 3 on Xbox One and PS4. I think if there is a sequel it should be more of a sandbox with 1 primary objective and multiple secondary objectives. You could choose to play as both Kane and Lynch and there would always be enemies trying to kill you so you will constantly have to keep your guard up.
I love the story and characters but I will admit its a very generic third person shooter, the visuals are well done however. The level design is not as good as Kane and lynch 1 but the gunplay is. I'd give it a 6.6
The example given when the reviewer says that the cover "frustrates as much as it helps" shows the player getting hit when shifting out of cover to fire...GAMETIP: the cover does not make you invulnerable to gunfire if you stick your head out to fire or get flanked.
Don't buy this shit unless its really cheap. You aren't getting a lot of bang for your buck. I completed the game in 3hrs and I wasn't even rushing and not to mention its really repetitive. You shoot and shoot and shoot and shoot. The only good thing is the visual style.
The whole Kane & Lynch series is a guilty pleasure for me. Even though it turned out to be a failed concept in the end, both games turned out to be unique both visually and gameplay-wise from one another!
@alrdd That has nothing to do with our original point. You said that "It's been advertised everywhere, and you know when something is advertised that much it's going to be a huge flop." I was trying to prove that advertising does not affect the game itself. When I said COD and Halo were overhyped, I meant that they had way too much advertising.
I just got this for $4.99 on Steam and it looks amazing on my PC. The reviewers always review games on easy level. For max adrenalin rush start the games on the hardest level you can bear.
I will never understand the negative reviews. The story and the characters were great. People kept bitching about the short story mode, but they probably played it on easy or medium.
I really enjoyed the game. Loved the visual style and the story, although it was really short. The series would make for an awesome movie series but they're screwing that up with Jamie Foxx as Lynch, c'mon who's bright idea was that. But yeah I enjoyed it hope they make a number 3.
anybody whos been in either a paintball or pellet gun fight knows the aiming system is actualy pretty realistic and the story is as real as it gets ( except the huge gunfights in the middle of the street ) and this is a game for mature people and the game creaters know that its not a sell out game its a crime action shooter
Actually I can deny it. Because all I can remember about the graphics was turning around fast enough to see everything without texture, and then it suddenly appeared. The gameplay is exactly like every previous game, and the story could have been thought up by a balloon animal. And what mechanics? Press R1/RB to shoot, don't press R1/RB to not shoot? I've seen sponges with more mechanics then that.
This game is pretty awesome you can play the entire single player with coop the graphics are good just look at it this is a good review if the campaign was longer I'd give it a 8.5
The three most important things to know about Kane & Lynch 2: 1. 4hr length. 2. Disappointing ending. 3. Below-average game (at best). Did Gies mention any of these things in his 'review'? IGN lost all credibility after their disgraceful Hydro Thunder Hurricane review and Arthur Gies is not just a bad reviewer, he's one who has been known to lie in his reviews (fact).
They should of just kept the first game running and did more for online. To me the first games online was one of the best console online games for a while.
ill quote an ''un stressed'' reviewer... FOURS HOURS?? FOURS FUCKING HOURS???? FOURS HOURS!! -Angry Joe one of the most honnest and greatest review on the internet
I really don't understand why everyone is dissing this game! Sure controlling feels a bit weird at first and so does the cover system, but when you play it a while it all starts feeling quite natural. That I got to admit that the game was too short. It was relly over in 4 hours, but it really feeled like watching a really good movie. Visually this game is quite stunning, I think. The camera effects are just brilliant. I would give 8,5 to 9 points out of 10.
Steam Kane and Lynch: Dead Men -75% £2.49 Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days -75% £3.74 Kane & Lynch 2: Alliance Weapon Pack -75% £0.49 Kane & Lynch 2: Multiplayer Masks Pack -75% £0.35
I've just sat through an entire Let's Play of Kane and Lynch and I can tell you, it looks pretty fucking epic. I already know the story now though, so I don't need to buy :D
Just wondering, was IGN paid to give this a positive review? Neither the written or the video review make any mention of the gameplay. Just the multi-player, presentation and story.
I loved this game, it was very disturbing and the multiplayer was entertaining when I had nothing else to do, the only issues is there isn't anyone playing multiplayer at all
If you have a bad ass surround sound system, and love dark violent games, this is a must buy because the sound and feel of this game is fucken insane. Just wait for the price to drop or buy it used. This game may not appeal to minors, Call of duty, and/or Halo fanboys.
They're getting better at this. I'll give them that. This is every indication that Kane and Lynch 3 will probably score anything above an 8.5. Despite the 7.0 score I might have to check this one out regardless. I did so with The Force Unleashed and that game didn't disappoint.
the big problem that people are having with the game is that most people are used to the pretty and perfect and clean games such as uncharted, mgs, cod, and the list goes on and on. this game is mostly for real hardcore movie fans, dark, dirty and gritty and not the dumb ass one dimentional fans
You were right, but Kane & Lynch 2 was actually worse than KL1. The single player is short (around 4 to 6 hours), bad ending and the mutliplayer has less than 10 maps, if you don't believe me, just go to check Angry Joe's review about this game
The camera was actually really cool once you got used to it. It made everything feel like a found-footage documentary film, especially when it shook all around when you were sprinting!
I have the game, and I managed to find ONE person online. The online is... let's just say that half of the time I couldn't tell where that guy was because he slipped around like a piece of soap sliding to the other end of the shower.
How the hell did this game get a 7.0 ? This game is worth $2.99 at GameStop now, because they know this game will be hard to sell because of its lack of goodness ! Wow
I don't get it. Why are people hating on this. I haven't played the 1st but saw the game in the shop and though I'd look it up. Looks pretty interesting. Anyone care to explain why comments such as Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Shit are justifiable.
I don't see why people didn't like the original...if you actually played it you would have realized it was pretty good. It has a gritty and hard story, some what comparable to max payne 3. Not to mention all the different places it takes you in the game.
i honestly love this game. it's so deep and has a very sad story. The only thing I hate about it is the ending. Big cliffhanger really, but when you get down to it, it's just a game.
i hate reviews now, they teach people not not to care about their own opinion and rely on others to do it for them despite that everyone has different views of a game.
@darbusmaximus so no one at all plays online? i was really thinking of getting this game for the multiplayer and the co-op. but if no one at all goes online anymore... then idk. are there at least a few people?
