Phil has impeccable time. He stretched out his playing for live. On the record he had these gargantuan, deep, gated drums that would be impossible to replicate live and played more sparsely. I like how he changed things up for this performance. One of the all time greats for sure!!!!
The KANSAS legacy continues......Great job guys! You all sound Great! Glad to see the band and music moving into the future for younger fans to enjoy. You guys ROCK!
after all these years you guys rock!!! U guys are the best!!! I hope I can die a happy man after I see you live, i live in FL come to Tampa Bay please guys!!!
i remember in the 80,s i listened a radio station eeuu air base Torrejon in spain a rock program and sounds this song mixed with M.S.G. desert song....was amazing...i willnever forget.
Dude you have to listen to the album Leftoverture and that will change your mind especially the songs The Wall, and Carry On My Wayward Son. This is a great song but a lot better ones out there.
This is hands down my favorite KANSAS tune post Steve Walsh. This song was penned by John Elefante and his brother Dino. I live roughly 5 minutes from where the Elefante brothers grew up in Lakewood, California. Super talented and great Christian men.
OMG. These guys are SO back in business again, sounding as great as ever! IMO. (And that's absolutely NOTHING against the previous incarnations. The "Livgren" and "Elefante" incarnations were ESPECIALLY great!) BTW, their new album, The Prelude Implicit, is, IMO, really, really excellent, too. Plus their recent DVD history of the band is worth searching out, as well. Thank you for keeping that Fire lit, Kansas!!!
Hey, he’s clearly having fun while performing, I don’t see the harm in that really. It’s better than standing around like a boring piece of wood like you’re in High School chorus being forced to sing sappy songs for a decent grade.
What would have been really cool...Is instead of having that man come out with the Horse mask... Have a group of traditional "Native American dancers" come out wearing costumes resembling the ones depicted on the cover of there (1979 album Monolith). But something like that would probably cost a lot more money to put together.
This hearkens back to the goofy stuff they used to do in the 70's. During Magnum Opus they had a roadie that would come out on stage dressed as a nun, then someone would disrobe him and he was a naked guy running around on stage(Under strobe lights so as to not see so much)
Having seen the ORIGINALS in their prime....in the 70's, 80's- 5 times, and once post greatness, in Seattle ON their tour bus....I can tell you- this is but a SHELL of the original band/SOUND.
Steve Walsh's voice was shot 15 years ago. He didn't want to write music for a new album, they couldn't play more than 90 minutes, because he couldn't sing any longer than that in one show, and half of their catalog was unavailable because he could no longer sing them. Finally, he didn't want to do it anymore. So they did what every band does when someone retires or dies...find a replacement. and a damn good one.
this is the great RICH WILLIAMS and he is a genius musician, and you are just a blip on the radar,he's carrying the whole band string wise, show some respect,i didn't want the music to stop and I'm damn glad they still perform
