First time I have seen or heard this band . Wonderful prog rock

This song got a HUGE ovation from the crowd in Seattle tonight (9/8/23). My son was with me and had never heard it, and he was blown away. For me it was the highlight (pinnacle?) of the show. This band sounded so good, it's hard to believe Ronnie can still hit all the high notes...he's 63 years old!! Tom Brislin was a great pick up for this band, he is a fantastic player. What a fantastic show, they still sound great. BTW, Phil played the 2nd half of the show, much to the delight of the crowd :)

Just amazing.....they are still so good. Tom Brislin is such an asset! Also the new violinist Joe Deninzon and the drum tech sitting in for Phil Ehart.....they're just fitting in seamlessly.

Could not agree more. Tom is the MVP, to my ears. He is faithful to the original timbres and textures on the keyboards.

It's amazing to see that they played this classic! Without a doubt it's my favorite from the album "Masque"! But, it is inevitable not to miss the most classic members. It would be wonderful to see Steve there singing and celebrating this incredible band! Of course, it's Robby too.

I'm the biggest Kansas fan, since 1975 saw them 19 times. Last dW them in 2018 Miriam theater in Philly, while they may have blown you guys away, I felt like I was watching a Kansas tribute band. In my opinion not even close to the original

Yeah, I was at The Keswick and a week before in Baltimore. Gotta get to at least one more 50th show. There are so many deep feelings and strong memories attached to Kansas music is difficult for me to put them into words.

THANK YOU FOR TAPING THIS!!!!! One the favorite songs from my high school years-- absolutely LOVED the Livgren epics! I had NO IDEA it had been this long since it was performed. I saw them do it-- the united Mysteries and Mayhem with this as one piece, and I even had a recording of this from a radio broadcast of a Chicago concert! I saw them every tour from the debut album up to the Two for the Road and Point of Know Return albums.

Wow. Thank you for posting this. Pinnacle is my favorite Kansas/Kerry composition and I’ve always wanted to see it live. Honestly I’d love to see the band do the entire suite, Mysteries/pinnacle and then slide into Carry On. I read somewhere, in an interview with Kerry, that lyrically and thematically at least, Carry on was, in Kerry’s mind, part 3 of this set. It would take up a huge chunk of a set list, but it would be amazing to see live.
@JosephFrancisBurton
@JosephFrancisBurton 9 месяцев назад
Kerry describes that writing process in his autobiography 'Seeds of Change'. Mysteries and Mayhem and Pinnacle were originally a single song. Carry on Wayward Son is a loose sequel or resolution to the story and lyrically flows directly from The Pinnacle,
@clintonwilcox4690

They could always do the entire suite as an encore, since Carry On is usually an encore song, anyway.

Another 70's Prog band with only the guitarist keeping the flame for a tribute band. Like Yes, Camel and could say Hackett for the Genesis faithful. But of the guitarist led tributes, this one sounds pretty darn good. Eric who? I did not know Phil had an injury, you see, age is creeping in..

Put your phone away at concerts, it’s highly inconsiderate, obnoxious, and you’re an adult who shouldn’t need to clutch his phone like a teenager while legends grace your senses. Whatd you do at concerts before your precious cell phone?
@666ramjam
@666ramjam 11 месяцев назад
The band stated before the show that cell phone videos were allowed. I saw Kansas 3 times within a week and waited til the last show to record this song.

Rory don’t you remember back in the early 80’s at record and tape expos all of the recorded bootlegs and as kids tried to get our hands on. Back then it was illegal but now it’s encouraged. These videos gets the band to new audiences and to those that can’t afford the $80 to see them. I believe it’s awesome.

@@666ramjam So. Just because something is "allowed" doesn't mean it isn't inconsiderate and obnoxious. It's also pathetic to see grown ass men clutching to their cell phones and not enjoying a rock n roll show. Apple isn't rock n roll. It's fact, deal with it.
@roryheikkila5813
@roryheikkila5813 9 месяцев назад
It is not encouraged. You will notice it’s a minority, an obnoxious minority. It’s inconsiderate and ruins the atmosphere of something once sacred. End of story. I can’t Imagine watching something right in front of me in real life through a screen, forcing people behind me to do the same, and then playing mental gymnastics to justify it as “encouraged.”

@@jaimesorli2436 It's public knowledge that each band member has an understudy. That's how the new violinist stepped right in days before the tour started. It's also well known that when Phil (and Rich) retire it's their desire that Kansas, well...carry on.
@Parableman
@Parableman 10 месяцев назад
@@test4elThis guy was not an understudy to Ragsdale. He was playing in another band in New Jersey and happened to know Tom Brislin and Zak Rizvi, who recommended him when Ragsdale left for the second time. Eric was Phil's drum tech for decades, though, and he is an excellent drummer who knows the music of Kansas as well as anyone could. He's been touring with them since at least the mid-90s, I believe. He has filled in before on occasion, but this is the longest he's had to step in. Also, the band was quite surprised that he showed up to the first rehearsal already knowing all the songs. They thought they were going to have to teach them to him and work with him, but this dude is real.
@Parableman
@Parableman 10 месяцев назад
@@jaimesorli2436 Phil has always said that he's the best drummer for Kansas, but Eric is clearly the second best. He's been with the band for something like 30 years now. He knows this music very well and is the closest thing to Phil you will find. He certainly has a similar style and the technical chops to handle this kind of complex music. I'm not sure why you can't see that, but I honestly feel sorry for you that you can't appreciate his drumming, because he's excellent. He's also Phil's choice, so if you respect Phil then you should respect his choice of partial replacement for the part of the show that he can't play without aggravating his injury.
