Original members Kerry Livgren and Dave Hope join Richard Williams and Phil Ehart . Four Original Members on stage in Kansas City for the 50th Anniversary Tour
Got to meet Kerry when he and his band AD played at Englewood Theater in the 80's or early 90's. Very nice and personable man. We are using "Dust in the Wind" at my husband's Celebration of Life because it and Kansas was his favorite.
I wonder how many people realize Kerry Livgren had a very serious debilitating stroke about 6 years ago. It almost took his life but he miraculously has recovered to being able to perform at this level. Simply amazing.
I wonder how Phil and Rich felt having both of them back. I would think extremely emotional. Awesome 👏 especially with Kerry’s stroke it’s amazing he can remember the song and play it like he did 40 years ago without missing a beat.
It was very emotional, even Phil showed it and he rarely does! Thanks for watching and commenting, please consider subscribing, I have over 100 live concert videos and tons of Kansas!
I was so fortunate to see the original 6 3 times and although every version of the band has done justice to the music nothing will come close to that magic
You are welcome! I was overwhelmed with emotion as Kansas is my favorite band and I go back to the first album 1974 when I was 13 years old, first seeing them in 1977 and 30 plus times since. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! Please consider subscribing, I have lots of classic rock videos and tons of Kansas!
I find it bit interesting. Years ago, I contacted Kerry Kivgren via email and started asking him some questions about his time with Kansas as I am an extreme Kansas fan. Much to my surprise, he told me he didnt want to talk about that period in his life as he claimed, "it was so long ago." So, I let that conversation drop! And with that being said, what do I see here? Kerry Livgren sitting in with Kansas, which in my opinion, is exactly where he belongs! The Heart and Soul of the band! Mysteries And Mayhem, all wrapped up into one guy!!
For years Journey has consistently reached out to Steve Perry with an open invitation extended to join them on stage in any capacity he feels comfortable with. Steve has consistently denied the invitation.
@@krmar8908 I was referring to feuds between various Journey members, the latest being Cain vs. Schon. The band itself is a cesspool of egos, including Perry's when he was a member.
It was Wonderful! And then this past weekend Steve Morse shows up for back to back shows in Florida! Thank you for watching and commenting. Please consider subscribing I have over 100 live concerts videos and TONS of KANSAS!
Retired in 2014. Steve is very private and reclusive. It would have been nice to see him for 50th Anniversary, I'm sure he has a standing invite, but we will never see him, unless maybe a miracle happens and Kansas is inducted into R&R HOF They should have been before Robby died so all 6 could be on stage at once.
I am so honored to have been there that legendary night. It was such an amazing concert AND we got to have four of the original members on stage. I am still pinching myself. It was my first time getting to see Kansas too. The bar was set very high!
Thank you for watching and commenting! I have over 100 Live Concert videos I've taken and a ton of Kansas! Check it out and please consider Subscribing!
One of my favorite concerts in my life was in 1992 (I think) in Wichita. Where Kerry Livgren played the entire concert. No one expected him to be there. He was excellent -- like he had never left the band. The crowd went wild when he went on the stage.
@chriscosby2459 Nice! Chances of these types of things definitely increase when the gig is nearby. I've got a ton of Kansas on this channel, my favorite band since 1974! If you haven't already, please consider subscribing. Thank you for watching and commenting!
@chriscosby2459 That's cool! My first show was in 1977 at the RKO Orpheum in Davenport Iowa, now the Adler Theater. First Kansas show and first Show ever! Sammy Hagar opened as a last-minute replacement for Rick Derringer. He got booed off the stage! I had no idea who he was. I was 15. I thought he rocked out! Of course, Kansas blew my mind! I've, of course, been to hundreds of concerts since then, but I will never forget that one! I've seen Kansas about 30 times total :)
Correct. This is a cover band now, the "singer" is a total wanker, sorry bro, this isn't your band and never will be, what a ludicrous poser, you look hilarious!!! and you're dead wrong, CAN sing the catalog, realizes that old farts should sit down and stop disgracing their legacy, this cover band now resembles the Rolling Bones, just stop already. I saw the original band 16 times from 1973 until the conclusion of the Audio Visions tour.... nothing that has been done since will ever hold a candle, and the Elephant man records and tour were awful trash to endure and cratered with the public upon the release of the second record which was so a stink fest it didn't sell and couldn't sell tickets to the tour . Good riddance to that failed experiment, I don't count it, ridiculous attempt to cover Walsh. Embarrassing.
Kerry & Dave both looking & sounding great. Like riding a bike, you never forget.., you may have to practice a bit to loosen up those chops, but it's all still there. 👍🙏
@@stevemcfate1961 Yes. My personal feeling is it's . I see and hear Him trough this song. IMHO it is Godly and hopefully some others do to. Just my opinion.
Yes this is Phil here. He is still not playing full shows. He sustained some serious injuries last tour and it took him quite some time to recover. His long-time drum tech of 20 years took over to finish the last tour. At the start of this tour Eric begins the 2 hour plus show and Phil finishes up about 2/3 of the way through. Hopefully he will get back to full shows at some point.
Somebody above mentioned "so nice to see Ronnie singing". Kerry had Ronnie James Dio do a song or two on his first solo album, "Seeds of Change". Maybe this is him???
Ronnie stepped into a difficult role and has been reliable, durable and consistent. Nothing from the catalog is off-limits. That's where he really proves his worth! Thank you for watching and commenting. Please consider subscribing! I have a ton of Kansas on the channel and other classic Rock bands for you to enjoy!
Thank you for watching and commenting! It was a special evening indeed! Please consider subscribing, I have over 100 Live Concert videos and a ton of Kansas, my favorite band since 1974!
I was focusing on Kerry and Dave for this video, 3 other videos I have from this show on the channel with plenty of Rich! Song For America, The Pinnacle and Bells of St James Check them out! If you like them please subscribe! Got a ton of other Kansas shows and other classic rock bands you may like!
@owlperchedsilo3745 he missed last weekends shows in Ft Myers and Clearwater Fla. Former guitarist Zak Rizvi filled in for him with special guest Steve Morse.
@owlperchedsilo3745 They had a gig last night I'll check to see if he was back. The Show they played on Clearwater is up on youtube, complete show, watched it yesterday. Billy Greer mentioned Rich had the Flu
Oh yes, featuring members from KANSAS 1 before the merge with White Clover! Some of them hadn't played in 30 years before Kerry got them back together! I'm a Kansas freak! I know the whole backstory :)
@@stevemcfate1961 I am greatly comforted by the fact that perhaps there will be prog worship music in heaven. Today's worship music is sadly lacking indeed.
Kerry livgren quit drugs and turned to religion and convinced Dave Hope to follow suit shortly after many years ago and last I heard Dave is an ordained something or other and was and maybe still is playing in a band called The Mulligans, I haven't heard of him passing yet but if he has I'm quite certain it wasn't from a drug overdose...
@vaughn6820 he's playing in this video, I was at the show I recorded it. Dave is very much alive, in good health, lives in Destin Fla, plays in a couple bands and keeps close to the vest with Kerry and the band.
@@stevemcfate1961 that's what I thought, I was trying to respond to a comment from someone else saying the title of the RU-vid video was wrong and he passed from a drug overdose but thanks for backing me up none the less.
@vaughn6820 thank you for watching and commenting! I have over 100 live concert videos I've taken, and lots of Kansas as they are my favorite band! I've seen them 30 times dating back to 1977. Please consider subscribing, I'm trying to get to 500 so I can get monetized, have a great night!
