When the album first came out I didn't think it was bad but was underwhelmed more than any Kanye album ever , would've said 6/10. But i just listened to it again and I wonder if it's just me or if the album has aged extremely well because I'm appreciating it alot more now. Perhaps it's still my least favorite Kanye album but it still stands out to me as a memorable part of his discography.

This album is evidently in the low tier of Kanye's discog but I really appreciate it for giving us more singing Kanye. I just love it when Kanye's sing, his timbre is so addictive for me.

This album is so enjoyable and fun to listen to. It’s not the best record, but it’s a good vibe. I’ll give it a 7/10

As a Kanye fan this was painful but fair. I think the new album is an exciting new direction, but it’s easy to tell that he’s still very new to a lot of these sounds and styles.

He is a musical genius nonetheless. "God Is" has a deep connection with the replay button.

Came back to this album this past week. I don't know if they changed every track, or if I was on drugs when it first came out, because I'm loving it now more than ever. Like, basically every track I love, and it's such a short experience. Ye and JIK feel like they're two sides of an album, and listening both together is an awesome experience for me.

I mean its a Christian album that praises Jesus ... you know Fantano is going to hate it and rate it poorly

“Closed on Sunday” took direct influence from Cal’s “Throwing up on a Tuesday”.

I really like Kanye's music, and I have no quarrels with spiritual/religious focus in any form of art, but imo this album felt like it was oriented around/motivated by, a self serving effort more than it was focused on creating a piece of art with a universally profound message. Personally I found the music itself to have a thin veil of appeal that was overshadowed by an overzealous effort to include classic gospel aspects simply because they're known as being related to a love for god. The lyrics are what turned me off the most, but if the music had of been less focused on replicating old gospel sounds it might have appealed to me more.

As a Christian, I really appreciate hearing other believer's perspectives and faith journeys, so I'm not upset about the tracks that are more "self focused". I enjoy hearing Kanye's perspective and my heart breaks because the pain of "make me feel like nobody loves me" is not unique to him. He's calling the church to take stock of their attitudes and behaviors towards unbelievers and "sinners". I'm glad he's saying it, because most people who leave the church do so because of hypocritical Christians. As for the music quality, there are points where I do wish it was a more fluid, thought out sound. Saying that, I haven't gotten so hyped over music in a while. Oh and for the chicfila song, I listened to it several times before I actually assigned meaning to it. The chorus seems weak to me, but the verses are about a man who has taken a radical step in his faith and who desperately wants to lead his family towards the Lord even though all odds are against his success. Also, the Jezebel line is a Biblical reference. Jezebel symbolizes adulterous women. The vipers line is also a Biblical reference to Jesus calling the religious Jewish leaders a "brood of vipers" because they were leading the people of God away from the gospel of Grace and to religious legalism.

The best part of this was Anthony criticizing Ye’s lack of adherence to Christian principles, while not being Christian himself. This was after calling Ye a hypocrite.

You would’ve given this a 10 if it was a Kanye album.

I think Fantano's review was honest and sound, and as a catholic I do really love some parts of the album. But that's not the greatest album ever. The only one I might listen from Kanye, from end to finish, but musically he's been more consistent and generous in the past. Stop throwing stone at Fantano for doing his job. Like Anthony pointed out, I personnaly hope Kanye can continue his walk towards God and make longer and better albums.

The fact this isn't even his lowest score by Fantano
