Love1Another John 13:34 Same, I'm a black woman living in San Antonio, and I've only had respect and kindness from Latinos. I mean San Antonio is pretty chill.... maybe because we are so close to Austin.
Yall trippen in these comments, i live in socal and i fuck widd a bunch of mexicanos, they sum of daa realest people and most generous i have eva met, a bunch of em have me over for some food and i swear they moms be tryna give me like 5 plates of food! Lol ..i see some of em tryna be black, but fo da most part, they cool people
It's not so much a knocking this dude. We black folks got a good reason to be skeptical and cautious. It's not ignorance or knocking folks, so much as it is just worry. We've seen it so much in our history, so many of us keep guarded and stay skeptical. Even Elvis grew up in black neighborhoods. His impact in music didn't really do black people much favors (though, Elvis wasn't racist, either--dude did Jet magazine interviews early in his career, and openly hung out with black stars backstage). I think for many black folks, it's more of a general fear that once you let Kap in, you've open the floodgates even wider for other Mexicans in hip-hop--perhaps those even without Kap G's more authentic urban pedigree. It's the Eminem effect. You get one raw non-black artist in the spotlight and into the fold. Pretty soon, you get floods of wannabes and concerts full of non-black folks who take it all as trend. And the dynamics of hip-hop takes an unintended shift. It happened to jazz. It happened to rock. It happened to soul. it happening to R&B. And it's happening to hip-hop. Given how much of hip-hop's being given away outside black culture and how much white folks own black music industry, it's not entirely a fear without merit. FFS, there are Arab-Americans and Indian-Canadians in hip-hop now, tossing "nigga" like they know something. Stop. Only many levels, just stop, world. Please, world, stop trying _that_ hard to be black, but still with your society hating black folks for being black. Y'all overcompensate. And stuff like how it's harder for black women to enter black music industry, than it is for non-black people. It's shit that like that just worries you a bit about hip-hop, if you're black. It's just not "ours," anymore. I don't think some black folks here care whether Kap G's from black Atlanta or not. It helps that he's not just faking his vibe, but I think other folks are just worried about the impact he's gonna have for the culture of hip-hop. Esp. after he probably blows up in even more popularity after XXL Freshmen 2017. Again, it's worry. Largely a due measure of it. Probably some folks overdoing it.
SuperGamer87 its kinda the other way around arent some blacks and Mexicans going into rock culture slowly? I'm half Mexican myself and my cousins half Mexican and black..you made a good point but dr Dre wouldn't have signed Eminem if he him self didn't think he could contribute to the culture don't mean to say this to be rude like I said I liked your point... just saddens me now its come to music all this hating on each other
Sadly, with Urban Dictionary around, anyone can look that up these days. Still, Kap G's legit from the A. Dude raised in College Park. For me, it's how he says small stuff like "here." You just can't fake that accent. I can't spell how to pronounce it. "Heny'h" "Hen'yuh" Whatever. You know what I'm talm'bout. GA folks know it when we hear it.
Why do people get pissed at stereotypes but point the finger when someone who shares the same ethnicity doesn't fit that stereotype ? I get it all the time "you're not Puerto Rican, you don't know Spanish" "you're not black, you're hair is too curly, you speak like a white girl" "you can't be black AND Puerto Rican, you can only be one". Sooo my mom isn't black then ? My grandmother isn't black ? My aunts, my cousins, they're all not black because my dad is Puerto Rican and helped my mom conceive me ? But if I was wearing big gold hoops and twerking everywhere I'd be told I need to represent my people better. Just let people be themselves, we live in a mixed culture, things influence people in different ways, that doesn't mean they're any less of their origins than you are.
Just so you know Puerto Rican is not a race that's an ethnic group or nationality for example my grandad was from the Dominican Republic yet he was a black Dominican from what you say your a black Puerto Rican most Hispanics are black yet they hate to admit it a lot of them put white on the census but if they don't wanna claim white then they usually say indigenous but indigenous doesn't mean none black many were black besides most of them were whipped out so very few Hispanics have very little indigenous blood so them making that claim what is that it's mostly self hatred
chokoboy5578 I don't think that applies to the "brown people in Central America" you can clearly tell we have Native American/indeginous genes. In parts you can tell the black people apart from the natives. Not saying I'm denying of being black and hating it either just pointing something out.
@@doink5803 actually he’s both dumb ass his family is from Mexico and most people dk but Kap G was born in Long Beach just south of LA he moved to Atlanta when he was a kid so the southern accent grew on him if he were to be raised in LA he’d sound like exactly how most Mexican sound out here
FIST FULL'A FEDI PRODUCTIONS shit really ain't different at all. goto the bay Mexicans talk like black folks out there too. northern cali and southern California are way different
I'm Mexican and I was born and raised in North Carolina and moved out here to California when I was 16. I talk just like this nigga and people always think I'm tryna be black haha people don't know it's a southern accent not a black accent. People just don't know cuz most Mexicans in the US live in Cali and never seen one of us with a southern accent
Kevin Salinas same here in Texas fam. My cousin back in cali SWEAR I'm trynna "speak" or "act" "black" lol you can't act a color in the first place and secondly, it's a southern accent , something they don't get lol
Me as a Mexican American I cannot accept this guy as our voice in rap for Mexicans. I know it might sound silly to say that but if you think about the first black rappers where lyrically talented as well as the first white rappers like Eminem. Just sayin man I rather wait for a lyrically talented Mexican to help actually make a path for us.
Raatata Joel Ortiz is a Mexican American rapper and hes lyrical. Hes part of slaughter house and all of them are lyrical. Check out my new song on my channel btw. Its called "Get What Im Saiyan?" That DBZ touch 👌🏻 thanks guys!
kap G it's so good to see a Mexican having success in the music business (or any business) stay safe homeboy fuck all the negativity. we never met but I'm proud of you brother may God keep on blessing you
The reason its hard for WHITE, LATINOS, ASIANS to break into Hiphop is because Hiphop is BLACK CULTURE. Its hard for a Black artist to get into IRISH, Chinese MUSIC or MEXICAN MUSIC because that Music Industry wasnt created by black people. Its hard for a korean artist to get into the Brazilian genre of Music because it wasnt created by Koreans. Im not saying you wont have a Fan Base as a Korean Brazilian artist but its gonna be harder to break into that Industry. Theres only 3 white rappers Thats on the radio in america and thats G-Eazy, Logic, and Post Malone. I would say Mac Miller but hes not really poppin mainstream. Just like how Country Music doesnt have many Black Artist thats Mainstream
CeasarRiveraXI that's a lie & u know it Latinos didn't help start hip hop this has been in black culture going all the way back to blues jazz funk & r&b nothing to do what so ever with Latinos at all!
jus like mariachi music reflects mexican culture & country music reflects southern white culture reggae reflects jamaican culture reggae tone reflects Puerto Rican culture well hip hop & rap was born out of the black American experience & reflects what black American culture is for us blacks here in America
John Wilson John Wilson You got it twisted. Latinos, specifically Puerto Ricans in South Bronx helped with creating THE CULTURE of Hip-Hop. You best do more research. Best go to NY and ask Herc, Bambaata etc. My nigga even Ice-T who been rappin since the 80s said Puerto Ricans helped with the creation of Hip-Hop. Yeah Ice-T from the west but he was also in NYC. Learn yo shit. And in terms of "reggae tone", its spelled Reggaeton/Reggaetón/Reguetón. Which doesn't reflect all around Puerto Rican culture. It mostly reflects the streets in Puerto Rico. It's urban music. But what I don't get is how you think Latinos had 0 influence in the culture, not just the music, but the culture when in the South Bronx, in all the hoods if you was black, ya next door neighbor's name was Julio lol my nigga IN THIS COUNTRY we the same with the same struggles and the same history. Latinos wasn't rapping as much as the blacks when Hip-Hop was just starting out but the majority of the people DJing and B-Boying were Latinos, again, specifically Puerto Ricans. You best go to The Bronx and find out more history.
John Wilson You damn near the type to think the music is Hip-Hop when that ain't true. Remember, Hip-Hop isn't just a genre of music, it is indeed a CULTURE. And although it isn't a movement now, back in the day it was a movement for BOTH BLACKS AND LATINOS because we was in the same hoods being affected by the SAME BULLSHIT. This movement was mostly with the youth and was heavily influenced by gang culture in the Bronx. If you don't believe that last part with the gang culture influence then you MOST DEFINITELY needa learn about Afrika Bambaata since he was a Warlord in a gang in the Bronx. And he and Kool Herc both said what I just said.
The thing is about mexican culture, your either american or mexican. My own hyspanic friends or family mock me because i speak more English than anything spanish. At times I feel disconnected with my culture it hurts. The mexican culture can be so proud that it tries to keep it pure and subjugated.
No cap shit be irritating sometimes. You can’t fit in in either side cause either the American side expect you to be a Spanish speaking traditional Hispanic when half the time we don’t have the environment to grow up that way. But then go to the Hispanic side of things and they think you’re “ a show off” because you know English or that you’re American now since you weren’t able to grow up in the same environment they did so it’s all confusing.
*YEAH FAM IF YOU CANT SPEAK FULL SPANISH AND DONT EVEN LIKE TO SPEAK IT THEN U AINT MEXICAN HOMIE… SORRY NOT SORRY. WE DINT CLAIM NO CHICANOS N BULLSHIT WANNABE’S… AT LEAST DONT BE CALLING YALL SELEVS NO MEXICANS IF YALL REALLY AINT. Call yall self chicanos or some shit…*
Facts cuz I got a primo from Mexico from my mom's side he be mockin me cuz I'm Mexican American and it's sad and hard to be a American with Mexican descent.
Nando Budd Mexican is a nationality, dumbfuck. You can any race and still be Mexican. Most Mexicans however are mestizos with a lot of them having more Native blood in them. There are even millions of full blooded indigenous people still living in Mexico speaking their native languages.
@@ripplayboicactus9279 Mexican is a race. Mexica. y'all don't know shit. Aztecs are Mexica. aztec is european name given by herman cortez people....yall tryin to drown us out. Mexico was name after the mexica(aztecs). a mexican nowadays is thought to be a spaniard and native mixed but its deeper than that but y'all wouldn't know that. y'all follow that european bullshit.
In Chicago we got a whole lot of Mexicans and Blacks in the hoods. Blacks and Mexicans usually stay together over here but sometimes it's different cuz of gangs and neighborhoods. Blacks and Mexicans are the same, deal with the same issues and problems
Menace of Chiraq fa sho bro I'm Mexican and lived in the Chi for 15 years and grew up round mostly blacks and latinos.. but after moving to Denver I'd get asked all the time why I'd "act" more black than Mexican but it's cuz a lot of mufukas over here are still on that cali lowrider tip so they don't understand.. it's jus who we be but we still reppin Mexican to the limit ya hear
I’m Mexican American born and raised in Brooklyn ny, never had any problems with blacks they showed me ditch the paisa cut and get yourself a nice fade, looking fresh all day as a kid
Im mexican myself but my friends all black and the way they got my back is way i got theirs... We always come together as a family evne if we different races we still gonna be family 💯🔥
I once heard my friends mom call out "me negrita E Negro come for the picture" (cause it was a wedding) I asked her if her mom was racist & she told me naww it was a long story but it came out the heart it was just how they showed their love and she loved me too she always so supportive to all.....
Yep "negrito or Negrita" is a term of endearment amongst latino families it's always said to the member that is a little darker shade than the rest also the same with calling the chubby one in the family "gordita or gordito"
Why are Mexicans stereotyping their own ppl😂. Let this man come up, y'all needa chill amd support cha boy. Edit: sorry I don't know the diff btwn race and nationality and things like that :(
Just because hes Mexican and a rapper doesn't mean he has to talk like the homies here in cali this a whole different environment he grew up in like they say your a product of your environment right
Caleb Stewart Bruh this some white boy trying to start some shit. We do have our issues but really do when it comes to black and brown in amerikkka.. We stick together. I remember back in the day as a kid i was about to get jumped by these two white boys and this OG mexican squared up for me and spit some game at me about black and brown history and how we share the same experience. Since then i know these people want to devide us because they know if we organise.. It will be over real quick.
Too bad it ain't like that for real tho smh... Latinos just as racist as everyone else in this world...Mexicans and El Salvadorians can be especially racist especially when it comes to gang and jail politics
Im mexican and was born in North cali and lived a small town which the population of race is white American. I only had white friends and I Would always speak english to everybody except my dad. Ill forget some spanish words . When my aunt's and uncles and cousins and families here me try to speak Spanish they make fun of me. They would say im not mexican enough. My famliy are from mexico and i know spanish but i have an american accent like i can barely roll my R's and my grandma will tell my parents that i sound too "WHITE" and that im an American and thats a shame that i "cant"speak spanish. I love to listen to hip hop and rap and they would make fun of me. That that songs are not for mexicans there for Black people or White. I just said im being myself. Saying "youre not mexican enough" wtf is that shit, Just be yourself
SPM said " Being brown aint easy mom, I am losing my mind. The only niggas I got beef with is my own fucken kind" It applies to many of us born in the states. respect from Houstone homeboy
Fuck yeah. I'm mexican but it this emphasis on mexico really bothers me. My Salvadoran homies always had my back more than other mexicans. They my paisas too! Same with blacks, Islanders, philipinos, south east asians it's a mixed hood! Shout out to all my Raza they all Raza too me! Shout-out to the bay area!
Alot of Mexican rappers are not blowing up because the chicano rap sucks and and there Is descrimination against Mexican rappers baby bash blew the radio with suga suga and then alot of mfs where disapointed when they found out he was Mexican
generally, hispanic is a preferred word for those of us descendant from Spanish-speaking countries. If you call us spanish, it sounds like you think we're from Spain haha some get mad at that. Just saying, its all love tho ✊🏼
6:24 He is describing how most of us Latinos grow up. In a "cold" atmosphere full of "Love". The machismo in our Latino community doesn't allow affection to show itself. It's love fused with machismo.
honestly when I heard his music when my lil bro was jamming to it . I honestly thought he was black . I was surprised when he told me he was Latino . But king G was right all the Latino need to united and make music together . I stand for freedom and liberty . I hope one day we will not see each other as colors but as one big family .
I feel like inevitability he will get shit from both sides. He has a black man demeanor, southern soul and voice with a Hispanic look. Wonder which crowd will except him more, hopefully both will.
Homeboy reminds me of me! lol! I'm from Louisiana and I sound madd southern and barely speak any Spanish. When I moved to Texas, other Chicanos asked me why I sound "black"? That's how we all sound where I'm from. It don't matter what color you are. Go 'head FAM! Be you and show everyone how we do it on this side of the border. Not all Chicanos are like the vato locos on the movies.
I'm a mexican american that was born here and lived in my hometown full of mexicans to being forced to move to Virginia because of the military and its a melting pot up here. And I've been able to make friends with all races as well as talk to them about experiences with their races as well as their personal experiences with other races. And people just more often than not just choose to hate what is different. They'd rather stay away and spend their time judging than making a difference or just talking out of their ass about some stereotypes.
Minorities gotta stick together my whole life I've lived around Blacks and Hispanics we don't hate each other if anything I feel Blacks and Hispanics are the closest races we all understand the struggle
He has a Southern accent...His music is ok. I grew up listening to Boogie Down Productions, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim etc..I respect his hustle though..I can't hate on him on how he speaks
Half of yo people in the comments swear Hispanic/Latino is a race. It's not. Puerto Rican, Mexican, Haitian, all those are ethnicities/ nationalities. There are black Hispanic people. Hispanics aren't a different type of people. It's all blended. You have the black Hispanics, whites, Indians. Kap shouldn't worry about what mfs gotta say about him💯
sandinyourshoes our real language was the native tongues in all of America so it depends what state in Mexico become all the tribes had different languages and the reason why is because when the spanish came the killed and raped our people forced their religion and language on to us
My black and brown brothers and sisters I always forever love respect and honor y'all the real legendary. #BlackAndBrownForever ✊🏿✊🏾🖤 Africa and south America/Central America of Latin we love y'all forever in millions years. 🖤🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
funny shit shay91! we try to emulate your culture but yet I hear a lot of chapo this chapo an they got connect in mexico this is coming from black rappers !!!😂😂 but ya sure we emulate your culture!!!!
No we don’t Im Mexican and ima tell you this I was born in Mexico and got here when I was 3 a Mexican biggest hater is another Mexican we hate on each other idk why I’m happy when another Mexican comes up that’s just me but ima tell you people hate on their own people and it’s fucking sad araiabans and Chinese help each other out that’s why their well established and us Mexicans and it hurts me bro we’re supposed to be for each other not against each other men wake up
Man us Mexicans need to stop with this thing of if you assimilate into American culture then your not proud of your heritage, there’s nothing wrong with assimilation it’s ridiculous
I like kap g but one thing i dont get is how is it his parents came from mexico he barely knows spanish ots not like his parents knew english i say because of me i speak spanish and english i was born here bit my parents always said speak only spanish in house amd english outside the house so i would master both languages.
Ofcorse they gonna say he don't act like a real Mexican I've never heard no Mexican niqqa say "finna" he likes the black culture and he adapted to it 🤷🏽♂️
