Both are amazing! Don't let Tuhon Ray fool you walking away at the holding his back. He is one of the most fluid & fastest people I have ever seen with a blade.
Tyler Lalonde this was a freestyle between two experts. You saw one of his videos working on a dummy. I don't understand how you can compare the two I'm sure you don't even have the footwork to do what they do
+Dubstep I have three deep cuts on my hand from three separate people. All three used the knife very fast and if the knife was sharper I would be without couple of fingers now. Never underestimate street thugs. Some plays with knives since they are little kids and here in the USA razor sharp knives are readily available.
***** Dude you just said two names that are so far from each other that they hardly could be farther. Majority of both gangs are untrained a-holes, with some military service at ms-13 and few trained killers at triads. I was talking about individuals above. Street thugs whom obsessed with knives, sometimes because of family or tribe traditions like gypsies.
***** holly crap....no Al Qaida and ISIS are not gangs. Those are a very large percentage of trained in combat ex military as well as trained in some seriously nasty crap goat shepherds and who knows what people that are only for destruction and not related to the subject. The Yakuza have tons of members who trains in martial arts, some might be specialized in knives ....but my example had none to do with gangs in general. Just an individual who can be extremely familiar with knife and faster than we could imagine. I know a guy who works in a factory in Europe and he cuts plastic straps off from boxes all day and also open boxes with a box cutter. You put a chalk in his hand and he can mark you so fast that you would think it was some special effects from movies. I am practicing and learning martial arts for decades and is not about movies or nice impressive moves on videos. PS: Being member of gangs usually takes only a beatings or some stupid ceremony and it does not require skills. They are not famous from skills, they are famous of brutality and intimidation. Any bully is scary for somebody who is not used to bad things.
outstanding ,this was a historic event lets see if in the future they may have more seminars like this ,it is a way of coming together ,the evolution is here .
I would be so honored to take a class taught by Doug. Such a respectable and inspiring man. I'm only 14 though, so I gotta wait a few years to be able to travel to Kali hq.
I wonder if Doug trains with a pistol as well. Im sure he would have no problems with being an excellent pistol/rifle man. Would love to see the transitions between weapons
Looked funny and almost like they were just randomly moving their arms around haha. I realize the skill these guys have though and that they're probably some of the best.
Nun Ya I don't care about my ego unlike you stroking theirs. How is this dancing with no intent of attacking or defending intelligently good in your mind?
Tyler Lalonde you know that even kali people say that this is not the way a knife fight is going to happen the point of these drills is to built speed, precision, and timing, this is not knife sparring it's a flow drill
Tyler Lalonde I think the whole point of this video was two FMA masters doing a fun free flow exercise. I don't believe they would just be " moving their arms around " if they were really going to be serious.
Tyler Lalonde if you can't have fun in martial arts training man, then join a team of mercenaries where you train to live or die. This isn't the Cobra-Kai bro. Lighten up. These two were just having fun on camera. Let me ask you, would you engage in a knife sparring session with either of this two?
Jaycee Styles I do have fun when training but I don't need to dick around to do so. I just fine it a waste of time and energy. I would lighten up if they didn't clickbait and half ass their demos like most of martial artists on RU-vid. Most seem to think that doing bad attacks on purpose is good. Why can't they have intent but still show it in a slow controlled manner?
I know, this is quite older video, but does anyone know a video of Doug Marcaida sparring? Because all I found were only flow drills like this, but I would really love to see him sparring. Thanks!
This has something so fucking relaxing i cant describe. Something i really want to see is a fight with white tshirts and red marked edges of the carambit so we could see the lines ! Would be interesting how often both really hit in an 60sec round with 1 a Kalifighter and 2 a Troublebrushed dude without exp, but with anger and a knife...
i have a question? tell me, when did you think to stop training? ( i train my self in kali in the philippines since i was a kid and master it, if i stop training now? did i lose my speed in knife fighting or not?) plss answer me haha i need to learn more blade martial arts in order to be the best
Always keep up your training, with a minimum amount to retain skills, and longer training to sharpen them. The more complex skills and sensitivity need regular training to keep them up, the more basic skills need a bit less.
these guys are very good. but id love to see them be able to use the continuous stepping of bagua zhang, it would give them more fluid movement and more options for angles. thanks for posting.
Bagua movement in a real scenario doesn't sound too effective. More for show in my opinion. In Kali footwork is key such as you see here. it allows them to be in a constant position of attack just like in boxing.... Bagua Zhang has yet to convince me.
where u at, mikey? im in San Diego area, happy to show you what I practice. bagua stepping has some things in it that could increase options and reduce interia. im just basing my comment on what I see in this vid. most "bagua" people focus on the wrong aspects of the art, IMO. bagua is very effective in real life, at least what ive been taught.
you realize he teaches law enforcement and military right and those guys were interviewed and they said that their kali training saved their life marcaida is a very well respected perso in the martial arts world
